Well, I went ahead with the purchase. S25 Ultra Titanium Black, and I wanted more storage space so I went up to 512 GB. Hopefully I don't have to do this again for a while.
Congrats and welcome to team TiBlack

I pre-ordered the same model and it has been great. So far, only using 28% of the storage (145 of the 512GB).

How is everybody finding the one ui 8 beta? I have pulled the trigger yet but itching to do so, just not sure on stability and app compatibility

Have been on the one ui 8 beta since day 1 as my daily driver, no issues whatsoever. As stated above, Home Up doesn't work but that should be updated sometime soon.

Got the phone today. I was surprised they went back to the circular edges. I was kind of hoping it would fit the same case as the S 24 Ultra but while it does, it's a tight fit and isn't snug with the buttons so I had to buy a new case. I'm glad they made it a little smoother though. The S 24 Ultra felt kind of sharp at the edges because of the rectangular design.

Other than that, it's basically the same phone as the 24. Maybe one of these days I will actually learn it's AI capabilities.

I think my Android journey now comes to an end.
I had the S25U and Pixel 9 Pro XL for the last few weeks. I used both with the Galaxy Ultra Watch and even tried the Pixel Watch. The phones are definitely more snappy than an iPhone. Multitasking is unbeatable, so is AI. BUT I can't part with my Apple Watch. The Galaxy Watch faces are all trying hard to like a "real" watch, especially the ones out of the Playstore. The Pixel Watch ones are ok, but imo the Apple Watch ones are better. The health tracking isn't as accurate as on the AW.

I never thought, that the AW is the thing that would hold me back switching. I had alternatives for airdrop, photos, notes, everything. Multipoint headphones which work like just airpods etc. But in the end, it's the watch.

Sold my 16PM and AWU2 to one buyer on eBay UK; he's collecting them tomorrow which is good

Just nicked my pals S25U whilst he's 'active service' in Germany and not back for another month (popped to his last night to sort his garden as it looked like a jungle) 😂 So will get that transferred across today (fitting a screen protector and case to it as well for peace of mind; just ordered standard ESR ones off Amazon UK; £20 for both, not bad)

Will get some pics up later on

What about trying a platform-agnostic watch meant solely for fitness? Garmin is definitely less “smart” for other stuff, but it prioritizes tracking and battery life over all else.

In my final iOS days I switched from apple watch to Garmin, and didn't look back. Then again I was looking for a less smart watch that did good health tracking.

See I find that my AWU2 isn't as accurate when it comes to steps, distance walked, time standing etc as my previous GWUs, that's why I'm going back to the Fold 7 and blue GWU next week (S25U in the meantime)

My take on the GWU is that it's more watch than the AWU2 - it's thickness and roundness really suit it and for me, it's the one I prefer

Don't get me wrong I'll miss my AWU2 more than my iPhone; but can't have one without the other etc

Agreed 100%! I always felt that the AW wasn't counting all of my steps.

Has anyone had any notifications missing from the lockscreen on their s25 (or similar samsung)? Specifically Whatsapp, it appears on my garmin watch, and in the slider when I have unlocked the phone, but not on the actual lockscreen, so tapping the display on doesn't show whatsapp notifications. I have tried reinstalling, and the silent notification thing on Reddit. It seems to be whatsapp only

I love my AWU2 as well. I love that there are endless watch faces and bands for it. But to be honest that was until I got the GWU. Battery life is better. Not as many watch faces or accessories. But it does count my steps more accurately. I like the rounded shape better than the square shape of my AW2U.

Agree. My Samsung Watch Ultra is closer to my Garmin than my AWU2. I love my AWU2 though. Wish I could take the best of it and the Samsung and create the perfect watch.

I definitely can see that one prefers the galaxy watch! But are you sure, that it is more accurate? Basically, every "scientific" test says the opposite.

Not as many watch faces
There are a lot more watch faces than on the AW if you look at the Playstore! :D

I don't know what is most accurate, but my thought is: accuracy only matters if you are being competitive with your metrics. For personal use, as long as it is consistently inaccurate, it is still showing you your trends, which is what you are trying to improve.

oh yeah it is more accurate......purely my own un scientific evidence. But I can use both watches and get a more accurate step count from the GWU than the AWU2. I have a Garmin Fenix as well and the GWU and Garmin both are really close in step counts. Usually within a couple steps of eachother. But the AWU2 is not close.

I hate the feeling that wearing a watch forces you to be stuck in an ecosystem. I could have easily went back to Apple (I didn't) but the Galaxy Watch still works and I don't want to get rid of it. At least when I got the S25 Ultra, I didn't have to spend even more money just to get a watch. That would have been silly.

Curious to know: what were your alternatives to AirDrop and photos?

For the first, I'm now using Blip, which is awesome.

I have the original AWU and GWU along with OnePlus Watch 3 and I can’t say the AWU is more accurate. I do love my AWU but my Android watches hang with the best of it. TBH I could go with no watch and be okay haha I do love my Whoop though

Bluddy'ell - forgot how good a phone the S25U is 😏 Might make my pal a cheeky offer and see if I can tempt him with a cash (well, bank transfer) 😂 He's always after parts for his E39 M5!

Is it normal for the phone to get really hot at first? It has been warm here but the phone does seem to heat up pretty quick. It also impacted Android Auto as it said media wasnt available.

Other than that this phone is not that different from the S24. I just wish Apple Music wasn't so screwed up right now. It's annoying and considering my subscription ends in September maybe I need to switch.

What's up with Apple Music? Works as it should on mine

But agree; the phones not that different over the S24U - the usual incremental yearly polish really; just like Apple does

Still a bloody good phone though

They screwed up the folders for playlists. I had everything organized. Then they updated the app and now playlists are in folders and also listed as out of the folders too. Even subfolders are just listed in the playlist category now. When I have a lot of playlists, the list is pretty long.

Like you I've loads of playlists and mine are all as they should be on Android and iOS (as well as on my MBA etc)

Have you tried to reorganise it at all?
