Thanks, I tried that this morning and it says "Your phone number is not registered with iMessage." So it definitely disconnected on my end, but others iPhones are still trying to send me iMessages.

it's going to take a while to get cleared out. It sucks. I hate how iMessage can have a strangle hold on your number.

did you deregister your number from iMessage (and FaceTime) on any other apple devices like macs and iPads? do that too.

Yes, disabling it on my Macbook was one of the first things I thought. You are right though, apparently its just taking time to propagate into other's devices. The last couple of folks who were having problems magically seem to have started working. Thanks for all your help folks, so far I'm really happy with my switch. I was extremely nervous to the point of almost backing out but now that I've done it I feel a huge sense of relief and excitement. The Note 8 is an extremely slick and powerful device and, for my use, makes the iPhone X seem a little too underwhelming.

If you have a lot of music in iTunes with playlist and so forth. You can sync them using an app called iSyncr. You install it on your Mac or PC and on your Android phone. It will sync all of your music for you.

I picked up a cheap used Note 8, it is amazing how much higher end looking it is over my OG Pixel XL. I took a low light test shot with it, my pixel and my a6500. See if you can guess which is which

I just sold my S8+ on Craigslist for my asking price. I still have my Note 8 and I'm using my 7+ as my daily still due to my Apple watches. I'm selling all my excess devices since I bought entirely too many phones over the last year.

I wanted to sell the S8+ while I could still get more then half the price I paid at BestBuy last summer. I'm skipping Android this year though since my Note 8 is practically brand new and has only left my house maybe 20 times since launch.

I have three lines on T-Mobile so I have one in the Note 8, 7+ and 6S+. I think I'll try and sell off two of my three S7 Edge phones now.

Hey all, I was looking for some advice. I don't post off and on here but you guys seem to have the best and honest opinions. I have an iPhone 8 plus and a Galaxy Note 8. I cannot decide which phone I want to use as my daily driver. My biggest Pro on the iPhone 8 plus is the battery life is unbelievable. I cannot figure out how to upload a picture on here but I'm a pretty heavy user and right now it's 7:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. I charged my phone 21 hours and 57 minutes ago and my usage time is 8 hours and 2 minutes and I have 28% left of battery.. to me that's the best battery life I've ever seen on a phone. I like the camera better on the iPhone 8 plus. As far as everything else I like the note better. I love the big screen as well as a lot of the customization features as well as video. I wanted everybody's opinion on how important battery life is on a phone. It's kind of ridiculous as I don't live in a desert where I have no Outlets. I have all kinds of devices to charge my phone, it's just a mental thing of loving to not have to worry about being near a charger or having to use a phone that's plugged in. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions as I really appreciate it

Not sure what is wrong with me but I just ordered the Note 8 for the 4th time. Just so sick of my iPhone. Hopefully this time its a keeper

Trust me, I know what it's like to buy a phone more than once. I'm not sure what comes over us that makes us buy something then return it then want to get it back. Can you elaborate on what the scenario was that made you buy and sell the Note 3 times? What did you return them or sell them for

I do this often as well. What it comes down to is once you get that device, you initially love the different way of doing the same thing. Once little annoyances start to creep in and show its ugly face, you want to reach back to familiarity that your use to. Once back with your old flame, your back to surrounding yourself with what you know. Until it starts becoming stale again and then the cycle repeats itself.

I think for people like us, we need to keep that one android you love and that one iPhone you love. Then you can switch at will. However, it sucks having money tied to a device that is sitting there while you use the other. Pick your poison I guess.

