I'm going to switch tomorrow. I have the 15PM in my drawer, and unfortunately to much going on tonight to switch my SIM, so I'm going to do it at my lunch hour tomorrow. I'm selling my S23 Ultra. 😊

Ugh why get the 15PM? Just curious. Are you used to or familiar with iOS?

I can't stand the operating system on iPhone's. I switched to an iPhone 12 Pro Max few years ago when it first came out, and I came running back to a Google Pixel phone, but I did give it time and tried hard with it. Just way too long of a laundry list to write-up here, but after giving the 12PM a good few months test and trying hard to like the iPhone and iOS, I could never get comfortable with it. Way too many things I did not like on how iOS works, the gestures sucked, no back button sucks, Siri blows, and the way certain things like the Phone app still doesn't have a T9 dialer yet, and message forwarding being weird, etc... Too long to discuss here, but it was not my cup of tea at all.

Basically the iPhone 12 PM hardware was great, cool design, very high-end feel, but iOS felt like a decade outdated, a kids Fisher Price toy, that just wasn't for me. So until Apple does a major overhaul / revamp of iOS, I'm out of the iPhone market.

But good luck with yours :) Seriously not joking, there were a few times I almost chucked that iPhone out my car window in frustration with how bad iOS was.

Honestly though. It's been a trip and I can guarantee that I'm going to miss certain things about Android. This is the longest I've stayed on Android in 10 years.
Well, at least you entrenched yourself with Android and gave yourself a chance to get accumulated to the whole experience.

Are you going to dive back into the ecosystem... Apple Watch, AirPods?

Luckily, I never sold my old Apple Watch Series 7 or my AirPod Pros, which were both used for less than a year, so I have some Apple products happy to get used again, haha. Oh and I might try to find a cheap macbook or mac mini down the road just to manager my Apple Music library for my imported songs.

Yeah, I'm really glad I tried Android out. There are a lot of things I liked about it but it also made me appreciate some of the simple things about iOS.

Also, one cool thing that this experience has really done for me...I love Google services AND Apple services. So I am for sure going to use my action button on the 15PM to open Google Assistant (I've thought about using it to open my garage door too so we'll see lol) but I'm going to proudly put the Google widget in my widget feed to the left of the home screen. Going to actively use Safari and Chrome too as I work on Chrome for work all day and the continuity there will be nice as well. So in a way, I'm going to hopefully utilize my phone better than what I was before switching to Android.

You gave it a good run and got a nice taste of Android with an excellent phone like the S23U... I always run Google everything on all my phones so you should definitely keep doing that with the 15PM... I've been using my AirPods Pro a lot more lately I feel like they've improved with software update and it's fine-tuned with my phone.. and of course I wear my ultra everyday...lol

The ultra has a better sensor on the main camera. Lenses themselves might be different, but I think the processing software isn’t as good as iPhone or pixel. If camera wasn’t important to me I’d have stayed with s23+.

The s23 just didn’t do my dog justice
Using Expert RAW app on 23+ when needed does a decent job.

I have it situated just above the stock (JPEG) camera app so I can easily choose my "weapon" and snap away.

Haha WTF. I just activated my brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max and the very first thought I had was that the S23 Ultra is so much better and I'm highly considering immediately switching back.

/facepalm

Nice, very nice.

Stay with the Android side my friend, and ditch the walled garden. iOS is no good.

LOL

Haha I know you hate iOS, but the switch still makes sense for me. Just the initial shock kind of sucks.

I don't "hate iOS" but certainly not a fan. I just much prefer Android and the way it operates and gestures and the back button, and app drawer, etc...

iOS to me feels so jarring and uncomfortable.

Out of 25 smartphones I've owned the past 15+ years, out of those, maybe 2 or 3 were iPhone, and the other 20+ were Android. My point, I think I just got so accustomed and used to the way Android works, that when I try and iPhone it feels frustrating and aggravating to operate. So I just stick to Android. For now

Ok all better now. Took me about an hour or two and damn did I miss iOS. S23 Ultra is still a way better overall phone, though I will say, I loooooooooooooove how light the iPhone 15 Pro Max is.

If you could only keep one phone for the rest of the year, which is it, the S23 Ultra or 15 PM?

15 Pro Max for sure. Mostly because I'm already loving the fact that I don't have 2 Photos apps, and have iMessage/FaceTime back. Hate to say it, but apps are still a smidge better. Hard to explain, just a bit more polished.

I'm hearing the S23 Ultra will get the full Android 14 release later this month? Has anyone heard anything different?

Unfortunately, Android and I are amicably splitting up. We will remain distant friends and would appreciate everyone’s privacy as we go through these challenging times.

My condolences. You are returning home to a familiar friend?

Sorry about the divorce, that sucks. But the grass isn't always greener, sometimes it's far worse, but you'll find that out. LOL

Good luck with iOS. Ugh. I mean uh yeah have fun with that OS :(
