I must say I am truly enjoying being back on a Note, my S7 Edge and iPad Air 2 were great, but it's great to have the SPen back and have 1 device that can do the job of both an iPad Pro and and a Galaxy S, in a pocketable size but with a large enough screen.

Tomorrow isy final day at my current job and next Monday I start at my new one, and my Note8 came in very handy yesterday when signing all the paperwork digitally, all I needed was my SPen, Adobe Fill&Sign and Excel on my Note and I was able to do everything with the finest precision and efficiency, I am back to being as productive as I was withy Note4

The 6GB RAM on this beast really has been a life saver as well, keeping all of the documents open while I spoke to the HR manager of my new job as well as Medical Aid over the phone.

If the Note series ever dies out, it will be a very sad day, as it truly represents what I have wanted in a smartphone: Communication, Productivity and Multimedia. Most smartphones for me doiss that productivity part especially when dealing with large amounts of documents.

Same here. I've used my note more for productivity and signing stuff like that than any phone. Even my iPad pro is a pain to pull the pencil. Stick it the charger to activate it and start using it. I've never used my iPhone like this as it wasn't as easy to do so.

The fact that you're singling me out is amazing. Teasing and rhetoric..... Really ????
[doublepost=1506616788][/doublepost]

I personally think Apple will try it's hardest to bring the FPS to the new iPhone design.
I'm not singling you out, I am talking about your posts yes, but also behaviour generally and because it was yours and Tspez who I also quoted when I replied who were posting the inciting posts, regarding the video posted.

This is not a witch hunt (no one here on the forum is so special that they warrant one) the reason I am talking to you is because how else am I supposed to communicate or reply to posts.

Do I not hit reply and just talk in a vague vacuum thereby taking any of the context away from the post and leaving it moribund.

Will that change anything ?

Lol, I don't take these things seriously

A few people post the iPhone 8 Plus losing multiple times to a Note8 and we have the iFans in the forum pulling all the stops to defend their precious iPhone.

I find it pretty hilarious, so I'm poking.

Honestly at the end of the day I use iOS and Android daily, and to this point whether the Galaxy Note won or not, I'd still buy it as iOS is still far too limited for my usage, in actual fact after owning the Note 4 and going to the S7 Edge last year I discovered that even a standard high end Android is not enough for me, but rather a high end Phablet with a Stylus is more suited to, Apple don't even make one of those

That's why my uncle's law firm is going to the Note8 as it eliminates them from having to assign a phone and tablet to everyone.

It makes complete sense :D

In fact have you seen the PDAs some delivery companies use to let you sign for a delivery? Some of them are awful, I think some of them still use Resistive Displays, the Note8 gives a much better experience.

My posts and my behaviour generally? So what's my general behavior? You accused me of being a hypocrite, can you provide a source for that?

Oh for Pete's sake. Again not your behaviour but the general behaviour of forum posters on the forum. Jesus man would you get down from the bleeding cross you have erected yourself. Everybody else seemed to understand what I had posted and the context. If you don't like having your post quoted for posting silly inciting stuff in a similar manner to those that you were thusly teasing in said post, then don't do it. The teasing posts were hypocritical because you were doing the very same thing that you were saying iPhone users would do. Simple.

I know what you're talking about and my FedEx driver always has a problem with his. They do look like resistive displays instead of capacitive.

With the endless speed arguments and over the top excuses iPhone fanboys post in these threads. You damn right I'm going to point it out, in reference to that youtube video. It's not being hypocritical, nor teasing. It's a light assumption based on my first sentence. Which I will put my money on that I'm right.

You were not pointing anything out because no one had responded to the video posted here in that way, instead you were inciting them to do so and in the very same manner that you are thusly accusing them of engaging in. Do you not see that ?

You rise above the nonsense, discuss or correct it if it's wrong but not sink to the same level and engage in same facile manner ...

If we want to see those type of posters being edged out of the sub fora, engaging or inciting that behaviour doesn't accomplish that.

Nope, I was responding to Tsepz's comment, and poking fun at the general endless "iPhone is faster" tone of comparison. God forbid I take a little jab at that, and it's considered trolling.