In advance I’m using talk to text so I apologize for any grammar errors. I have actually thought about this and try to make a smart decision. I like having one android and one iPhone. To be honest I love the Samsung galaxy note screen as well as how well the browsers work on the phone. I like that I could make a lot of things bigger as far as font wise in certain browsers as well as just having a 6.3 screen makes you feel like you have the best of the best. I don’t like the camera on the galaxy that much and the battery life drives me crazy. It’s really annoying when eight minutes into charging it to 100% of drops to 99 where the iPhone 8+ will stay on 100% for a good 45 minutes . I actually bought the iPhone X on two different occasions and returned them both times. how crazy is this one, I rebought it because I love the way you could go into the multitasking feature by just swiping the bottom bar as opposed to having to double click the home button. I’m sure the guy who bought the note 4 times must of had the same type of simple things that made them drawback to it. Another thing I like about the note is that it has a back button on the bottom right. I can’t stand having to double tap the home screen to use reachability so it drops down so that I could tap the top left. All in all I really am torn. Battery life is a Huge factor to me and I just feel like the iPhone gives that amazing battery life and it just works seamlessly. The note in my opinion has had no lag whatsoever. Having six gigs of RAM has that thing speedy fast. I know passed galaxies always have ram issues

I don't think anyone else can tell you what rank batter life should be on your priorities. I came from a 6s+ to Note 8 and they have comparable battery life. There is no way to do a direct comparison because I have had so many apps on each, and a watch with each. Just tweaking a single app and its notifications can have an impact on battery life, so I would never waste my time trying to do any scientific analysis. They both last my day, and I do also have "plug in" options throughout my day. I do love the Note 8's tools to extend battery too... in the rare cases I've been squeezed, I just went there and did a little tweak. I have also noticed at the Note 8 lasts a lot longer on the lower end of the scale than the iPhones. When my iPhone hit 10%, I better be plugging in very quickly. With the Note 8, I've stretched that a long time in a couple of cases.

I have the iphone 7 plus for more or less a year now and the note battery is comparable to my iPhone 7 plus - on heavy usage. However, Note 8 have a bit less on standby which is most what everyone commented on. So, iPhones get good standby battery.

In case anyone is not aware running the note 8 on mid level power saver will extend the battery by at least a hour of SOT without noticeably impactinh performed

I might try that until my wireless charging dock arrives then I want to run it on high performance mode. This thing is a beast! I love it so much! Also, the charger for my macbook is the same USB-C. Do anyone know I can use that charger? I now I love the fact I can use it for both my Macbook and phone. I already used it several times to charge my phone but I was wondering if it damages the battery which I hope it does not lol.

You can use it but it will charge faster with the Samsung charger

Can you explain why it's slower?
Samsung uses quick charge 2.0 in their phones. The charger needs to have a specific chip inside it. I change phones a lot so I have other chargers that are rated for it, even then my note is very picky only working with certain ones, and with nice thick gauge USB cables.

Very annoying since I had to change my Anker car charger, and the old LG v20 brick with oem Samsung models to get fast charging. Both should be qualified.

I think I’ll return to the Note 8 until the Pixel 3 comes out and then go with that.

Does it have project treble? What about the other features the S9+ software has?

For the most part it's pretty much the same.

I can't tell if Project Treble is included. I highly doubt it, as it's only a requirement for phones released with Oreo, not updated to.

I've noticed so far .......

New features in keyboard. Emojis, gifs, sticker, and etc.

Long press is Oreo like version, and catered to the specific app features. But no more sleep option in the menu which was convenient on the Touchwiz version with Nougat. Also, long press has the option to preview the last notification of the app.

App folders have manual color option instead of just pre-color selections.

It shows the Security Patch level on the Software update screen. (As well as the usual place in settings).

About Phone section in settings has a differ layout.

It shows my BT headphone battery status. Not in percentage though. It just says "Very high" at the moment.

Has a list view option for recent apps.

The Game Launcher folder is graphically nicer.

I also think the animation time have been cut slightly, probably like 1/3. It's noticeable, but not too obvious.

To add on to Note 8 Oreo changes .....

You can set the app badges to show number on notifications or just the dot without numbers. Also, if you clear notifications from the notifications tray, the badge will go away as well.

You can set differ clock styles to the lock screen, and change the color.

Samsung account user icon on top right corner of settings.

When you keep tapping the build number to access developer options, you have to enter your password to activate it. If you turn developer options off, it will disappear from the settings menu. You will have to tap the build number again, and enter password to reactive it.

Slight UI change in Edge Panel. Like more pronounced outer edge.
