I need to stop scrolling through twitter and YouTube. So tempted by fold 4 lol

It seems a nice refinement from last year. The free case actually looks good this year with kickstand and s pen holder

how likely is it that the screen protector bubbles or peels? That is what is holding me back!
Umm.. YMMV on that one. I think it’s a manner of how much a user is folding and unfolding can determine the bubbling or peeling. But once it happens.. replace it. I‘ve had Samsung do it before, but this was part of a repair service… however, I replaced mine myself twice with no issues.

I did read they changed the adhesive used for the 4 series, so hopefully they last longer this go round.

Swapped my 13 Pro Max for the Fold 4 and loving it so far.

Had always been interested in the Fold series since they initially announced it, however held off until now.

There's only really afew things I miss from the Apple ecosystem:

  • iMessage - not a total deal breaker as alot of UK is using WhatsApp
  • Apple Pay - only my Amex and Monzo support Google Pay, whereas all my accounts support Apple Pay.
  • Apple Watch - primarily used it for Apple Pay, so may checkout the Samsung Watch at some point.
I find one handed use is actually easier than on the iPhone Pro Max.

I'll likely be back on the iPhone when they release a foldable, however, until then will stick with the Fold.

Awesome great that you're enjoying it.. have you looked at Samsung pay? I don't use it but maybe more cards are supported?

Replied to this already in the other Flip thread, you should get at least 8 to 10 months before you see any issues if you are unlucky, usually its a free replacement on something that already is a disposable item, my F3 had a minor lift of just a couple of mm at one end, too minor to be of a concern and not a show stopper

Looking at the screen protector on the 4, it seems to have a different center design than the one on the 3, it curves in slightly at the edge of the hinge, hopefully that will help.

Yep that's where both my Wife's Flip 3 and my Fold 3 lifted but as I noted very minor and only a couple on mm.

Strangely no issues on my F1 and F2

Hopefully it should help it not to happen again, here is how it looks with the newly designed screen protector, quite subtle.

Lol, has anyone ever gotten awkward looks with your Fold? I know we're on version 4, but its still not a very well-known device in the States.

This older lady asked me, "Baby, is that an iPad Mini? My grandson has one of those." LOL! I explained to her it was a Samsung phone, and she was taken back and shocked at the technology nowadays.

Apple is really going to make foldable mainstream in the States once they introduce theirs in a few years. I can definitely see Stage Manager on it.

Oh yeah… it blows people minds when you showcase it folds and unfolds!

If Apple does the foldable right it could very well end my device hopping nature. iPad OS on a folding phone would likely seal the deal for me staying in the walled garden. I'm loving my Fold 4 but I sure find myself reaching for the 13PM alot. With everyone I know having iPhones it's just so convenient.

This was my first time doing the trade in promotion with Samsung and through various forums… I read plenty of horror stories. From phone gone missing to Samsung giving them trouble. But I’m here to report… the process was straight forward and a success.

It probably will eventually, but samsung will replace it for free under warranty at any breakfix store, which are all over the place. Or you can buy one on Amazon for $10 or so and DYI. It's just a regular screen protector, nothing special.

So with my Z Fold 4 seeming to be broken, I boxed it up for return. I was in my makeshift office out back yesterday (workshop) and my wife texts me that my package has an alarm going off. I opened the box and the phone was now on! It seems to work just fine, so must have been a software thing.

I had remote wiped it, so once I connected to the wifi, it wiped and rebooted. I had to set everything up again. But, I'm back in business.

Packing up the Fold4 right now to send back. It really is an awesome device, but the pain is just too high not being in the Apple ecosystem. Here is my list of issues that drove me to this decision:

1. iMessage - yes I know I can make this work. but all of my friend, family..etc have iPhones. And I am the only one degrading their messaging experience, or asking them to use Google photos for full quality vids and pics. And don't get me started not the group text crap that I get ...ugh. ridiculous that Apple has not made this better, but I get it.

2. CarPlay - I have a 2019 Porche...which only supports CarPlay and no AndroidAuto. Tryin to text or even make calls in the car is downright dangerous. Also I had to go back to the Porsche navigation...which I forgot how bad it was..etc. Way too painful in the car using android..and android.

3. Beach - I am a frequent beach goer ...and jetski'er. So I would swap between the Fold and an iPhone. It is just too hard having stuff on each device. Especially text messages, different versions of texts...etc. I did find a way to sync each phone before the swaps. but just a pain in the butt. Apple keeps everything in sync across devices, seamlessly.

I wish there was easier integration between Apple/Android. But with everyone I know on Apple, I need to be as well.
