Following up on my own post thinking about it, even I must admit I'm just going through the motions ordering the S9 Plus. There isn't a single thing "exciting" about the phone.
I’m excited about the new shade of purple and the hope that this time I won’t get a pink stained display. If I do it’s going back!
Actually there’s a lot I’m excited about. But I am terribly disappointed about the regional skimping that means I get only 64 GB onboard storage. Eh, I’ll live, but it is so disappointing after all of the leaks and rumors touted 128 GB and even 256 GB. And indeed those options are available but not for me. Waaaaaa, whine, stomp!
That was one negative, and the fact that the highest 4K recording options are limited to 5 or 10 minute clips (I can’t remember the exact limit). If this phone runs as smoothly as most Note 8’s do, I expect to be very happy with the S9+. I did love the Note 7 and the S-Pen, but the Note now exceeds the dimensions and price I’m willing to take on presently. I’m interested in what Samsung may do with the rumored bendable X form factor if I’m looking at a true phablet later this year or next year. That’s more to evaluate it as a iPad mini replacement if Apple has truly killed this size.
I saw some Asian You Tube reviews that had photo comparisons with the Pixel 2 and the results were comfortably close. That’s very nice for anyone who had Pixel 2 camera envy but needed some of the extra features Samsung offers. But people who don’t want Samsung “bloat” as they call it will not need to feel like they’re missing out on the new Samsung camera features, either. They’re both equally wonderful choices, in different ways.
