Samsung can not be faulted on their discounts. I have just brought the S23 Ultra in Cream, blue Light card discount, a further £200 off, the free Buds Pro 2, the Smart view wallet case and 15W Super Fast Wireless Charger Pad with 15% off the total.

Samsungs offerings are insane
Yeah and it's even better if you are upgrading from a Samsung phone during lunch. Like if I hold on to this one until the S24 Ultra, I will probably have enough pre-order credits to get myself some cases and some kind of goody.

It’s insane I don’t know how Samsung work it out. Apple would never do that with the iPhone. It makes me wonder how Samsung make any money on all these.

Right? And it also puts things in perspective a little bit when comparing cost from one phone to the other. With Apple, if you get the new iPhone, you are probably spending at least $50 to $100 on cases and screen protectors, if not more.

Definitely, is it Apple being greedy or is Samsung simply don’t have the ecosystem and so they offer better deals in order to get people in?

I definitely think that Samsung have got better with their phones. For me to miss a Samsung phone is a testament as to how far they have come. I would never have done that and I’m surprised that I have missed the S23 Ultra.

I can’t believe that Apple dropped the ball on the camera. Even as an iPhone fan I have to admit that the S23 Ultra has a better camera when it comes to zoom, the iPhone can’t zoom anywhere near that of the Samsung. Apple are rumoured to be adding zoom capabilities with the iPhone 15 Pro range, from what I’ve read it still won’t be as much as the S23 Ultra. I don’t understand why Apple don’t do what Samsung have when it comes to the camera.

Guys, quick question, would 256/8GB variant a mistake? I do not care too much about storage size, rather if 8GB vs 12GB ram on uktra does make any significant difference. Only demanding task i would like to try is dex and xbox game pass via dex:) as iphone is my primary device and ultra would be my Android introduction device/bug screen device, don kniw if investing more to 512/12 gb makes sense..

I would say it depends on your budget, there is currently a promotion where Samsung give you £200 cashback, so in a sense you are busing the 512GB version for the price of the 256GB one, because they are giving you £200 back, plus the free Buds Pro 2.

In czechia different promotions… but it is rather discussion about meeting needs for reasonable money spent, dont want to pay more than needed, for secondary device

In that case the 256GB would be great for you.

Summer and November sales are the best directly from Samsung.

This is part of the reason I have been a loyal customer over the years despite some things that have long annoyed me.

Samsung customer service so far has also been good.

This also why it is hard for me to buy a new iPhone. iPhone has better resale and their phones last a long time but the upfront cost on an unlocked phone is very high.

With Samsung you can find deals even on unlocked phones, sometimes even without a trade in. If you have an old Samsung phone you can sell it or trade depending which is better and get a new phone every year or other year for a very low cost.

On top of that if you get an Ultra you get one of the best Android phones available.

Samsung has a winning sales strategy. Deliver solid hardware, good and mostly reliable software and offer discounts. If you can't get a good discount directly from Samsung then usually there is another vendor who will.

People say get a Motorola or OnePlus because it is cheaper and they offer more for less but it is not true in my experience. I can but a OnePlus 10 and then when I trade in or sell for the 11 I don't get very much for it. So the initial cost is lower but the resale is so bad that I still end up spending more than if I get a Samsung.

I got my initial Samsung on contract with T mobile for free then traded that after 3 years. I only waited so long because at the time iPhone was my primary phone. And then the trade in and sell tactic has worked.

The base model Ultra is fine. 8 gb ram is good enough. The regular s23 and the plus have 8gb and I don't see people complaining that they don't have enough ram. The ram in these phones is ddr5x which is faster than ddr5. So you will be fine. Specially if this is not going to be your primary phone.

If it was going to be your primary phone and you wanted to keep it for 3 years or more then I would say the 512/12gb model would be worth the extra cost. In your case, save the money.

And even if you were to keep the base model for 3 or more years I am sure it would still perform just fine.

Also since the phone uses ufs 4.0 storage Samsung allows you to use some of the storage as ram. Up to an extra 8gb!

