Black does look good but I have had so many black and space grey phones over the years. And after my deep black S21 Ultra, I can’t go with another black that’s not that pure black anymore. That color spoiled me. Badly. 😍

Samsung needs to bring that back every year.

I like pure white phones, too. But the cotton white is okay with me. It reminds me of iPhone Starlight which I like. I’m just not sure I like the sides.

And I don’t really like some previews where it looks beige. Then it reminds me of my paternal grandma’s wardrobe. She was a gorgeous blonde woman who resembled Christie Brinkley a little. And the times being what they were, it was expected that women past 45 style themselves age appropriately, which by standards today apparently meant as much like Sophia from Golden Girls as possible.

So this beautiful blonde had her hair cut and permed old lady style and wore beige skirts with beige sweaters when she was my age. The woman had killer legs even at age 99, too, by the way. Honestly I think I am rejecting the idea of beige for the sake of my grandma. Her favorite color was pink. Her and grandpa’s bedroom was done up with every shade of pure pink she could get her hands on. So, she should have rocked long hair and pink suits like Barbie. Anyway…sorry for the rant…moving right along…

My issue with the Lilac, though I think it’s gorgeous, is that it’s this in between color from what I can tell of leaked photos and videos. It’s too lavender to be pink. It’s too pink to be lavender. So it doesn’t go with anything I already have nor all of the wallpapers and cases I would want to use: basically nothing with brown or orange tones.

And half the time it looks almost white. But not white enough to go with all the cases and wallpapers I want to use.

Green is nice, but sometimes looks really grey. I’ve had so many phones that are supposed to be a certain color but just end up looking grey in most light. I’m not sure I want to do that again.

If there’s a really good red, well that might clash with a lot, but it is a statement color so I might be willing to make that statement…again. I have done it before. I might be willing to do it again. It depends on the red.

Still, I don’t want to really plan around exclusive colors that may take a long time to get or may be offered in limited configurations. I’ve waitlisted with Samsung before. It’s no fun.

It’s weird because I do think this year’s colors are attractive. Some people have said they’re ugly and I don’t think that. But looking at them gives me analysis paralysis in a blah way rather than an excited way of past years.

I don’t usually get so indecisive and weird about iPhone colors. It’s always the Samsung phones. They do my head in every time.

One thing Apple does a decent job with is color palette. This years purple is a phenomenal gorgeous color.

I wish Samsung would return to a more saturated colors palette. This years s23 range look like something that is old. The beige or off white looks like something an older person ( not that I am young ) would like. Same with the green. It is just boring.

It is not ugly and some may even say refined but I like phones to be a little fun. To show a quirky personality underneath the slabs of glass and metal frame.

I would even like a neon yellow, bright purple, and electric blue, a return of the rainbow type finish Samsung used to have but with different saturated colors underneath. Rock that with a clear case.

Black is depressing to me in general. Although it looks good against the phone bezels. I like the Pixel 7 Pro obsidian because it is a dark grey rather than black. Although the Pixel colors could have been better but at least the snow and obsidian look good. Hazel was not bad but I don't like gold trims.

The exclusive bora purple of the s22 was a nice color and the exclusive blue on the s22 ultra was nice.

I guess we will all see in a few days what these look like IRL.

I would like the deep sea blue that was on the Note 8 to make a comeback
I really liked the silver with a hint of purple from my note 10+. It was subtle enough for me to be happy with but yet showed different colours in different lights.

Well, OneUI 5.1 has been leaked. i only seen one particular feature that was interesting.

Advanced multiple controls between Galaxy Book and smartphone: Now you can use your Galaxy Book’s mouse, keyboard, or trackpad not only with your Galaxy tablet but also with your Galaxy smartphone. You can easily copy and paste text and drag and drop images from one device to another as if it were the same device. (1)

It appears Samsung is mimicking Universal Control, but I’ve never seen many Galaxy Books in the wild nor really considered purchasing one. But rumors have it that upcoming Galaxy Books will have AMOLED screens… could see a marketing push for Samsung to get consumers to buy these.

I just went to change a setting on my 14 Pro Max and did maybe 5 minutes reading on it. Immediate eye strain and head pain. It's not normally that bad for me. Usually I can use it for almost an hour. But when we have bad weather with barometric pressure changes it's an incredibly uncomfortable display to use.

I'm glad I don't have that problem with my S22 Ultra and I hope the S23 Ultra is also comfortable for me. I wish the Pixel displays were comfortable too. I'm really missing the Pixel way of doing things.

I hope Samsung keeps working towards bringing the best of Google Android to One UI while still keeping some unique benefits of One UI.

The hardware is all pretty good on the major flagships. They all really need to clean up software issues.

In other news my Ringke clear case has arrived. The lenses are definitely noticeably bigger than on the S22 Ultra. Like owl eyes big.

I ordered some Supershieldz film screen protectors because they were inexpensive and I know the brand. They will probably do until I see more buzz about which brand is truly the best for the long term.

I wish I knew what color I wanted. I just want everything ready to roll on preorder day because I always bork up something on their system. It would be nice to just for once have my stuff together when I place my order. I'm always so ready and focused for Apple preorders.

