Can't believe it but I just did the math and I'm nearing 3 months on this phone, the longest I've been on Android in almost 10 years. Crazy! I still get Apple cravings a lot though and that really sucks since I'm so happy with the switch. But I'm guessing I'll get over those at some point.
Congrats LOL. I like to go back and forth between iOS and Android. I just bought a 12 pro max on here, so I can switch easily. Now I need to sell my 14 pro max, crazy since I’d rather keep the 14, but Verizon makes it to difficult to switch eSims.

One gripe I would have to say it notifications. iOS does it much better in my opinion.

If I have my iPhone on also on WiFi while sitting at home, the iPhone will get notifications much faster.

Some notifications on my S23U won't even show up until I unlock the phone. For example my daily Bible quotes I get at 12pm. On the iPhone, immediately on the iPhone at noon I will hear the notification tone, and the Bible quote pops up right on the screen. On the S23U, I don't even hear a notification sound mostly for it, and sometimes, even though I don't hear it, I will see it on the lock screen. Other times it won't even show up at all until I unlock the phone.

GooglePay notifications are always delayed. My bank sends a push notification to your phone whenever any of my cards are used. On the iPhone they come up immediately, on the S23U, they are always delayed a minute or two.

Overall I am enjoying the phone, but there are a few things that iOS still does better.

Oh, one other bonus gripe. :)

I hate rolling rollouts for Google apps. For example, Android Auto 9.5 got released the other day. But with the crazy rollouts they have, I still haven't gotten it yet.

I'm curious on the app if you check the battery / background usage limits to see if it's deep sleeping or sleeping category..you can designate it to not sleep ..

I don't use Google pay but I can't see anything being better than my Apple Pay it at least I don't know better haha

I mostly get notifications timely and on par with iOS but I've caught a few times on standby where they do delay for me too ..

Ugh! Who knew it would be this hard picking a phone!:p
Still leaning towards the S23 ultra.
Is there an app similar to face time? My GF and I use it regular to "talk" I know FB messenger can be used, is it about the best I can do?

Is rooting still a thing with androids?

I’m not going to leave Apple because of Apple Maps (weird thing to declare, I know but it works so much better for me than any other option in my rural communities I drive due to them sending their van out to every dinky backroads hellscape we have here. I know because I saw them). Apple Pay also has me stuck. Oddly enough I used to use only Samsung Pay. They worked on systems with magnetic card readers. I loved Samsung Pay. But now I don’t know how accepted it is. I pay manually with my credit card in brick and mortar and use Apple Pay online.

And now Sign in with Apple also has me.

So I’m dual hardware for the foreseeable future.

To @ppfd sorry, FaceTime is all I know anymore. I don’t video talk very often and when I do it’s been with other iPhone users so it’s just been FaceTime. Back a couple of years ago my husband and I did use Google Duo with each other on Android. Google has a bad habit of dropping support for their products so I think it’s Google Meet now, which looks to be more a corporate solution.

Many tend to use the built in voice and video calls inside popular apps like Whatapp as they are world dominant, but there are many other apps to choose from, my wife still uses Skype to her mum :)

Check over on XDA forums for rooting but no not as popular as once was, same as IOS

I put my SIM back into the S23 and the S23, in the Samsung leather case, fell one foot onto the pavement, and the bottom of the case is wrecked. I took my phone out of the case and the bottom portion of the phone has a slight dent, and the case has a slight hole where the dent was created. Ugh.

Is there a way to get the phone replaced under Samsung Care?

Ugh yeah I just went through it. Luckily if you have Samsung Care, they're really good at replacing it. Just give them a call and you'll most likely have your replacement by Friday.

This is big for me too, I have android and it's kinda hit or mess with notifications for me.

For one, I kinda prefer the IOS method of just flooding the lock screen with notifications and yes it's clumsy in a sense and not too organized but I see everyone once I pick up the phone.

On the other hand android is pretty cool since all the notification DON'T clog up the lock screen, you just have to unlock the phone to see everything, IOS makes sure you don't miss anything and on android it's possible that you will.

you can try duo or just use whatsapp, Facetime is major and alot of women prefer how simple it is built into the phone, since your GF uses facetime alot and probably has a Iphone, you should consider a cheap iphone to stay in tough.

Facetime is really major, nothing beats that IMO

Curious what you all use for your primary news app. I do like Google news but I just noticed that they're really lacking when it comes to alerts for breaking news. I currently use the CNN app but for personal reasons after last night, I am boycotting them. Not looking for an app that gives me constant alerts of every little news story but just enough breaking news alerts would be nice.

I used to use AP News for breaking news. I didn’t intentionally stop I just forgot to install it and kind of didn’t notice because I also had CNN and Apple News.

I use the NYTimes app and it alerts me whenever there is breaking news. I also use The Guardian app, but for some reason, the Android version refuses to send me notifications.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. It must be a lot of emotions you are going through.

I hope you are able to go home soon and have the very best care and standard of living possible.

I hope you get all the electronic devices to your hearts content.

Blessings to you and your family!
