No the Light Performance profile.
I never understood the point of light performance modes in phones.

Let's make your phone perform like a chipset from 2 or 3 years ago to save battery life. Kind of negates the point of having a fast or flagship level phone at that point.

I shouldn't have to compromise everyday performance just to get adequate battery life. Governers on most modern phones and AI should be enough to regulate performance and battery life and if it isn't then Samsung is doing something wrong.
Most people now expect at least a full day of battery life and most want 2 day battery life and would probably want more.

Most larger flagship phones with one exception have large enough batteries to deliver most people's expectations without having to tinker with performance settings. In my opinion if I have to adjust the performance settings then something is wrong.

There are cases, generally in laptops/desktops where more refined control for specific use cases is required. Smartphones generally don't need such fine tuning. I can see using a battery saver governer in times of emergency when you don't have much battery left and won't be able to recharge or other such situations. Otherwise standard performance or high performance if I could choose it. But again if I need a high performance mode it is sort of the same as needing a low performance mode.

It is hard to believe that with a s25 ultra and a 5000mah cell you aren't getting good battery life with a more powerful and more efficient chip than previous generation.

Usually when odd battery drain occurs it is either a bad app or a bad update/corrupted installation. It can also be the cache. Most of the time and simple back up and reset will fix unless the bad app is reinstalled or another corruption occurs. Play store updates may also slightly affect battery.

After doing more research, it sounds like the a light profile isn't hampering the user experience at all. I sure haven't noticed it today. And I don't game or anything like that.

I get it. If it works for you I am certainly not criticizing you.

It is just my personal take. I tried using a battery saver setting and I could tell a difference. I don't game on my phone either.

I just don't like it on principle. I feel like I am getting cheated if I need it. I may as well buy an s23 ultra. Same battery size and slower processor. Same as s25 on light performance?

I know there is a lot more to a phone but in my opinion a newer phone should both be faster and more efficient. Specially after 2 gens. If I have to use a light performance setting to get the most of my phone then I feel something is wrong. I feel light performance should be used only for extreme cases not everyday use.

If I have a flagship phone and I have battery anxiety I am getting a different phone. Actually, one of the reasons I stopped using my Pixel 8 Pro was due to battery life. My s24 ultra has all day battery life even if pushed really hard while in most cases I can get a day and a half easy and 2 days of medium to light use. I consider a day 8 hours of screen on time. Maybe 6 to 8. I generally don't have any issues even on cellular. Cellular does kill the battery much faster. So instead of day and half to 2 days I will get only one.

Even with heavy use on cellular it would be hard to get less than 6 hours of sot. I can't imagine how the s25 ultra would be worse???

Yeah it doesn't hinder performance or the user experience at all.
It is similar to new car technology that will limite engine cylinders to increase fuel economy when at highway cruising speeds.
The S25U is like a mini laptop in your hands. You don't need all the power all the time. With machine learning and AI some things can be prioritied over others. Some unused or rarely used applications are out into sleep to save energy.

My Dodge Ram truck has a hemi engine. It has a lot of power. But when I am cruising at highway speeds, i don't need all that power so the buitin technology will disengage a cylinder to conserve fuel and save me money.
Never have I thought to myself man......"if it does that I might as well get a 6 cylinder instead."

I want all the power I can get but I also want to save energy, gas, battery life when it is appropriate.

Every time I see reference to a hemi I think of this commercial. 🤣 "You 'bout to find out" gets me every time.

Hah!

I did a lot of body and motor work on the old school 1 MPG Hemi beasts (Cuda, Dart, Road Runner, Satellite, Super Bee). Still liked GM 396 small block and 454 big block powered rides better

Phone is in less power hungry mode and works great.
I hear you most definitely

Going to need to reproduce this, but I accidentally cleared all notifications which caused me to lose live sports, but it came back a little bit later.

Mobile phone GPS tracking accuracy FAIL again after one ride that was similar to what has been recorded (using the same app) for more than a decade.

This is on Google as far as I am aware. Playstore and Maps too?

I've never owned a Garmin or other dedicated GPS tracking device and have no plans to do so.

Yep this is the Android way, it's all about options and running your device your way and prioritising your preferences :)

I cracked. Silver blue s25 ultra 512 gb just arrived.
I cracked again and got the Galaxy Watch ultra to go with it, as with a 10% off sale, 20% off code with my phone, £100 trade in for an old Garmin that I got in 2019 for £150, and £100 cashback, meant that £208, instead of £599 was too much of a deal to turn up, but I'm not convinced it offers much over my garmin for my use just yet.

I have found even basic Garmin watches to have much better accuracy over smartphones (Apple, Pixel, and Galaxy). If road cycling, a basic garmin edge will trump a phone IME

Accuracy is better on dedicated devices for sure. It's been good enough on phone app tracking (with Cyclemeter) since ~2010.

It has worked great ~99% of the time. Only within more recent years have there been occasional issues on both iPhone and Android platforms for me.

I am going to have a look through all the power saving settings again and see if one of them might be causing the latest issue.

Finally T-Mobile has online esim swapping working thru their app. I was seriously considering switching back to ATT and dealing with their subpar tower density here in DFW and I just tried to swap on the T Life app and it worked. Had my 2 weeks of iOS 26 fun but was ready to get back to my S25U.

Another update - I figured out the mystery.

Somehow the June One UI update changed the battery settings for the Cyclemeter app.

In the past, I had forced it in the main battery settings to be in the list: Battery -> Background Usage Limits -> Never Auto Sleeping Apps.

It no longer appeared there and it was not listed in the apps when I pressed the "+" to add it back.

I finally figured out that I needed to change the Cyclemeter app battery setting from "Unrestricted" to "Optimized" in order to be able to view and add it as a Never Auto Sleeping App under the main Battery menu.

Once the Cyclemeter app battery setting was set to Optimized, I was able to navigate back through the main Battery settings to locate and select the Cyclemeter app from the list of apps and force it to once again be a Never Auto Sleeping App.

This is apparently far more effective than relying upon the app battery "Unrestricted" battery setting!

Non-intuitive to say the least LOL

YES. FINALLY. It's about damn time. Just tried it on my end and it works. Also didn't like my time with iOS 26 beta but iOS 18.6 has been incredible. That, and damned NFL Retro Bowl '25 has brought me back for a bit to my iPhone 😂.

Ironic to get the June update on July 1st.

And there will likely be more updates distributed during July which will continue to be labeled as "June."

Sometimes the displayed date will even get stuck for a few months, while updates continue to roll in.

The displayed update date may be more unhelpful than helpful.
