For me personally. I've had the 14 PM since launch. I've had UI issues from apple. Since being back on the s23 ultra I can honestly say I don't think apple has the advantage it once did.

1 of the things I relied on apple was for passwords, in that they'd restore without fuss when setting up a new phone. Samsung pass has been just as reliable this time.

I have sold my iPhone, watch ultra and airport pro to replace with the s23 ultra, watch 5 Pro and buds pro 2 and for the first time I haven't had an ounce of buyers remorse

I can't say that I've had those issues, I know people have and I know it's definitely for real. IOS 16 is buggy, I think that's why Apple focused on less features and more fine tuning for IOS 17.

Personally I'm too deep in the Apple ecosystem, I have iPad Pro, recently purchased the new 15" Macbook Air, I have iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Ultra, Airpods Pro 2, HomePod, Apple TV. Services wise I have them all with the Apple One Premier subscription.
I have no intention of leaving Apple fully, The Apple Watch Ultra is my favourite watch and in my opinion Apple make the best smartwatch.

I'll probably get the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I just love phones and Apple products.

I have my S23 Ultra for photos, the zoom is the best and astrophotography is awesome. Also it satisfys my Android fascination with being able to customise, mutitask and having the Spen with the S23 Ultra is great.
That being said, if Samsung bring back Exynos with the S24, I'll be sticking with my S23 Ultra.

I mean in the sense that with IOS you know you will get them when everyone else does. I definitely feel like the app quality is not as good on Android. That being said I do love my S23 Ultra for taking pictures, especially night time photos. The 200mp camera is great for taking pictures too. S23 Ultra definitely has more options.

that being said if Apple can bring the same quality and zoom to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I may go all in once again on iPhone. I doubt it will happen tho as we have only heard about a 6x zoom so far In the rumours.
People are so interesting.

iOS 16 has bugs no doubt and I have had apps do the same thing on it you describe on Android.

However Samsung is not pure Android either. I have had some random bugs on all mobile OS but for me Android both on Pixel and S23 ultra have been overall more stable with my Pixel being the most stable of the three.

That all being said Apple makes not only decent hardware and mostly decent software ( with a few more restrictions than I would like ) but the more Apple products you have or buy the better they all are together. It is like crack. The first hit might not get you but after a few more you are hooked.

On top of that if you have friends or family with Apple products you get to share the crack. Take away the Apple devices and it is instant withdrawals from the Apple addiction.

I say all that in jest but also there is a grain of truth to it. Apple may not have all the hardware features, or software features, it restricts how you can use things but when something works it works very well, is extremely polished and makes intercommunication between people and devices seamless and easy. To me the intercommunication is more important than anything else and Apple knows it. It locks you to Apple and if you try to leave it hurts.

It is genius and evil. Evil in the sense that you lose a bit of free will once you get deep enough into it and have spent enough money.

In terms of apps they are pretty much identical. There might be some slight UI differences but the quality of apps argument is way overblown.

In the end though you don't have to be an all or nothing person. You can use both. Your sim doesn't have to have a primary but it can have to equal but different companion devices or you can go all in on either side you choose because in the end whatever makes you happy is the right choice.

My experience with the s23 ultra using it as a daily main phone for a week or so has generally been good. Some ios notifications like eBay and my banking app don't come through and I often miss important notifications because of that on iOS

Touch wood these have been fine on the s23 ultra but I do miss the ease of use of face ID and wallet on the apple.

Will keep the s23 ultra for a while longer to see how I get on in daily use

What I found weird was that the ultra would lock up whilst I was wearing it, requiring the pin code to be put in often. Didn't matter how tight or the placement. I even tried changing the watch but no joy. Was very strange

Agreed 100%. This is the miners longest I've ever kept an Android phone since 2013 and most of that is due to the fact that they've caught up in terms of stableness. Yeah there are some annoyances like notification delays if the phone is off but most of those notifications are meaningless anyway. Text messages and calls come through and that's the important ones.

Still in love with my S23U. I've had it for more than 7 months now. I only touch my iPhone nowadays for phone calls. I've never been this enamored by a phone before, especially an Android. It's perfect. I've also have had no case or screen protector on it since day one and the phone and screen are still in great shape.

(TMI, but I spent the entire day designing a new website for my blog; sometimes I don't know why I am in law school. I love tech and design so much.)

Wow! I give you credit for running with the phone without a case on it.. you don't find it slippery a little bit? The closest I've come to running a phone with no case. I had a Slickwraps matte clear skin in the back for grip...

Speaking about notifications, I know a lot of us over here have seen the delays... I feel like it's a Samsung thing TBH. Maybe the battery optimization or something?... When I have my Google phone they always come through at the same time as my iPhone and sometimes even earlier... But I have noticed the same pattern as you guys and gals with the Samsung phone having some delays

I think there maybe some truth in what you say. I am in Italy at the mo and both my main Fold4 and my IP14P have dual sims on roaming

Under these conditions the IP14P battery endurance is poor compared to my F4

Well the bolded, I don't get that feeling lol. My first smart phone was the very first Apple iPhone. It was cool but then jailbreaking started and I hacked my iPhone.
The jailbreak made it able to do things that was more useful. They didn't even let us copy and paste for cris sakes, but I was able to do more things than stock. I also had the first iPod in a iPhone style. Still have that.

