Really.... Care to share how this so simple thing is done without rooting the phone then? Thanks

Here are 2 apps that can't be disabled (Samsung Email and Browser) would you like me to post 15 or 20 more that can't be disabled?

Guess it's easier to put others down in the defense of a phone then it is to have a conversation about it's shortcomings eh?

I use the samsung apps over Google versions.samsung browser is faster than chrome.

How are you calling Samsung's native apps that were optimized for the phone bloat? Samsung internet browser blows the doors off chrome in browsing

Guys, I think different models (carrier models vs unlocked vs international etc.) can act different. Some will allow you to un-install certain things and others won't. So you might both be right.

That's exactly what it is.. Yet I haven't called anyone lazy, incompetent, dumb or said they are just looking to whine about the phone.

I know for a fact I am right because I am holding the phone in my hand and it's really easy to see what can be deleted or disabled..
[doublepost=1527739451][/doublepost]
Actually, I've found the Samsung bloat to be less pronounced in slowdown over the last few generations compared to the old S2-S5 days.

So true.. I had the S2 Skyrocket (I think that's what it was called) and man o man was that sucker loaded to the hilt.. TW has also gotten MUCH better...

My S9 does not.. Had the other posters not stooped to name calling and put downs then perhaps a rational discussion could have ensued... There are a TON of apps and services on my S9 that can't be disabled or deleted.

If you look at my original post that caused the defenders to flip out, my only real gripes were with the bloat and crap that Samsung won't let me get rid of.. Other than that. it's a fine phone.. The Samsung garbage has always been my main gripe with them though..

Strange. I have already deleted the Samsung email app but here's a screenshot of the Internet app which can be completely uninstalled.

I've relegated most of those days to hyper memory nestled deep inside my brain. However, I have used vanilla Android phones and while they are fast, you still end up using stuff that'll "bloat" them in the background. Until Android's core code can be slicked up like iOS, this is going to remain an issue with consumers.

You may recall that Google is planning to become more strict in terms of security updates and bloat starting with Android P or N or whatever weird letter they came up with. I wish they'd done this years ago!

Yeah my USA AT&T version has several that can't be deleted or disabled. Not the end of the world and I plan on keeping the phone but I wish Samsung would address this further.

If I wanted their apps I am more than capable of finding them and installing them...

My S9 allows me to uninstall them. You must have some funky thing going on with your carrier's version of Samsung Experience. Even on an app that cant be disabled just hide the app using your launcher and don't use it.

The Samsung garbage has always been my main gripe with them though..

I'm also not the biggest fan of Samsung's software, but it sounds like you should put (old?) prejudices aside for a while and give the Samsung Browser a try. I expected that I'd be using Chrome, but after noticing how much smoother and quicker the Samsung Browser is, I ended up with the Samsung version and wondered when exactly did it become that good.

You're hilarious my friend.. that wit is uncanny!?

Anyway.. I was stating facts based on my stock and unrooted S9 experience.

As for the two apps, see attached.

Browser is uninstalled with an option to install from Galaxy Store and Email has an option to uninstall as I use that capable app.

Hope that helps.

My original reply to your post was me pointing out that I don't understand why people get bothered about Samsung's own apps as I just remove them from view and to all intents and purposes they are gone. Seems a perfectly reasonable point to make.
Lots of people actually prefer the Samsung apps.

Would you agree that any apps that are put on a phone by the manufacturer, that the owner cannot delete are bloatware?

A much bigger issue is where a phone manufacturer does not allow an owner to decide which apps they want to make as their default apps

Nothing funky at all going on. It's common place on many Samsung variant phones but I assume you knew that before you attempted to belittle others for not knowing what there were doing?

Strike 2!

Browser, email and numerous others can't be removed or disabled on my S9. I assume, since you are so knowledgeable and all, that you'd have known this already. Guess not.... Maybe back off the name calling and putting others down until you learn a bit more? I dunno, do as you please but it's not how I'd choose to behave.