That's why I quoted you both ... I wasn't singling you out. I want what many of us want on here, less of the dreg posts and trolls, but we have to be above it otherwise it will never happen. And yes I fall foul at times when troll posters push my buttons with their nonsense, so I am not immune. But if we regulars can keep a check on each of us, then the forum will be a much better place to visit and read without those endless threads where a couple of posters sling mud like in a kids playground. We both want that I assume.

Forget about the singling me out statement. I didn't mean it like that.
No worries I hope you can see my point. We both want a good fora and not an awful **** hole like some reddit wastleand. So please do call out those posters, but try not to preempt them and thereby engage in their behaviour and encourage them to post the detritus they do.

Got my black note 8 and Alcantara Cover today. It looks and feels so awesome and no app refresh for hours

Took many pictures with live photos from my kids, finally I need no iPhone for this anymore.

And the screen...I am speechless...

I come to this topic to read about Note 8, not some smartphone/OS wars...

So I will try to get this topic back on track.
I have said many times, I am not a Samsung fan at all. I use a lot of phones. I use an iPhone all the time, and I use Android phones all the time. But... I love stock Android, or near stock at least. Last couple of years, I'm on OnePlus phones. And I simply love them. No big customizations, but those small make a lot of sense. OxygenOS is great.

After iPhone 8/x announcement, I have already decided I'm gonna skip on iPhone this year. My iPhone 7 will do just fine. And I had to renew my contract, so I went with Note 8 which I got for really cheap. I figured, if I don't like it, I can sell it pretty fast and for some nice cash to purchase something else.

Well, a week later, and this phone is staying. Despite my not so great opinion on samsung phones (software...), I always loved Note series. S Pen being the main reason.

And here are a couple of pointers about Note 8. Please, keep in mind that this is my subjective opinion. I'm not even trying to be objective, since I consider that being objective is impossible. I will compare Note 8 to my OnePlus 5 most of the time.

First, the screen... Well, as always, screen is excellent. I even don't mind the silly ratio. I can use the phone with one hand without a problem.

Build quality is excellent as well. Phone really feels premium in the hand. Quite slippery as well, but that's the norm these days.

Camera is excellent. I'm not a photo guy, I really don't even care about camera. But this one seems great to me. Point 'n' shoot = fast, reliable, great photos. Even for a complete newb like myself.

Battery is ok. I can manage to get a day of use, and about 4h 30min SoT. With OP5 (same apps, same usage) I get 6h+ SoT. But if it can manage a day, it's ok. That is all I ask.

Speed wise... Well, Samsung isn't know for speed. To say it mildly. But Note 8 is a great phone there as well. Is it as speedy as OP5? Nope. But there aren't anymore of those annoying frame drops, lag, etc. And memory management isn't as aggressive as before. This phone actually keeps apps in memory. Samsung finally figured out what RAM is for? Great for them, even better for us :D

I will keep this phone. OP5 goes to my wife. But only because of S Pen. I hate edge screen and false touches I get all the time. Fingerprint sensor is basically useless (to me), and other security features I didn't even try. So I'm using this phone completely unlocked.

But samsung finally managed to get their software on track. They always had great functionality, but their phones felt so slow to me, at least when compared to likes of OP, Nexus/Pixel, etc.

I bought unlocked Note 8, and still there is a lot of bloatware that I don't want, and don't use (facebook, ms office, etc.). I really hate that.

But still, with all that said... I love this phone. So far at least. And I'm giving it a shot. If I don't like it, my OP5 is coming back into my hands, and wife will be thrilled to get Note 8.

What case did you get for yours. I have the Spigen Tough Armor and it keeps my phone slim and protects it from drops(dropped it a few times no damage whatsoever.) and it also eliminated my false edge activations.

As stupid as speed tests are:

It's disappointing that when the Note 8 wins, the obvious response is that "oh apple must be working on a fix, we'll check back later". I remember watching EverythingApplePro also say something along those lines as well (though in his speedtest, the Note 8 lost).

Anyway, props to Samsung for getting their memory management somewhat under control (even though it was just shoving more RAM into the phone). And to be fair to Apple, iOS 11 could have been better. I've been noticing a slight lag on my 12.9 iPad Pro II with iOS 11.

None so far. I really hate using cases. But I will have to get one because of false touches. Planing on getting something slim :)
