My battery is taking forever to calibrate. I am showing 14 hrs right now at 100%. It should be at like 20-26 hrs, no?

I love the S-Pen on my Note 8. Especially the magnifier option which allows me to quickly move around the screen and magnify areas up to 300%.

It reminds me of the magnifier on Windows but much more useful on a small phone screen to help see and select detsils.

Maybe next Saturday I should check to see how long of battery life I get. Browsing and streaming video shouldn't be too hard on the battery. I'd check this Saturday, but at some point I'm going to be heading out for a birthday party and kind of need my phone to be charged.

Does anyone know a good case they can recommend for the note 8?
Obviously something that will protect the phone!!!!

He's wrong on the battery life though. Many are praising its long lasting battery . Many get almost 7 hours. I get way more than my iPhone 7 plus.
Is their any things you recommending turning off in order to prolong battery?

eGlobal are now selling the Dual Sim variant for €850 .... that's €500 cheaper than 256gb iPhone X here.

I still really need to have a try on a working model and not the crappy dummy model that carphonewarehouse had last time I tried.

Also .... you may have seen this.

His S8 was like mine re: ram (actually he got 1 more app open than me) but the Note 8 destroyed it dramatically and answers my biggest issue that made me sell my S8.
Lol oh man, I posted that video a while back and it was posted again, each time people tried to tag you saying you'd appreciate it

Yep. The RAM on the Note8 is amazing, I never worry about apps being closed now. Checked how much RAM was available earlier today and it was sitting on 3GB RAM, lol! Madness!

Lol I tried to avoid temptation reading too much

But yeah, I'm going to wait till end of October and see what the Pixel 2 XL finally offers, and if V30 gets a release or price on import and will then make an educated decision on what to buy.

Even though I have the money set aside for the iPhone X, I just can't ignore the price difference when it amounts to essentially another phone I could buy.

Now I need to just get a proper hands-on. The plastic dummy model (why do some phone stores use those pieces of crap) felt fine width wise, just very very tall. I want to try a real device and the pen and make a decision then.

The V30 is a brilliant device, the audio & camera hardware and video capabilities are well ahead of the Note8. I wouldn't blame you if went for it over the Note.

In terms of what you felt with the dummy model, that is exactly how the Note8 is, it's quite tall but not wide, so it's well in the hand and it has quite a bit of heft to it, feels very see solid.

Is it worth getting insurance with this phone

I took an accidental damage insurance with Vodafone for £7. Thinking of cancelling it....

£84 per annum (10% of the retail price of the device) doesn't sound too bad compared to the cost replacing the screen alone should it break (£200-250), let alone if the device was stolen.

Here insurances on devices with Vodafone are €180 per annum which is a lot harder to justify by comparison.

So another thing I’ve noticed is that the quality of the audio output via headphones is much better even compared to the S7 edge I had last year.

Hmm maybe I should pay an extra £4 and get theft cover.
The thing is I've never ever lost my phone or really broken it so I'm thinking it's a waste of money.

Isn't that the catch with all insurances. Now the price of phones has gone through the roof, im starting to think insurances are a good way of protecting your investment. It only takes that 1 time, that 1 accident or incident ... £879 is a lot of money to rebuy it should it be stolen or destroyed beyond repair.

At the end of the day it's a personal choice, and no right or wrong answer. Do what you think is the best for you

That's true. If I were to lose it I would have to basically buy a new phone.

I've heard some horror stories about insurance companies....once you lose your phone they make it hard to get a new one etc....I better read Vodafones terms conditions

Well, most likely returning mine. Just really couldn't get used to the narrow/tall factor and those curved edges sucked, false touches, glare, distortion, etc. I'm having some issues with touchwiz as well that I'm not thrilled with. Don't get me wrong, it's a freakin tremendous phone and worth every single penny IMO, and that screen completely destroys anything else out there. But it's just not for me. I'm going to wait to see what the XL2 brings, will keep the v30 and Mate 10 in the back of my mind, and try to see if I get lucky and snatch a couple of iPhone X's.

Well, that's too bad but it's not like you have a dearth of choices. I absolutely love my Note, and I shall be grabbing an X as soon as I can. The good news for me is even if the X doesn't get to me until late in the year or early next, I'm perfectly content with the Note, and then I get the best of both Android and iOS for the rest of next year.

Yeah I can see anyone being very happy with the Note, just a tremendous piece of technology. I know I'm very much in the minority, but I just can't deal with the form factor. Even the 18:9 phones are going to seriously annoy me and I've certainly considered just staying with a 8 plus or pixel xl1. But I think I can stomach 18:9 going forward, as long as it has a flat screen.

I got some hands on recently. There's not much to say that hasn't already been said.

This thing is both beauty and beast.

As fate has it, I was able to get s good deal on an unlocked one today so I pulled the trigger. The person who sold it now wants the IPX.

He has deep pockets and kind of felt he owes me for some work I have done for him which I did not charge him for so instead of returning it he sold it to me.