I sure would.. I've been called out in the past for saying some of the Apple stuff is bloat and crapware.

I am not sure what you are taking my friend but maybe you need to stop playing the victim card here and try to be a little humble.

You said Samsung do not let you uninstall/remove applications on their phones as a blanket comment (they have bloat etc).

All I did was point out my experience to the contrary.. there was no name calling. You seem to have an localized issue with certain applications based on the responses on this thread.

You cannot seem to accept what more than one person has proven to you in that the "irremovable" applications you have highlighted are indeed removable on our Samsung devices.

Additionally, as a general comment.. no one is forcing you to suffer the pain of your "terrible" Samsung experience.. change phones perhaps? Samsung invest a lot of money and effort on their software experience including those applications you call "bloat" because there is a market for them.

Even if you do not need those application (uninstall/disable or even hide them from view), the least you can do is respect their efforts to meet their customer expectations by providing alternatives to the bare-bone android stock applications.

to piggy back on your comments some of the Samsung apps are better than the Google ones found in stock Android. They are more feature rich and add more functionality.

Then to be honest if someone prefers the stock Android apps...they can always buy a Pixel. The beautiful thing about Android is the freedom of choice and customization.

All I did was list the pros and cons of the phone. Some took offense to me saying I can't remove the bloat and crapware and away we went.. The fact still remains that I can't remove it. Had the Pixel and Pixel 2 and liked them well enough. I snagged the S9 because I got it for a killer price as my previous post describes. It's a fine phone and just because you dig the Samsung apps does not mean that others do..

Stock Google apps have nothing to do with this conversation as they are easily installed or removed from the S9..

The reverse is true as well though. Just because you don't like Samsung apps doesn't mean others don't like them as well.

Stock Google apps have everything to do with this conversation. Samsung and other phone makers add skins to their phones to add features and functionality that stock Android apps do not provide. That is why their are duplicate apps installed.

Again...that is beauty of Androids as whole. If you don't like the Android skin Samsung or LG installs over stock Android...don't buy those phones. Buy a Pixel or OnePlus or Nokia or others. There are a lot of choices out there and some very nice phones.

Agree and I've not attacked or called anyone names who likes them...

They have nothing to do with it.. They can be added and removed at will unlike the Samsung ones.

Why is this always the default response from some? I am well aware of other options and I've been using Androids (off and on) since 2009. My 1st was the Moto Droid (OG - Slide out KB)

Also, where did I say anything of the sort. Please do not twist what I said to fit into your narrative. I said at least 3 or 4 times already that I like the phone. Every phone has drawbacks. For me the S9's drawbacks are the apps and duplicate services that I can't remove. Did I ever say it was a deal breaker? Nope....

I used to hate the samsung browser until I used it for a few days.

It's way smoother and faster than chrome and you can install add blocking plugins that you cant on chrome.

That and the bookmarks tab is in a perfect spot to use vs re adjusting your grip to hit it on the top drop down menu in chrome.

Try the Samsung browser with no adds for a day and you will never use chrome again

I think you misconstrue my comments....first off. I did not reply to you.

Stock Android apps have everything to do with this conversation! I don't see how this is missed by you.
If the stock app were as feature rich as the Samsung ones....Samsung would not have to add their own version.

Done with this conversation. You are very snarky and seem to want to pick a fight with everyone here.....

I agree with James.. you seem to want to pick a fight? So not worth debating with you.

You seem to pick out certain parts of the texts from everyone's responses that suit your views whilst ignoring all the texts that contradict you.. making the whole debate pointless.

Peace out!

I never called you names, I just said that most people don't even try to uninstall or disable unwanted apps. Its not common place at all to not be able to uninstall Samsung apps, like I said you have something funky going on there.at a carrier level. Remember YOU made a blanket statement that the apps could not be uninstalled, multiple posters have proved you wrong. You also made the incorrect statement that Samsung "bake" their apps into the OS, this is also untrue as it is done at a CARRIER level, nothing to do Samsung. So get of your high horse!!
