Can't say I had many issues with false touches on either of my edge devices.
I guess we all hold them differently, the cases I use tend to be have about 3-4mm on the sides so that might make a difference.
With the S7 edge it was mainly when I flipped to landscape but not enough to be annoying.
I can't remember if my Note 7 did it.

Not a single one with my Note 8 but it has been just under a week.

I can understand how it would annoy some people though.

Activating the edge toggle is very different from false touches. You can adjust the edge panel position to stop that from happening. The S8 and Note 8 both have fantastic palm rejection, False touches are a thing of the past. Yet Zipster, who i doubt has even used a Samsung phone has started with false touches being a downside to small bezel phones, its laughable.
You can even switch off the edge panel off entirely if it’s too irritating.
[doublepost=1506572795][/doublepost]The best thing Samsung did with this generation of phones is to remove the capacitive buttons. I was forever accidentally pressing them.

I love the virtual software keys. Huge props to them, especially since you can customize the location and change the colors up even though the colors aren't a true RGB matrix anymore.

Yeah that is very true. I would at times as I'm gripping phone from the bottom accidentally hit the back button with the lower inner part of my thumb / palm and likewise whilst gripping in landscape it was a pita trying to avoid the capacitive buttons. Nothing worse watching a video and you wiggle grip or swap hands and accidentally press recent or back.

The other good thing Samsung has incorporated software wise is allowing you to make all apps immersive mode and hide the on screen navigation buttons. I wish all other OEMs (Google included) would allow that with an easy toggle to go full screen.

What's the best and easiest way to transfer your iTunes music collection to your note 8

Also is sound quality on the note 8 any good? I still haven't opened mine just incase I decide I want to change to the iPhone 8 plus

iSyncr that was recommended to me for Android. It syncs all your iTunes playlists. It does 100 for free and the full version is £8.99.

The sound is better on the 7+ through the speakers but better and louder on the Note 8 through headphones.

Again close match but note 8 wins the master of speed comparisons on YouTube.
Love it

The part I actually like with these tests is the Multitasking. To me all these phones are about the same in actually using the app's, but what matters is if the app's stay in memory.

I must say I am having a good giggle at the iFan excuses. Watch them move the yardstick again that is what they do the very best every single time they are beaten at their game.

And when similar results show for the iPhone X, fanboys are going to use "first gen" as the excuse. :p

Keeping with the “fanboy” nonsense that has pervaded the thread, what will you guys do when Apple tunes iOS 11 so that it leaves the competition in the dust? As predicted iOS 11 point releases will be coming fast and furious for the next few weeks.:apple:

Sorry got confused  as to which thread it is; they are all loooking the same these days.

My honest opinion is I am willing to bet Apple won’t notice it. To them it runs the benchmarks fine. So its good. It may never happen. Things like this in the past with Apple haven’t been fixed before. “Holding it wrong”. “Using it wrong” and so on.

Nothing. We are also getting updates, lol.

The 1st thing I had to do after booting up my Note8 was do a FW update, and then this weekbthe TouchWiz UI got an update.

If your excuse is that iOS 11 needs work, then clearly Apple have lost their way, Steve Jobs wouldn't have allowed an poorly optimised OS go up on to their servers to consumers.

We can all just go on claiming that we must wait for this and that update then.

We have the Security Patch Updates coming, the TouchWiz Updates and then the Oreo update, guess we have the excuse to.

LOL!

If they aren't moving the yardsticks they are making excuses.

Things are getting very interesting, every year Android keeps getting so much better, and it's now iOS and iPhone playing catch up, and with that we are seeing little stumbles by Apple that their apologists have to excuse.

3years ago we would be hearing them admitting to iOS needing more work, look at them now.

When are we even seeing that iPhone X with its poor yields on the FaceID hardware!? I feel like things are really hitting the fan now at Cupertino. No they aren't on their way down, but their response to Android competition has them making some rather poor decisions.

I would change my ringtone to something celebratory from my music library and play it, but then I would have to use iTunes for that.

So when these speed tests go one way and in fairness over last number of years usually iOS they are declared as flawed and not indicative of real world scenarios, however now they show an android device winning, they are accurate ?

When you say iOS users move the yardstick do you mean like what has literally just happened as you both typed snipes ?

Either we accept these speed tests by their very nature are flawed and not true indicators and we forget them (all of them), or if you are going to champion them when the result goes your preferred way, that you accept and not decry them when they don't go your preferred way.

The forum here does breed a lot of hypocrisy at times. And a slap on the hands the pair of you for reverting to behaviour you just tease others of doing ... 10 minutes on the naughty chair the pair of you

It's all so dumb. I cannot imagine giving a **** about someone else liking or disliking a phone. What kind of life are you living when you've turned technology into a sports team that you root for?

People use the stuff that works for them in the ways they want it to work for them. That's all there is to any of this.

It's always amusing how iPhone threads in the iPhone forum mostly stick to talking about the iPhone, whereas Android threads in the Android forum mostly stick to talking about the iPhone.

Clam down ... I personally never said these speed tests were not flawed. I've previously posted these tests are flawed no matter who wins. I'm just stating that that fanboys will always have an excuse. Geeesh!!!

No by teasing and the rhetoric you used was essentially doing exactly what you accuse them of doing.

If we want grown up conversations on the forum then it's up to each of us to set a standard, not just fall at first hurdle and incite bad posting behaviour.

Not really....I participate in the iphone threads too. Just look at how many mention other phones. There are a LOT of them.
Then any discussion about features always brings up other phones. Such as wireless charging...those threads always mention other phones and which chargers people recommend.

I hate these speed tests, mainly because they generally don't take into account a variety of things, but I am loving that the Note8 is handing the iFans and their Benchmark some heavy Humble Pie through these speed tests, look at them running around here making excuses: "wait until update X", and my favourite: "iOS11 is not optimised" etc etc etc...

What I have noticed is that these tests don't take into account how each app& game is optimised, some of them are very iOS biased while others seem to run better on Android, and even then, when it comes to Note8 you get Snapdragon and Exynos, in USA you get the former and in most other parts of the world you get the latter (Exynos).

Typically Exynos is always faster, smoother and more battery efficient, so when I see the inferior Snapdragon Note8 absolutely trounce a iPhone 8 Plus I do get amused and can't help but laugh at how this has had our regular iFans jumping around in the threads when they clearly don't even care for Androids.

I personally think Apple will try it's hardest to bring the FPS to the new iPhone design.
