Maybe. One thing my experiences with this misery has taught me is not only is it highly specific to the individual person but I, at least, can be affected by any other displays I'm using. Like I was okay on my 12 mini and traded in my defective 12 Pro Max for a 13 Pro. The pwm frequency on the 13 Pro made me become very sick when I tried to use my 12 mini. There are certain combinations of displays I can't switch between.

For me iPhone X was the worst screen I’ve ever used on a phone. iPhone 11 Pro was fine. iPhone 13 Pro is mostly ok once I fixed it to 60MHz & don’t use it too much. But can occasionally still cause issues.

Global marketshare is completly different though. Samsung does so well due to the budget sales and they sell a ton more of their low end devices.

Their best devices have always never sold that well past 4-5 years. Looks like S23 ultra is selling well or at least better than it normally does.

Funny that people call iphone 14 plus a flop but is still close right behind the S23 ultra in sales for that quarter.

There's a good feeling having a car or truck for many years and reliable...I see plenty of big SUV around these parts and I always think to myself of the parking might be an issue in some areas ..then again most have driveways and if you get away from the city to Stayen island ot New Jersey there is no worries about parking
I swear the people who design retail parking lots are shrinking parking spaces like airlines did with seats on airplanes. Even if I manage to get my truck parked, I can barely open the doors to get out. And while I do need to lose a few pounds, I'm not THAT big! I end up parking way way way out at the extreme borders of the parking lot where only other heathen big truck owners park and we leave each other at least an entire space between us.

Unfortunately that's not the ideal safe thing women are advised to do. So I do my big shopping with my husband in his truck. I take my teeny tiny econobox to do light shopping.

I did use my truck for the school run for several years, when there were a lot of kids to be driven.

It's a beast in bad weather. I would not even mind getting basically the same truck again but without the extended back. Then I could maneuver easier getting into spaces even if I still would have to squeeze myself into and out of the door.

Yeah that X screen was so bad I returned mine. I couldn't focus on the display at all.

not a bmw fan, however. I could drive this everyday next to our new outback coming this fall...

You mean Subaru Outback? If so, those are at the top of my "automobile fangirl" list right now. 😆 It's not gonna happen for me, but a girl can dream. And that BMW, that's the general overall style I want. That's gorgeous! But no, I definitely don't want a BMW, either. I'll just admire from afar.

I know you guys and girls are talking about cars right now, so maybe I'm little late🙂
But i just wanna say that i did a big change, at least for me anyway.
From being an iPhone user since the iPhone 6, I did switched from ios to Android this weekend.
From the 12 PM to Galaxy S23 with 256 GB storage.
Long story to a short; i couldn't be more happy about it🙂
Its a very good phone!

Word of caution. Be ready to constantly fight the urge to go back. I'm going on 4 months and probably about once per week I add an iPhone to my car only to talk myself out of it. Sucks....

Thanks for the warning!
I can quess that in the future, as you were saying, i probably would feel a need to go back.
But i have to remember the reasons why i left. They are several strong reasons, for me anyway, to not buing a new iPhone.
So i hope i can remember and hold on to it😊
You can do it also!😅

If I left iphone I'm pretty sure I won't have the urge to go back ...if I leave Android I would definitely miss it more and probably want to go back ...

I was commenting on the OP vague response :)

We also need to be mindful of the source of these stats as we know there are no official released numbers, especially from Apple

However I am not disagreeing in general :)

Either way it’s great to see S23 ultra being a success. It may only be 5th but it hasn’t been this high for many years. I just hope Samsung decide to stick with SD for longer.

People might find this of interest especially in the UK, all of these handsets are or will be officially available here. But the P60 Pro has no Google services or 5G unlike the others.

But at the same time insinuating low devices should not count or denigrating them in some way is not fair to be honest. There are peoiple and countries where a $400 phone is their dream phone.
For a long time now Android has been top of the charts in sales.

Yes I felt the same that there was a subtle hint of disingenuous in the replies :)

I quite like this map too that shows only a handful of countries have IOS at just over 50% market share

You can in all these stats and graphs over read or generalize for both sides of any argument :)

Personally I don't care who is the largest selling device maker in the world but there is no disputing that at the moment Samsung is king worldwide.

Android phone sales outnumber any other device by a large margin.

That being said just selling the most doesn't mean you are the best.

However Samsung has been making Android phones for a very long time and they have made extremely reliable devices at almost every price point for years.

I would also inversely argue that creating decent and reliable phones at lower price points is a much larger challenge than more expensive devices. At the mid to lower range device OEMs are much more constrained in the components they can use and still create a decent used experience. Profit margins are much lower the cheaper the device is which disincentivizes manufacturers.

Samsung has been able to make decent phones at every price point and update them for more than a year.

People keep buying Samsung phones because they have experienced them over the years.

This is not to say that Samsung is perfect or has not made mistakes. It is not to say that they haven't tried to push customers up the price ladder. However overall Samsung makes a decent product that is consistent and reliable across price points.

I think Apple has done a good job with their tablets with the iPad 9 being under $300 and offering a very good product for a reasonable price.

I would even say that the iPhone 13 mini is a very good phone at the very upper end of mid range. But Apple could do a lot more in this space and I think they could be very successful in the mid range if they tried seriously enough.

At the budget end the SE as it is now is not very competitive with it's extremely small screen. But it still offers great performance.

If Apple priced the next SE at $399 and offered a current chip, decent camera's and 6.1" screen with good battery life they will have a winner. Personally I am tired of the ever increasing prices of top tier phones.

I think the Pixel a series has shown over and over again that you can deliver a solid mid range phone and it will sell. If Apple follows Google's strategy with the SE I know they will sell a lot. I would buy one because the 13 mini is too small, has poor battery life and costs too much. Heck I would not even mind the iPhone 11 LCD screen. If they could make it full hd it would be good enough for me. Just give us a current chip and decent camera's with good battery life. The LCD screen in the iPhone 11 is still really beautiful. My son has one and I honestly can't tell it is not OLED.

Nobody is saying it doesn't count or doesn't matter but the phones samsung has in the past had the most success with is not the phones the tech community has ever really talked about or cared about. All people in tech talk about is the main big hitting flagships and thats where samsung simply have not sold very much for the quailty of product they have produced.

It's good people are finally buying the S series as I think the fact it has SD gen 2 has played a massive factor here. The sales that android dominate for many years is always the low end to budget devices. The flagship devices which people care about all thats been dominating has been iphones. That isn't likely to ever change but the fact S23 ultra is doing so well is a credit to the product.
