weird. I don't have an accessories option under advanced features. Are you on a carrier model or unlocked? mine is the unlocked model from samsung.com

I'm on a T-mobile US carrier model. Try typing fast wireless charging under search.

Or maybe it doesn't show, because a wireless charger was never detected? I do know it was the only option under accessories. Maybe if connected to a S-view case or Dex, the accessories menu will appear.

search reveals nothing. the phone detects the wireless chargers and says it's charging but it doesn't actually charge. It just loses power. The WC aspect of this phone doesn't work. I'm on hold with Samsung now... 30 minutes in... another ~30 min to go :rolleyes:

thanks for all your help, though!

Sorry your having some issues. Hopefully Samsung can sort an advanced replacement so your not left without for a period especially when it's a brand new device.

I hope so! when I had to return my first Galaxy S8, they made me return and purchase another one. I hope they just send a replacement one this time. I saved $50 with a unidays discount and the $300 G4 trade in (I haven't shipped the G4 back yet).

In good news I got a text from O2 saying that they have reduced the price of the galaxy note 8 tariffs and that I'll be getting a £92 credit to my account even though I pre-ordered before the prices were reduced.

Bleh, I gotta say I'm hating how tall and narrow this thing is. I'm just hoping it's my brain and I'm not used to it yet, but I keep thinking about how much space is wasted versus having it be 16:9. I'm also really annoyed with the large amount of glare coming off those side curves, my office is all fluorescent lit so maybe that's why. The glare isn't so bad in my personal office, which is lit with soft white LED bulbs.

The screen is gorgeous, the colors wow. I forgot what colors look like after having an iPhone for the past year. Face recognition isn't as fast as others said it was, it still takes half a second after double tapping the home button for it to recognize my face, and I do have the option set for fast face recognition but lower security enabled.

I never had much luck with the facial recognition being fast for me. The Iris scanner is near instant for me though.

Haha take a breath. Use it for a week. Stop automatically ticking boxes of what you don't like. Give yourself a shot to enjoy your new gadget. Sometimes because there are so many new choices, I think our brains start treating these things like songs on a radio: constantly changing channel because we're convinced there's a better song on elsewhere.

Note: I'm not saying you're doing something "wrong". Just that you've been looking forward to this device, you got it, now run it through its paces before deciding on any one thing pro or con.

Lol, perfect advice. I think it's just my brain memory, I guess we will all get used to the new narrow form factor. I'm really digging some other stuff like the AOD and they really souped up touchwiz. I'm not sure if I'm going to go back to Nova launcher or give TW a chance.

yep, looks that way. dangit. This is a time where I wish Samsung had physical stores like Apple. I'd have my replacement today if it was an Apple device. Now I have to wait on hold for an hour just to talk to someone at Samsung and let them figure out how to exchange the device, which will take several business days just to figure out.

This is exactly why i could never use a Samsung as a business phone, great toy though.

I happen to love Samsung Experience (TW), so I leave it at stock. But I'm really not a fiddler so I'm not a good judge of that stuff.

Haha! Yeah getting used to the 18:9 ratio is weird bit I am getting there, just watched Narcos Season 3 episode 7 in wide screen then went back to portrait, what a mind boggling experience from super wide to super narrow, Lol!

WRT Unlocking, why not use Iris Scanning? Seems to work great for me.

Watching Narcos S3 also hehe, it's not as good as S1/2 but it's warming up a bit about episode 6. Back on topic, I'll have to try Iris scanner. My N8 seems to have "forgotten" my face for some reason (no I'm not ugly), it stopped recognizing my face and I had to delete and set it up again. Also didn't realize it, but face recognition doesn't work in the dark or even in dim lighting, so I guess that's another reason to use the iris scanner. Although with both it's annoying to use when the phone is flat on my desk as I have to lean over the phone. Oh well, guess I can mess around with smartlock.

[doublepost=1505787741][/doublepost]AOD themes, really? REALLY? I must say I really missed Samsung's creativity, I spent the last 2 hours just going through themes and icons to my wife's consternation, and now I found AOD themes!!! Yeah the phone is growing on me a bit.

So I didn't plan on getting a Note 8 but AT&T was canvasing our area hard and offered us a huge savings on all of our services including a BOGO offer on phones.

Overall I moved cable, home phone, internet and moved from a 15gb mo. plan to unlimited and even added a 6th device (New iPhone 8) and saved $197 per month doing so! The only commitment is a 2yr contract on the phone plan.

So it looks like my new Black Note 8 to replace my Note 5 and then my son has earned the iPhone 8 which we pick up when it is available. Not a bad deal IMO to get both top-shelf phones for the price of one.

Is there that AT&T bloat like usual?

Samsung renamed Touchwiz to Samsung Experience.

Don't know. Probably? My Note 5 once upgraded to the latest OS finally ran perfectly fine/smooth even with all the bloat left on. I use an app to shut it all down but no longer. I'll find out on the Note 8 in a few days.

Oh I thought you already had it lol

Wait, so they gave you the iPhone 8 for free? Was this a BOGO deal with the Note 8? I thought you could only go all Samsung or all apple on the BOGO, not mix the 2.
