Samsung snuck out clear photos of the Gear S2, with the full reveal not until early September.

The videos of the interface look good, but the exterior design looks nice enough to be competitive.

Very modern. I like what I saw in the teaser. I'm betting they make this compatible with any android phone. They have their IoT goal to fulfill.

Hmm, one side of me says Meh plasticky but kind of sleek. The other side says kind of sleek, but plasticky, I can't decide. But I think Samsung decided for me if they make it only work with Samsung phones and put Tizen on it, idiots. But I'll withhold judgment until we know more about it.

Samssung has already stated this will be a Tizen only watch and work with just the latest Samsung smartphones.

No Android Wear = No sale. And Samsung wonders why their mobile division has been losing money hand over fist for 6 straight quarters. Hint: No one wants your Tizen and Touchwiz crap.

Um tizen is Samsung's in-house optimised os made specifically for there hardware.tizen wear almost doubles androids power life on smart watches.

Android is holding Samsung back.if they could make a deal to keep the play store since tizen can run Android apps natively I would by it the second it goes on sale.I can't tell you how many background Android services I have manually removed and disabled on my rooted gs6 to get better battery life out if it

Besides not being compatible to all Android phones, Tizen is pretty damn good. I know people that had issues on their 360 and Gear Live smartwatches. I never had one issue with my Gear 2 Neo. And battery life on Tizen Gear watches are amazing.

I'm pretty sure any Tizen watch Samsung puts out will be solid. As far as Touchwiz, that depending on the model of phone.

My Gear S had about the same or worse battery life that my moto 360 had, I wasn't impressed in the least. Tizen may not be a terrible option today, but as the android wear app market grows Tizen will become more and more of a poor option. Go look at the tizen market, a couple of years out and it's still pitiful and has about all the same apps as when it first opened. Great example, tizen watchfaces have almost no ability to be customized. After using Faced and Watchmaker on android wear, which are amazing, I couldn't stomach the extremely few options for customization tizen has.

Tizen is a long term mistake. Jeez with a $900 phone that Chinese manufacturers can make for a 3rd of the price you would think Samsung wouldn't be cheap about licensing fees.

Given the specs on the Gear S, that's actually a good thing. The 360 and Gear Neo is BT only. Gear S has to deal with Network, wifi and gps. And then you have the best smartwatch screen.

Is this another plastic watch?

Looks like it from pics. If so another massive fail from Samsung. I thought they would have learnt by now.

a better place
I think it looks interesting but the fact it's limited to Samsung devices for compatibility is a bit of a pain - unless of course Samsung open up the API's and release a Gear app for other Android devices.

I prefer a rounded face than the square face of Apple watch and previous Gear & Gear S device.

moto 360 has WiFi, but I agree that cellular takes up a decent amount of power. Still, for how much chunkier the Gear S was I would have expected better battery life, although I'm too lazy to look up their respective battery sizes to compare.

Gear 2 owner and happy with tizen as it allows phone calls unlike Android.
First thing I notice on new gear is NO buttons???

It's running Tizen.

I have a Gear S watch that I stopped wearing just three months after buying it because of the lack of apps and I think the watch is just plain boring. If there were the same quality of apps that are available for the Apple Watch, I'm sure my feelings about the watch would be different.

Samasung support for the watch all but dried up over the past several months. They haven't added anything new to the OS and that is the biggest problem with Samsung once you buy one of their watches.

I do own the T-Mobile version. I was excited when I found out I could leave my phone at home and still get it's notifications and calls and texts on the watch but for me, most of that on such a small screen is pointless.

I believe it's aluminum. But it's got to be huge. That's the only way circular works.

I think it's the nicest looking smartwatch that I have seen yet imo. If it is not HUGE on the wrist (have tiny wrists) and is waterproof I would definitely consider getting it. iWatch is too damn expensive and I don't use an iPhone.

According to the rumors, you navigate by sliding your finger around the bezel.

I think it still is too big (particularly based on the photo of the watch on the back of the woman's hand). I also think the design of the bezel may limit the band options that will work well with the watch.

A little bland like the Huawei watch but I'll hold judgement until it's released. Just hoping it retains stand-alone capability and has good battery life.

I applaud Samsung for at least implementing a UI that takes advantage of, or at least fits on a round watch (last pic above is great example). I always found the one size fits all aspect of Android Wear less than ideal on watches like the Moto 360 and LG Watch R and Urbane--too much horizontal and vertical elements better suited to a square interface. I also like the clean, simple design.

That being said, smartwatches are already a tough sell and limiting it to only recent Samsung smartphones is a recipe for lackluster sales. Apple barely gets away with it because of their crazy loyal customers and they sell more iPhones than Samsung does of it's flagship level devices.

I thought the actual bezel itself moved but either way it makes for a nice clean look. On another note I really hope they implement an "always on option". It drives me crazy when I go to raise my arm and look at my watch and it's a black screen, especially now that there's no button.

Battery life is a concern for me.

Right now I am using a Samsung Gear Fit, and I get 4-5 days of use on a single charge, or 3 days if I hit the gym a lot and make use of the heart monitor.

Charging a watch nightly just seems like a pain in the ass

Not for the 360. Wireless Qi charging FTW. Not to mention, the watch becomes a nice table side clock while it charges at night.
