In the real world, I don't think durability or sand would be an issue. Excellent engineering.
Haven’t watched the vid. Watching phones get destroyed isn’t exactly my thing, but on the subject of video content. I’m surprised MKBHD haven’t came out with his vid… not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.

Interesting turn of events. Well, back nearly two years ago when I purchased the Fold 2 I really tried to use the cover display. But I couldn’t get past how unusable it was, too narrow and the experience was terrible (imo). So, I took it upon myself to avoid using the cover display all together. Decided to get a sleeve instead for protection and from then on… this was my approach.

Fast forward to now, I no longer have to use the sleeve anymore… the experience using the cover display has improved immensely! Typing from the cover display no longer results in errors and navigating through apps is quite usable compared to the Fold 2. Had to share this discovery because this was a huge benefit for me.

Agree 100%. I went from exclusively using the inside display to using the outside display a majority of the time. That along with the improvements in battery and camera make it a keeper. I would like just a little more width on the front display to make it perfect but I'm sure we will get there as they further refine the design. I keep wanting to put my sim back in my iPhone just because that's what I've always gone back to but that urge is getting less and less everyday. Going to be hard to use a slab as these foldables improve.

What makes you want to use the iPhone ? Tbh I’ve moved to androids before (s7 edge and Huawei p30 pro) and each time I’ve went back to iPhone. More so for iMessage and FaceTime etc but WhatsApp fills the gap. But this really interests me and I’d love to get it but would need to be sure, would be moving from iPhone 11. I know the 14s around the corner but more of the same old design. At least this is different.

Pretty much the only reason is iMessage and Facetime. There are some things with ios I like better but I'm really ok with either os. In the past the gap in app quality was an issue but that's not really the case anymore. Apple has just really become stagnant with their devices. Slight camera upgrades and processor bumps. Meh. I like my Fold4, S22U, and even the Pixel 6 Pro more than I do the 13PM.

Been giving Airmessage a run to get iMessage and Facetime on my Fold and so far it's worked pretty well. There are some inconveniences but it is definitely making me feel like I'm not dependent on my iPhone like I have been in the past.

You guys who need iMessage and Facetime are always going to need iMessage and Facetime so why even bother looking at Android phones?

Wouldn’t say I need it. WhatsApp more than fills the gap. More so with friends with both iOS and Android. And iPhone won’t make flips/folds anytime soon so in other words will remain the same boring design. Til they bring out a decent telephoto lens it’s pointless upgrading.

Because, plain and simple, i'm a phone and tech nut. Had every Fold, every Pixel (except the 5 and A series) every Galaxy S and Note except the original Galaxy S and original Note, and every iPhone except the 4s.

BUT, I've become pretty bored with everything but the Fold. To the point I can see myself going with the Fold and Pixel every year moving forward and nothing else. It's a device that checks nearly all the boxes (camera still could use some work) and also eliminates the need for a tablet (although i'm keeping my Tab S8 Ultra). I'm the only one in my circle that has a preference for Android devices and it makes things hard at times. I know there are work arounds but my kids/wife/family/buddies don't understand this and it's a pain to have to explain to everyone how to upload media and send a link.

That’s a good point. But I think it’s one of those situations were users wanna see what’s on the other side… curiosity, I would say.

I admit I‘ve done it throughout the years… going back in forth between iPhone and Android, but I never quite got over the hurdle until I decided enough was enough. I enjoyed Android to the point where I didn’t care if people in my circle questioned it. But then again we were still able to exchange iMessages (via my iPad)… so, it wasn’t a huge issue.

That's why I just carry a small iphone 12 Pro along with a best Android phone .

I've tried to do both but never been able to live with it. Do you use your main SIM in the iPhone and answer call calls on it effectively making the Fold a tablet?

Yeah, I have an iphone 13 mini (had the pro max but too big with my fold). Now, I use the iPhone more than before because of its small size. My Fold still is my daily driver.
Nice combo ... Yeah def can see the 13 Max too much to carry ... I will be going really small with the Flip and 12 starting next week

I was going to get a Flip 4. Actually ordered one but cancelled it. I just can't bring myself to part with my S22U. Going to have to try a Flip one of these days.

I had the Flip 3 for a short time and was a good experience minus the battery ..I don't expect the 4 to outlast my Ultra but I figure end of day I can jump back on Ultra early next year or go Fold 5 ...

What does the crease look like on these Folds after 12-18 months? Does it gradually get worse? It's the one thing that puts me off, I just cannot imagine me gelling with a creased display...

Finally got my F4 as release date was 2nd of September here in KL

Glad to see in Asia we still get dual physical sim tray and E Sim support

Not sure if I like the bundled case I much prefer a flip case so only scan fingerprint is required and no press to unlock, plus the S Pen silo is very tight

In 12-18 months, Samsung would be out with the Fold5 and have such an amazing trade-in that you wouldn't even keep the device that long. Lol.

Well, for me. I had my Fold 2 since launch… crease appeared the same from when I recently sent it off for trade in as to when I first laid eyes on it. And this span for nearly 2 years.

Well I'm now seriously considering selling my Tab S8 I'm just not using it since getting the F4, it's just so much more easier to hold while slumped on the sofa compared to the Tab S8 & the inner screen big enough to watch movies etc comfortably, watched the 2 episodes of Lord Of The Rings on it no problem at all.

The only thing I'll miss on the S8 is Dex, i have a Samsung keyboard cover & comes in handy sometimes as a small laptop for doing bits & bobs of work on.

It's a shame the F4 doesn't have built in Dex mode like the Tab S8 ect, that be awesome then as a super ultra portable laptop.

This is why I keep a portable monitor specifically for DeX. I know most prefer to use something like a NexDock… but I like having a monitor whereas I can choose what keyboard and mouse I use.

(imo) if a phone has DeX capabilities then its essential for a user to take advantage of it. I think of it as an accessory to a phone similar to a case, smartwatch or wireless charger. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling someone to replace their laptop with DeX… but it is a nice option to have.

It’s impressive the package we get with the Galaxy Fold… phone, tablet and then a user can get accessories to use as a laptop/desktop (DeX).
