Take it straight back to where you bought it from, Apple won't want to get involved

I had a similar issue with Music Magpie a few years back; ever since then I've bought the devices outright, brand new.

Don't want the risk, at all
CEX

But I want apple to confirm for me first the iPad is sim blocked

Strange because it did work when I bought it

So I no longer have a working S23U... Around 2 weeks ago I get a pop-up message on my lock screen ” This device is disabled because it was reported as lost, stolen, or has a balance due for failure to meet trade-in terms. If purchased from Samsung.com, check the email used at the time of purchase for an email sent by Samsung for the next steps. "... I bought the phone through Swappa so apparently the person that sold it to me which was a newly sealed unlocked phone bought it from another person and decided to resell it and not keep it ...so has me thinking the person other side financed it and didn't pay after 3 months or maybe stolen but the IMEI was good at sale on Swappa so probably not..I had been using the phone since March when I received it.. I reached out through Swappa and had to open a case with PayPal separately with documentation and photos...long story short they ruled in my favor and have refunded now the amount..just something to think about when going through selling places ..though having PayPal helps IMO ..
Was it the lavender pink one? Maybe it was my returned phone that got stolen! ;)

I was happy to pay extra to get my used phone from Apple. I trust their process by now. And my 12 Pro Max phone doesn’t even present as used. I love it, by the way. I do miss dynamic island and thought very highly of my 14 Pro Max. But I’m so happy I can use this phone. It’s really good.

I will always be happy to talk about Samsung phones. I love them. I’m not so keen on dealing with Samsung directly anymore until I know for sure they get rid of the thieves in their pipeline that were stealing phones sent in as returns or trade ins. I don’t know if the problem is internal to them or with the FedEx facility in a certain area or with one of their contractors or what.

Anyway I’m glad you’re getting your refund.

Thank you thank you... Yes I'm happy it was resolved.... I'm going to lay low and not reinvest the refund... I'm just going to roll with my Pixel Fold...

I'm happy you are good with the iPhone and sometimes you got to go to what works...

And no it wasn't lavender Samsung phone lol ... But I agree Samsung definitely has to tighten up that trade-in process and all that other stuff with orders and returns..

Off topic, but when I went to Best Buy to look at the S23 Ultra, I also looked at the iPhone 14 Pro Max, even though I'm not a fan of iOS, but one thing I do like is how each individual app can have specific custom settings for certain things, and for me, as I get older, my eyesight isn't what it used to be, ugh. But when I had the 12 Pro Max a couple years ago, I liked how I could adjust the font size per app. Some apps I could see just fine at default, other apps I liked to increase the font size to see and read it better, and in iOS it allowed me to do that.

On my Pixel 7 Pro I have never seen that option, and if it is there, would love to know how to do it. Even Chrome or Brave browsers, I go into the Settings - Accessibility and increase the font size to 200%, but... it doesn't change anything really, it still the same size, except maybe some titles or labels might be extra large, but articles still look tiny and small. But with Safari browser I can set it to a larger font, and it actually changes it.

So as much as I don't like iOS, certain settings and apps are just better than on Android.

Wait, how do you actually do that on iOS, lol!?

I could have sworn it was an option back when I had my 12PM. Maybe not LOL

Settings - Apps - pick the app and options were in there?

Or I do recall apps having maybe 1 or 2 extra settings in the iOS version where the Android version didn't have these 1 or 2 extra settings options.

Like Reddit in iOS, go into the Settings options for Reddit, and I thought you could adjust the Font or Display size in there specifically just for Reddit. But on Android the Reddit app does not have that option whatsoever.

Cool thanks. I don't own an iPhone currently, but do all apps have specific setting for increasing the font size besides Reddit?
I just pulled up a couple random ones. Looks like Twitter also does, but Facebook doesn't. Neither does Amazon, so I think it comes down to the app developer but very cool that it's possible.

On iOS, try "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Per App Settings" > Then add an app.
Once added you can change text size and many other things.
If I correctly understand what you guys are wondering about.

Were you able to keep the bricked phone? Or did they make you return it?
You could always sell it on eBay as "non working phone" "as is for parts". Might be bale to get a few 100 for it :)

I still have the phone but the seller had stated he wanted it back at the early stages when notified...I will contact him and also PayPal if a return is needed...otherwise no plans with the phone

So I have returned the S23 Ultra.

The main reason was the horrendous network connection. I have not had dropped calls and laggy internet for a few years.

The S23 Ultra was consistently poor against both the older iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro.

I tried everything from network setting reset to even factory reset. It could be I had a lemon in that regard.

Oh well. Not long left until the iPhone 15 Pro series.. although I believe I gave the Samsung a fair shot.

Interesting that you had the same issues with calls. I haven't had Internet lag but I for sure have missed calls going straight to voicemail that I never knew about as well as dropped calls.

Instead of returning the phone how about some basic trouble shooting? Missing calls is not normal and it could be an issue with the carrier and your specific phone. It could be an issue with the hardware and Samsung could have fixed it or replaced the phone?

I have had the s23u for several months as my primary phone and never had dropped calls but I made sure my carrier had my IMEI and that my phone was added on their system. I use a prepaid service and use the same sim in two phones. If I just put the sim in either phone it will work but if I call the carrier and add the phone in the system it makes everything work better.

So you could have contacted your carrier first and made sure everything was good. Then after that if you are still having a problem call Samsung and have them troubleshoot the hardware. By the time you are done you probably would have resolved the missing phone call issue.

Internet lag is definitely not normal either and you could troubleshoot that by resetting the wifi and data settings. Then turn your router on and off. Checking your router to make sure it has the latest firmware. Making sure your phone is connecting properly.

Maybe you just got a lemon? It happens to all companies? At least this way you would have solved the issue, or gotten a replacement phone with no issues. Then if you still didn't like the phone you could have sold a working phone and not a possibly defective phone?

My apologies.

I hope that you have gone through the basic trouble shooting steps to try and resolve your wifi and call reliability issues. If you need any help to troubleshoot anything I or I am sure others here could guide you.

If it is a hardware issue like a bad antenna or something like that then they can either repair or you could have the option to replace with a refurbished like new replace device.

If you can rule out any software issues and that leads to a hardware issue then you can make the choice that best suits you.

You deserve to have a properly working device and from what you described it is not working normally on two pretty basic and important parts of a smartphone. The phone and internet connection need to work reliably. All I am saying is a one year warranty goes fast. If you can get it fixed now it might be a good idea. And if you tried then disregard everything I just said. Lol