When I bought my first Android, it was all over for Apple. I hated having to use iTunes for one thing and Android was just more open and customizable. I came here and found this place to be very useful and it still is but I never venture out of this section of the forum. No need to, it's an all Apple lovefest outside of here lol.

And yes people are interesting in how they use or need their products.

I guess I'm just simple. I use one phone. I don't need to carry more than one and I'm sure not getting an extra line to have more than one. I've never bought one and returned it before the "trial" period. I mean i would but by the time I'm done researching I already have a good idea of what will work for me. I've never had a " oh hell no" phone lol

I dont understand the need for multiple phones but I get it that people are different, but I can only use one at a time and don't want to keep switching out my Sim card and i wont switch to a esim if I can help it as I've seen others say it is a PITA.

I do research on everything I buy but when i decide, I stick with what I bought til I come to the conclusion it isn't as good as I hoped and I'll upgrade to the next one, whichever that device will be. I've had multiple Samsungs and Multiple Pixels. Never a HTC or Motorola though I think I would get the new RAZR 40. I had a SS edge and hated the edge and decided, never again.. and waited til I could get a flat screen phone again.

I also have multiple brands. I don't stick to say a Samsung phone and then have to have Samsung earbuds. I do not have Google earbuds either. I have many JBL earbuds. Mostly wireless, one that isn't. I've also had Skull Candy in earlier years. Oh and I don't like to wear watches so i dont have one of those.

Right now i have a Pixel 7, a Samsung Tab S7,an Asus PC all in one which needs an upgrade soon as it is around 7-8 years old id guess, and a FireTV box that i stream with a IPTV service, not just Amazon Video. Everything I have I manage to work together though my FireTV box does nothing with my other devices.

No crack going on with any of these lol.
I look forward to getting a different brand PC with Windows 11. Probably won't get a laptop. I have a old Lenovo Yoga , first gen and it is/ was a POS, never gets used anymore. I'll just get a keyboard for my Tab S7, just haven't yet.

I get texts on my Asus and Tab S7 as they are connected to my phone.
I really don't have any desire to get an Apple product at all and when I do think maybe I'll try a iPhone again, im reminded they still dont do as much as Android and will always be behind in that regard.

For me personally if I went with just one phone, it would always be iPhone. Samsung have made the best device so far with the S23 Ultra, the Snapdragon chip is awesome (battery life is great), the design I love, the s-pen is very useful also. However it's the camera that makes the S23 Ultra great, the zoom and that 200MP camera is just the best in my opinion.

BUT the iPhone for me is a daily phone, iOS is unmatched in my opinion when it comes to reliability, I know that people have had issues with iOS 16 and that has let Apple down, (it's probably why they didn't focus so much on software features and more on stability with iOS 17) I can't personally say that I've had those issues (so far). When it comes to things like Apple Pay, apps which in my opinion are better designed and more stable on my iPhone 14 Pro Max than on my S23 Ultra.

I don't personally carry 2 phones around with me all the time, now that WhatsApp have added the ability to add the same account to two phones, I can use my iPhone as my daily driver but decide to pick up my S23 Ultra and take it with me when I'm going on a trip knowing I will want to take lots of photos.

I do really like this "new Apple" as I call it, they are adding more and more customisation to the iPhone, something they never would have done before. If they at some point add a small Apple Pencil, multitasking to the iPhone AND a better zoom and better camera (like S23 Ultra) I would probably ditch my S23 Ultra. It's not mainly the software that keeps me wanting a Samsung device, it's the hardware and some of the software features.

I'm heavy in the Apple ecosystem, I have Apple everything including the Apple One Premier services bundle. Apple know I'm going know where and so do I.

Will I buy the iPhone 15, yes probably :), but I love the fact that I can buy both and use both in my lifestyle. I consider myself very lucky to be able to do so. I also know that I'm a sucker for anything Apple, but I'm ok with that and I know Apple definitely are 🤣

Funny how everyones use case differs. I am far from beeing deep in apple ecosystem and yet, only few services/features I like makes it almost impossible to switch: Find my, iMessage, Apple pay (i know i know, samsung/google got their own but apple pay at least where i live is the most supported one)… and somehow, i really like face id magic:)

I'm torn on the whole "Apple is more reliable" narrative. In some ways they probably are, but they also have had some pretty major issues that have taken months to fix. Remember the issue back in late 2020 where you'd get text messages but no notifications for them (or unread badges)? Took months to fix and had to be packaged with an iOS update. The worst part was that I was on the phone with Apple support several times and they never acknowledged that it was an issue.

One thing I noticed which is odd. I will get notifications on my Watch 5 Pro much quicker than on the phone.

Still slower than on IOS though.

Hmmm which has me thinking it’s the way battery management is handling the phone with apps

Exactly and for us that travel internationally you soon find many things are far less dependable than in home countries like US/UK/AUS

Even service or resolving problems locally is far more problematic overseas with Iphones and Apple products generally

It took over 6 months before the update fixed my IP14P memory used by photos and I have never had so much US spam mails until I go a recent Iphone and I have not worked in the US for over 12 years
