Were you able to get one for your wife?

Good luck! There seemed to be a pretty decent window of opportunity I had last night to order it. I’m not surprised they sold out. I was pretty close on the decision.

Yes your trade in on the Note was a bit off,

FYI Singapore did not list anything above the S9's for trade in, not that I was trading in :)

If they would give me the same $700 for the Note as they offered for the S20, it would have made this doable. But I completely understand how they set these values for incentivization and I know that Samsung know they didn't need to do that to move the desired number of Flips. There are a lot of naysayers on these forums, but we've seen repeatedly that forum sentiments don't always reflect what happens out in the world at large.

Huh, didn't know there was a late night release for this thing. Check Sammy's website a couple days for fun and didn't see anything about pricing or pre-order like they did with the 20.

Been wanting something different since I'm pretty bored with tech nowadays

Gonna keep it on my radar for a couple months down the road
I’m sorry but relieved I didn’t go for it. I know that makes no sense. My feelings for this phone are complicated.

What has caught my eye the most about this phone is the ’ultra thin flexible glass’ they’re using. I’ll never forgo a glass smartphone for one using a plastic display, regardless of its configuration. However, a refined version 2 of the Galaxy Fold using bendable glass and a better front display... that is something I could get behind.

With S-Pen

The plastic display has been fine in truth :)

Samsung website told me on the "notify me" page more due in on the 21st. Just FYI

This would be an impulse purchase if I go for it.

the more I see video reviews of the Flip the more I want one. But can't afford the Flip and the S20 Ultra

The Flip would go nicely with my Pixel 4XL and 11 Pro Max!

Yeah you're like me and have the money to own a "lineup" but not enough to just catch em all like a bunch of Pokemon. We are both parents. We have responsibilities and other interests to look out for. We have to be strategic about our purchases and see how any new purchase will fit in with what we already own. Then we have to evaluate which existing ones to part with.

My Pixel 3XL lost trade in value except for this narrow window of opportunity to be worth a healthy $300 again. Getting rid of it fortunately doesn't leave me out of the Pixel game because my Pixel 2 updated nicely. It's still in the game and still was my second phone until a couple of weeks ago.

That little Snowball was one of the best phone purchases and bangs for the buck I've ever made. I could not have predicted that after the rough start we all had on second generation Pixels. All those returns! Lol. It was even still under free extended warranty until recently. My Pixel 3XL is almost out of warranty, too.

Anyway, the strategizing is part of the fun for me. I love seeing a nice little team come together. Yeah, I'm weird. Oh well, some people collect stamps. I don't quite understand the thrill in that, myself, but to each their own. I do have other interests and hobbies, too.

I think what makes the clamshell such an enticing choice for most, including the non tech enthusiasts, is the foldable glass. The plastic screen was too easily dimpled with a fingernail for people's liking. But the Ultra Thin Glass is game changer. The phone also looks so polished and still very premium. The plastic Razr in comparison is very cheap looking. Then there's the fact that folding the phone protects the screen from drops. I'll definitely be getting a foldable, as soon as it has a flagship camera setup. The Fold 2 will have the Ultra Thin Glass for sure, and if it gets the Ultra's camera as well, I'll most definitely get the Fold 2.

I get all concerns on plastic vs glass and folding mechanisms etc but the reality is different

Like borrowing a friends $100k car the 1st mile is the hardest by the time you get home your in sports mode and floored it several times and there are no scratches LOL, day 2 no concerns

These devices by Samsung are coming with great warranties and support even Apple cannot rival

More often or not just dumping one subscription or option service for a year easily makes up a large part of the delta if you really struggling to justify :) most of us are paying some monthly thing and just too lazy to cancel it due to FOMO

Let me help you spend your money ......... get it :D

(My appols in advance to those easily offended on finance advice :) it's meant in fun)

I checked this out at Best Buy today. It looked and felt dated.
Dated? But these haven't existed before. 🤔

I guess I need to see the Flip for myself and maybe I'll get a sense for what you mean. I didn't know the were at Best Buy. I want to go see one, but I'm still sick and don't want to leave my germs on something the rest of the public will be handling.

Can't imagine a device with folding glass and a punch hole display could look and feel dated. When it's open, it looks like any other current slab device. As soon as that sucka folds, now that's when the magic happens. Oh yeah! On a more serious note, foldables are the future, and from the overall reaction of the general tech community, this is the device that'll truly introduce foldables to the mainstream.
