Your not alone, apparently s9 preorders aren’t off to a good start....

“And today comes a note from Jeff Johnston of the boutique firm Arthur Wood Research, who declares that he’s hearing from “the channel” that Galaxy S9 orders “are down ~50% over GS8,”....These pre-orders are “significantly underperforming pre-launch expectations of 10% to 15% growth,” he writes.

Funny sold out on pre orders here in KL and trade-in specials do not start till a few days later so YMMV

I wouldn't be surprised at all if orders are way down. I think there's a combination of market saturation and new device fatigue. People are catching up to the fact that year over year these phones don't change very much. Unless you're an enthusiast like the folks who post here, if your phone is 2 years old and still running well what's the incentive to upgrade? Better camera isn't gonna cut it.

Another reason to upgrade to the S9 Plus for me...

Cnet says this about the 600 MHz Band 71 frequency -

"The Galaxy S9 should be able to get better coverage in rural areas -- a traditional weak spot for T-Mobile -- and inside office buildings in more crowded metro areas"

https://www.cnet.com/news/how-the-sa...bile-mwc-2018/

yep! Along our annual summer road trip route, there's quite a bit of 600MHz already live in deadspots from before. I'm definitely excited to try it out.

Following up on my own post thinking about it, even I must admit I'm just going through the motions ordering the S9 Plus. There isn't a single thing "exciting" about the phone.

I’m excited about the new shade of purple and the hope that this time I won’t get a pink stained display. If I do it’s going back!

Actually there’s a lot I’m excited about. But I am terribly disappointed about the regional skimping that means I get only 64 GB onboard storage. Eh, I’ll live, but it is so disappointing after all of the leaks and rumors touted 128 GB and even 256 GB. And indeed those options are available but not for me. Waaaaaa, whine, stomp! ;)

That was one negative, and the fact that the highest 4K recording options are limited to 5 or 10 minute clips (I can’t remember the exact limit). If this phone runs as smoothly as most Note 8’s do, I expect to be very happy with the S9+. I did love the Note 7 and the S-Pen, but the Note now exceeds the dimensions and price I’m willing to take on presently. I’m interested in what Samsung may do with the rumored bendable X form factor if I’m looking at a true phablet later this year or next year. That’s more to evaluate it as a iPad mini replacement if Apple has truly killed this size.

I saw some Asian You Tube reviews that had photo comparisons with the Pixel 2 and the results were comfortably close. That’s very nice for anyone who had Pixel 2 camera envy but needed some of the extra features Samsung offers. But people who don’t want Samsung “bloat” as they call it will not need to feel like they’re missing out on the new Samsung camera features, either. They’re both equally wonderful choices, in different ways.

Another speed test for those that care. Samsung Experience 9.0 vs Pixel 2 XL stock Android. Remember how so many criticized Samsung for it's poor RAM management, and how people would go on and on about how software optimization was more important than hardware? Well, I would think, hardware vs software is best shown in a Samsung Galaxy vs a Pixel.

I'm impressed. The S9 is solid in all these comparisons. Google & Apple need to improve bigtime with their RAM management.

I disagree, the camera improvement, specifically the two apertures on the wide angle lens. That is pretty amazing for a camera phone. Looking forward to playing with that.

First world problems, I know...but I can’t choose between the blue and the lilac.
Dat blue is downright purdy though....

Arrrrgh! I know. I didn’t get to see one in person at Best Buy but I’ve seen people’s photos. Having seen the lilac in person I know when the photos are pretty accurate and what I saw of the blue in photos was stunning. But so was the lilac. My husband is definitely getting the blue. So maybe I should get the lilac to be different.

The cases I like look better in blue, though. At least I’ve ruled out black. I’m keeping my black S7 “forever”, so I want something colorful.

PS. I’m sorry for so many typos lately. I’ve been posting a lot from my iPad mini and I have a lot of trouble typing on it. I’m trying to evaluate if it has problems that might justify wiping it and setting it up fresh.

That may be but to the average consumer it's not a deal maker or breaker for other phones.

I watched the Mr Mobile review and the camera samples were no better than a Pixel 2, I'm some cases the pixel came out better. It's all about the amazing low light photography with the Pixel 2.

I find the S8/9 just not a nice design. I don't know what it is but it really doesn't do it for me in the slightest. And that double app situation coz Samsung throw so much of their own stuff onto their devices is enough to cause anyone a headache.

I do like that they haven't put a notch in there though. But then again Samsung are not as desaparate as other Android manufacturers and don't need to have one to sell devices.

Easy for me, Blue. Wife wanted Lilac but unless you get a clear case, it dont matter. Theres no way i wouldnt put a case on it, its too slippery and id be dropping it all the time which is bad news.

I didnt get the S8 so its going to be a nice upgrade for me and the Wife. Likely wont get the S10 though unless they do some dynamic upgrade, which i doubt.

I personally think the purple looks better than the blue this time around, I liked the original coral blue much better.

Man, the choices. Part of me just wants to go back to the Note 8 because this doesn't look like much of an upgrade over it. But I'm also considering the Pixel 2 XL. And of course this one. I need to win the lottery so I can own all of them.

Correct me if im wrong but the Note series is different than the regular Galaxy series in that for one, they are a lot bigger and have a S pen and dont always have the same backs to them so for me anyways, i never compare the GS8/GS8+ , GS9/GS9+ and those before them to the Notes. I always felt the Notes were always a step up so when you say the GS9 isnt a step up from the Note 8, my thought is......its not supposed to be. There will be a Note 9 for that.
