I had the exact opposite experience. My S7 edge was good when I first had it....then when it got Nougat the performance was actually better. Battery life improved too....
No, I am not switching but will be running both concurrently. The iPhone 7 Plus looks like an outdated slab next to the S8 to many people, but in actual use, I think it's the most refined experience of iOS and Apple's cameras that I've experienced to date. Are a lot of you switching from iPhone to the s8? I'm pondering switching from iPhone 7 plus to galaxy s8, but I like the ease of my Apple Watch. That's what is keeping me from switching.
What did it for me was the Apple Watch. Switching to Samsung, even if temporary would then make my Apple Watch, which I love dearly, pointless to have.
Like I said a few posts above. I wish I could rent the phone for a couple of weeks just for kicks.
I had a Galaxy 6 and the battery was terrible. I had better battery experience with my S4. I'm a moderate user so I'm just being honest. My co worker has the S6 and her battery life is not great either.Ditto for my S7 and my wife who has my hand me down S6 gets amazing endurance, she just got the Nougat update yesterday so hoping it will improve further
Not sure what the other poster is doing to get only 3-4 hours outside of jump starting the car LOL
Another sign that Samsung is going to get better with updates? Can they prove once again that they're learning? I hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it...

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ run Android 7.0 Nougat right now, but 7.1.1 is on the way
We spoke with a product expert at Samsung’s Unpacked event for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ launch who told Talk Android that Android 7.1.1 for these phones should be ready by the time they’re released. If true, it’ll either be pre-installed on all units or more likely available a software update upon activation by users.

That's part of my issue as well. I have 2 apples watches and I would hate to have to replace them. iOS ecosystem I could care less about, it sucks anyway IMO. I'm going to be patient and wait for apple, but I won't rule out buying a s8 for $400-500 which is what they will be on swappa in 2-3 months.
I lost my original series SS Apple Watch. I've not been able to find it since a trip I took in October. I may still have it buried in a purse or sports bag somewhere but I've turned everything upside down so, I guess it's lost. It doesn't help my bedroom is piled up with things from other rooms that are being worked on. I gave my sport watch to my daughter. That's part of my issue as well. And in fairness to Samsung, that Gear S3 Frontier is really good. Ugh. Decisions Decisions
At first I was surprised and appalled, too, then I remembered that unlike Apple, which traditionally has kept back features until they were perfected, Samsung loads them on almost as soon as they are invented. Customers act as guinea pigs, more or less, and disable what they don't like. Samsung meanwhile somehow gets the feedback and fixes the new feature for the next phone. We may not even have to wait for the next generation if we alternate between the S's and the Notes. The Gear S3 does look super nice. It's too large for my mish mash watch, I attached my AW to the opposite watch band as my mechanical watch, so am hesitant to have to make hardware modifications for a new watch.
[doublepost=1490979921][/doublepost]I'm bummed, I've read several news reports this morning that claim a picture can defeat the facial recognition system on the S8. With the HORRIBLE placement of the fingerprint sensor, and now the facial recognition under suspicion I suppose that leaves the iris scanner, if that even works alone. I'll be curious to see reviews and how you all handle unlocking the phone.
The S8 in hand feels smaller than my S7, and it actually is 1 mm smaller width wise. While I'm way too ingrained in the Apple ecosystem (iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, MBP, Apple TV's), I have always wanted to try out the Galaxy phones. I stumbled upon a deal for the S7 that was too good to pass up, so I ended up purchasing it. Keep in mind, that I have very minimal experience with Android as I have been an iOS user since the first iPhone.
I'm primarily just using the device at home to toy around with. The screen is absolutely gorgeous! Although I hate with a passion the bloatware that is preloaded on the phone. I'm definitely a fan of the customization you can do with different themes and what have you (certainly something you can't do with iOS). While I'm not jumping ship to Android anytime soon, it certainly has given me a better appreciation of the other mobile OS's available. Looking back, if I wanted a pure Android experience, I probably should have went with the Nexus 5x or Pixel, but I actually like the design of the S6 and S7.
The S8 definitely looks like a gorgeous phone, but considering that I'm not a fan of the plus model iPhones, I doubt I would buy it since it's 5.8" and I don't have huge hands. The 5.1" screen of the S7 definitely would be the max I would get since I can still hold it comfortably in my hand.
Anyone know if there's an unlocked version available for pre-order?
Don't worry it will be in the display next year. They just didn't have enough time. The fingerprint sensor is a complete screw up on Samsung's fault. Otherwise, it looks like a good device if you can tolerate second rate software.
That's not good but I suppose if your phone was stolen the thief wouldn't know what you looked like so they wouldn't be able to use a picture of you to get into the phone. It's probably only people that know you that would have access to a picture of you which they could use to get into the phone. The Gear S3 does look super nice. Was very tempted but will be waiting for the iPhone 8 and what that provides. Are a lot of you switching from iPhone to the s8? I'm pondering switching from iPhone 7 plus to galaxy s8, but I like the ease of my Apple Watch. That's what is keeping me from switching.
