It's setup to automatically sync every 30 minutes. If you don't want that, you open the app, go to settings and click on the email you want to modify. From there it will give you an option to sync if your account is Gmail or if it isn't it will give you an option to control your sync frequency under the data usage header.
I have followed your steps but I can't see no option under g mail settings where I can choose the frequency of syncs!

Agreed with the above. The one area where I would give the Note 8 a better Mark is that I can use the sports mode. When trying to take pictures of your kids that are constantly moving it comes in handy! Much less blurry pictures!

There is also a "dual shot" plugin. This can take photo/video using both front/rear cam simultaneously.

So my Note8 arrived today and I am really enjoying it so far. Very New though so too early to make a proper verdict.

Iris Scanning is a bit meh. Fingerprint scanner isn't as annoying to me as it seems to be to everyone else.

The UK version of the playstore doesn' seem to have podcasts though which is about the only annoying thing I have found today.

Any advice on what to use for podcasts would be appreciated !

Agree with you that the FPS placement isn't as big of an issue as its made. There are even some advantages to it being on the back, particularly for one handed use. If you have your Note 8 in a case, it gives you a reference point to more easily hit it.

I'm using Podcast Player FM for podcasts. I started with Podcast Addict and it was flagged for being a runaway app killing my battery, so I removed it and tried this one. It works great and the controls in Android Auto are all good.

I don't have that option on mine? Even after downloading the plug in. Obviously I have live focus pictures but nothing like that for video.

For whatever reason, Gmail only let's you set sync frequency on non Gmail accounts. If you are using a Gmail account, it only gives you the option to sync or not to sync.

Samsung has blocked the use of most 3rd party fonts. you have to find a font that is signed/made by monotype. If you search XDA or reddit, you can find a few on there that others have posted.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72054000&postcount=4

just download the apk and then install it to your phone (make sure to turn on "allow unknown sources" in the security settings of your phone). and then the fonts will show up under display settings of the phone

EDIT: here's a few I have downloaded and used (DRIVE Link)

You can choose whatever you like. Go with the service that you feel comfortable with. I know my phone is backed up with Google and I think Samsung too. Lol. I don't even remember if I set that up or not.

My Samsung preorder gift arrived. .

Not bad for a $1000 device, got DeX, a BT Keyboard and BT Headphones free, with the phone. Not to mention the slim cover that was in the box with the phone these are the most freebies I've received with a new phone.
73a2c34f969782badee0cc11f455da78.jpg

Funny thing is this is a phone that came a 3.5mm jack, good 3.5mm jack headphones and on top of that BT Headphones, the funny part is that there are phones out there with no 3.5mm jack that come with crappy dongles that has a 3.5mm jack and you have to purchase the BT Headphones at a ridiculous price

Anyway, i digress, these BT headphones will come in handy especially when using DeX

apk is just an installer file, like .exe on windows. once you download it, just click on it and it'll give you the option to "install".

Thanks, thought you were talking about the Note.

works on my Note too, I just installed them. the clean font apk installed a few fonts but those didn't work, but these work (see screenshot). I just installed them and was able to select and use GoudySans. Are you actually installing the apks? or just downloading them?

We've got our wires crossed, I was talking about the dual shot camera function. Which doesn't appear to be on the Note 8.

Around 25% to 35% with auto brightness off. I simply turn auto brightness back on when I go outside.
Yeah same here, I turn On Auto Brightness outside.

Well I have dropped it back down to 40%, I really tried to live with 50% but gosh is it incredibly bright at that point.

50% brightbess is a nice setting for both Indoors and Outdoors if you want consistency, but it got a bit intense for me when indoors, my eyes tend to be quite sensitive to bright light.