I'd like to keep this phone for 2 years. Because I'm already so close to being that content with the S22 Ultra. I just want a few little upgrades here and there that the S23 Ultra promises. So I want to pick a color I can like for that long.

I really liked my Starlight SE3. It went with everything so now I'm thinking the Cotton White will be a nice neutral that goes with everything. If I don't like the silver rails I can get a clear case with colored bumpers.
That's my thought at this current moment in time. Nobody is going to know what I get until I order it, and even then I have been known to put in more preorders and drive everyone nuts figuring out which one to go with and which one to cancel. 😖

At least I'm consistent! 🤪

What’s your limit? I could maybe see £100 increase.
For me it depends on what Samsung are offering. If battery life is much improved, if they are offering a good trade in deal for my S22 Ultra (around £500 or more) then i will be in. Will they also be including Disney+ free for a year, like with the S22 Ultra and so on. It all depends.

Not just 1080p AMOLED but high resolution Amoled!

The Galaxy books are really nice. The only thing that has kept me from buying one is the thinness of the screen. It is so thin and flexible that I feel it is going to break. The other thing is the speakers are on the bottom of the device.

Otherwise they are really beautiful, clean looking laptops. The cooling solution is not the best either and because they are so thin don't always get the most power out of the CPU.

If the pricing was a bit better and they re-enforced the screen build I would buy one in a heartbeat. The additional Samsung apps are similar to the phone. Some are useful and some are redundant but the integration between your Galaxy phone and tablet and the Galaxy book are very nice.

I almost bought last year's Galaxy book but the 1080p screen on a 15.6" screen was a deal breaker considering the cost. Plus the delicate screen and bottom firing speakers. They are very nice laptops and I think depending on pricing these should sell very well. The AMOLED screens Samsung used are really beautiful!

I completely agree. I think the upgrades on the s23 and s23 plus are rather lackluster. The s23 ultra is the only one that is tempting. I have a plus model and I don't see myself upgrading to another plus and if it is super expensive to get the ultra than I will probably keep my s22 plus another year.

Right now I am using my Pixel 7 Pro and I tried the s22 plus and the UI is choppy compared to the Pixel. I thought the s22 plus would be better because it has a faster chip and lower resolution? After using my Pixel 7 Pro I can't go back to a plus. Ultra or bust.

Don't get me wrong OneUI 5 is pretty good and there are some things I like about it better than the Pixel but there are also a lot of things I don't like. What I wish Samsung would do is instead of new features give the user more control over the apps. Let us uninstall any app we want not just disable it and ask us during setup IF we want to install any of the 3rd party apps like Facebook and Onedrive. Give us 5 years of OS updates and 7 years of security updates. Just those changes to the OS would make me upgrade.

I used to hate oneui... really really did but after a break of a few years coming back to OneUI5 I've been really impressed by it.

Not as fluid with scrolling/animations as the pixel native but not bad enough to worry me and a lot more customisations which is important to me.

yeah agree with all that, I do really hate the duplicate samsung apps :(

Well with snapdragon 8 gen 2 and 12gb lpddr5 ram ufs 4.0 it should be smoother. At least the ultra variant. The plus/regular s23 has 8gb lpddr5 ram and same ufs 4.0 in the regular s23 you have to get extra storage to get the 4.0 ufs as Samsung doesn't make a 128gb ufs 4.0 module but Samsung doesn't charge too much for that.

I am probably going to keep whatever Samsung I get for a while so I am thinking I should go big or just stay home.

I have a hundred dollars in my Google store account and whatever they give on trade so I may just wait for the Pixel 8 Pro and keep my s22 plus. Decisions, decisions. Lol

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one undecided here! 🤪

I did for a brief span of time consider the S23 Plus. But when I tried the S22 plus at Best Buy my eyes weren’t as comfortable with the display as they were on the Ultra.

At both Best Buy and T Mobile’s store my eyes had the greatest comfort on the Z Flip 4 display for some reason. It was actually soothing. I was so shocked I was glad the phone was bolted down or I’d have dropped it.

But I’m not currently considering a Flip phone. I’ll think about it when the Z Flip 5 comes out. I don’t really need a flip phone exactly, but by the time the Z Flip 5 comes out I’ll have a better sense of where I stand with all these neurological issues and how much I’d value the way that display makes me feel, vs any other option in my life. Though who knows, I might hate the Z Flip 5 display.

I Love the zflip format really do and I always get the latest to play with.... I guess it reminds me of my flip phones years ago :) thing is, years ago they weren't smart phones so the most that happened was a phone call in which case easy to flip open or text message. Now there are constant notifications, emails etc. and it's actually kinda inconvenient to not see very much on the external display and have to keep flipping it open, closing it then beep beep ARGGH flip open, answer, close... repeat.

Thank you for that perspective on it. That explains why so many people are clamoring for a larger external display.

I'm worried I'd destroy the hinge. Or that my cats would. Cats are the reason I did get Applecare on my MacBook Air.

The photos that were included in the tweet are purely speculative and were provided as reference:

So, the light blue and light green are only for the S23, S23+. Grey and Red are for the Ultras. Let's hope the latter are just fan art, because that red is washed out as heck. Grey is just...grey. That render makes me appreciate how nice the various Space greys have been over the years.

I would like a proper red, not the same red as last years exclusive red on the S22 Ultra.
