I might look into that next year then, thanks!
That's what I've done with the note 8

Quoted wrong person but I've joined the Samsung upgrade program so I can have the new note each year and chop the old one in after 12 months

Anyone having issues with wireless charging? I decided to try the fast wireless charger yesterday that I got from Samsung with my pre-order and the phone would say "fast wireless charging" and the estimated time to complete, but the problem is, it wasn't charging at all. The phone was actually losing juice over time. So at work today, I'm trying my choetech wireless charger that worked great with my S8 but my Note 8 won't even recognize it... at all... i'd hate to have to do a factory reset but will do that this afternoon. So frustrating. Otherwise, everything about this phone is great! But I hope I don't have to go through the hassle of exchanging via Samsung.com

Just got my Note8. Wireless charging is working great! (not using a fast charger).

Is Samsung pay suppose to work with any contactless machine? Thought I read that while Apple Pay needs to say Apple Pay logo
It should be any contactless reader. Apple pay works usually works anywhere that accepts contactless. I've never seen it not work even if the Apple pay logo is not there. I even used it in a corner shop today. No mention of Apple pay but it just worked.

I don't think the problem with Samsung pay is if the place accepted it or not. You are supposed to swipe up, verify with your pin/fingerprint or iris and then you get to the next screen where you hold it over the reader to make the payment. I'm not able to verify with the pin/fingerprint because nothing happens when I try. The screen just stays the same.

Apple Pay will not work unless the machine has the >>> symbols for NFC communications on it. Samsung will work as long as the machine has a CC reader on it. So there are many retailers that don’t support the NFC yet which is one of the reasons I enjoy Samsung Pay over Apple Pay.

We don't have magnetic strip readers in the UK anymore. So android pay, Apple pay and Samsung pay all work only on readers that accept contactless payments (NFC). Over here they all work in the same places as they all rely on NFC.

Interesting

Guessing it all works the same on the gear watch too?

Check to see if the charge keeps pausing. Which it will actually say "Charging is paused" at the bottom of the display. If that's the issue, then it could be the wireless charger itself. I had to exchange a Samsung fast charger for exactly what I explained. Once I got my exchange charger, everything was working fine.

Yeah, Samsung Pay has an advantage up until retailers get rid of magnetic strip readers. But until then, it sure is fun using your phone on a machine in which the cashier tells you "We don't accept that here"...and then BEEP..."Oh, wow, how did you do that?"

I just said that. Lol

Thankfully, with Barclays they have introduced their own version of contactless mobile payments.
All works from the NFC chip so you just need a phone with one.
And it works flawlessly. I kicked off on Twitter as they were not supporting Android Pay and they replied about working on their own version. I was like "alright, good luck haha". Turns out it's brilliant. So I tweeted back when it got rolled out to tell them I loved it. :D

It's one of the things that bothered me when going from Apple to Android, as Apple pay is great, but if anything this is quicker and easier.

thanks for the update. I just factory reset the phone and my 3rd party wireless charger (from Choetech) will be recognized by the phone but it loses charge on the stand. I'll test with my Samsung one later at home.

I'll check but I never saw that message. I went back and forth to the phone a lot to check on it. but the fact it won't charge on 2 wireless chargers makes me think it's the phone.

Ugh. Sounds like you have a lemon. Sorry, friend.

Go to the Fast Wireless Charging settings under accessories, then disable it and enable it again.

Otherwise, it might be factory reset time. :(

As far as I know, Apple Pay works with any standard NFC terminal unless they’ve specifically disabled it. Some people in Finland have cards from currently supported countries and they’ve been using Apple Pay with the terminals here, and I’d be really surprised to find the Apple Pay logo in any of them. However, Samsung Pay has an additio al benefit of emulating the magnetic stripe, so it’ll work also with non-NFC terminals. However, that’s less of a benefit over here as non-NFC terminals are becoming increasingly rare.

yep, looks that way. dangit. This is a time where I wish Samsung had physical stores like Apple. I'd have my replacement today if it was an Apple device. Now I have to wait on hold for an hour just to talk to someone at Samsung and let them figure out how to exchange the device, which will take several business days just to figure out.

Where's that setting at again? I had found it before my factory reset but now I don't see the option? only fast wired charging. And the factory reset didn't help :( still doesn't charge wirelessly on either of my chargers. Says its charging but doesn't do anything but lose battery

weird. I don't have an accessories option under advanced features. Are you on a carrier model or unlocked? mine is the unlocked model from samsung.com

i even searched the settings page and didn't find anything with accessories or wireless charging. only fast wired charging. It's weird because the setting was there before I factory reset the phone.

I just tell them I'm going to pay contactless and then use my Apple watch. Saves them turning around saying we don't accept Apple pay here!!

Got mine today :D and absolutely loving it! It is the Note4 replacement i was hoping the Note7 would be but never got the chance to be. I can say the S7 Edge did a great job of holding me over but I am so glad to be back on a Note :D
