Is it bad that my primary use for the S-Pen is live messages? Secondary use is showing off my S-Pen.

I just use the fingerprint sensor. It's really not that bad having it in the back of the phone. I have an OtterBox case on my phone so the cutout makes it easy to find exactly where to place my finger.

Makes it difficult when I have it laying down and have to pick it up, especially if my other hand is busy, or if I have it in the car holder. It wouldn't be so bad if there was an alternative, but facial recognition and iris scanner both kind of suck. I've actually just gone back to using a PIN as it seems to be the most reliable.

So far I'm really considering returning it, I just really hate the screen aspect. Not sure if I would like the X either, so now I'm vacillating back to the v30 and hopefully the XL2. Otherwise I'll probably just trade up my 7+ for a 8+ and may just be happy with that until next year when hopefully there will be a X+.

Such a tough call. A couple days ago I was sold on getting the Note 8 but I really like the iOS 11 update that came today. Plus there’s that whole ecosystem that keeps me coming back to Apple. Might end up going with the iPhone X and if I don’t like it, at least I’ll be able to sell it for a high price and be able to buy the Note.

Managed to sneak in a free dex station. Samsung was running a promotion for a free dex station for pre-orders over here, all that bought before release where eligible for a free dex station through the members app. Release was on Friday but I tried registering today and got a mail saying dex will ship in 3-5 days.

I applied on Monday and I’ve not heard anything back from Samsung yet.

Anyone have issues where they turn off their phone or restart it and it prompts you to enter your PIN/FP or scan your eyes? I have noticed it from time to time.

It's a security feature called secure start up. Best thing if you lose your phone and want to locate it. The person who "finds" your phone can't turn it off to stop you from locating it.

What members app?

the correct way for this is to have smart lock keep the phone unlocked when connected to your bluetooth device. its an android feature since forever and means you don't have to fanny around with the fp either on the front of the back. With smart lock its just a swipe.

V30 has the same ratio last I checked.

I do have smartlock setup when it connects to my location at home, work and when it connects to my vehicles Bluetooth. But to me this is a security concern, why bother having security when the phone is fully unlockable at home, work and in my car? Sure it helps if the phone is lost, well unless it's lost near my home, work or car.

Smartlock seems iffy as well. Often it asks for my PIN even though I'm at home/work/in car, I haven't figured out why.

v30 is 18:9, which is better than the Note 8's 18.5:9, but it also does not have curved edges which means more usable screen space on the sides. It's also better than the iPhone X which is around 19:1.

Anyone know why my Note 8 screen keeps turning on when it's charging? It turns off, then every few seconds turns on again until it's fully charged. I have to have it face down while I sleep, and it still turns on face down.

Your wireless? charger wall plug isn't powerful enough.

I don't consider the note 8 curved at all. Nothing like the s8.