So just get what works best for your budget and enjoy!

I warn you. You might like the s23u so much it might just become your primary phone. 😂 Lol

Samsung Eco is bigger than Apple simply because they make more products and do not have the same entrapment/limitation to 3rd parties as Apple. Apples entrapment seems to make integration better/easier but not necessarily more comprehensive

It's not so much Samsung has got better as all OEM phones have changed drastically over the last 10 years or more your just noticing the more lag of progression with Iphones compared to others

My new S23 Ultra in Cream will be here on Friday. Along with the wallet case and 15W wireless fast charger.

Does anyone have any experience with the 15W Wireless Charger?
I have one, I got with my Fold 2 and it works well I charge my phone over night.

Ok so I ended up canceling my order, the Nothing Phone 2 will be announced on July 11th and I don't want to end up regretting that I didn't wait. While I really like the S23 Ultra, the Nothing phone maybe something to try! I can't have 3 phones in my ecosystem, having 2 and using them equally is hard enough 😂

I know I'm an indecisive pain in the backside 😂 the whole concept of Nothing just interests me. I've been thinking of trying the Nothing earphones, but I have the AirPods Pro 2 and the Samsung Buds Pro already.

I probably shouldn't be talking about another brand of phone in this thread, my bad

Well the founder of nothing was a big reason OnePlus was such a success. He was really the identity of OnePlus and once he left his influence that made OnePlus so great left with him.

The Nothing phone 1 was unique but a little bit of a gimmick. It also wasn't really supported in the US. I am not that excited personally because it has 8 gen 1 and some other reasons. But I can understand your interest.

I am excited about the Pixel 8 Pro and probably shouldn't keep mentioning it here. Lol

We are all indecisive until we actually hit the buy button and then after we get the device we question our decision. It is just a part of the experience when you buy these types of devices. The main thing is you have an interest and a little bit of passion behind your choices. I can see why Samsung may be a bit old hat considering the s 23 ultra has been out a while but it is still one great phone and dare I say I think it will be better than nothing.....

Yea Carl Pei left the company that made OnePlus, I've heard a few times that he was the reason that OnePlus was such a success. I'm not sure the reason he left, maybe he left on good terms to form the Nothing company.

Personally I liked the look of the Nothing One, I believe I posted about it on one of the threads in this forum. Nothing 2 will hopefully improve on that, hopefully in a big way. I think Nothing have got a long way to go, however I do feel more inclined to give them a chance, it's like helping a smaller company in a way.

Whats really interesting is Carl Pei himself, he's a big Steve Jobs fan and Steve Jobs Apple. There are a few interviews with him where mentions it. He also comes across as the most genuine down to earth CEO, there's a video on YouTube with him comparing Nothings products with the iPhone and AirPods, he is honest in that the iPhone is the better phone. How many CEO's do you see saying that when compared to their own products.

I'm looking forward to what they announce on July 11th :)

Dave, you have me on an emotional roller coaster right now!

PS. If it makes you feel better, I still get my iOS withdrawals frequently, so nothing wrong with the indecisiveness. :D

Day 3 on my S23 Ultra and I'm still fine tuning it like how I used to like it.

It's been both fun and time-consuming.

As I type at work, I have the Apple Watch on and the S23 Ultra with me. The iPhone 14 Pro is at home in a drawer.

Come September I will have to make a decision. The new iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra or this S23 Ultra.

The above decision will decide if I get the Apple Watch Ultra 2 or the Galaxy Watch 6 Pro.

There is some logic in there somewhere. Lol

Ok so a certain turn of events have now taken place, I thought I had successfully cancelled my order (see the following screen shot) but apparently it was preparing for shipment at the time. I have just this minute received a email from DPD stating they are expecting my parcel for delivery (again see screen shot I have attached).

At this point I'm not sure if my order has been cancelled or not!! if not then no worries, I will keep the S23 Ultra, if it has been cancelled then I will wait and see what Nothing announce on July 11th.

It's fate telling you to accept that this is the best phone out there.
