Yeah, honestly the biggest thing now is just the pain of selling everything and then also trying to be fiscally responsible. And then the fear/ptsd of going back to Apple and repurchasing everything again.

I'm not happy with Apple, and I have way more issues with my iPhone than I used to have. Even my SongBook Pro app that I use when I'm stage has started to glitch out during shows.

But I think there's that emotional tie to a brand that I've been on for well over 10 years...and then the pain in the rear to sell. BUT, if Samsung has a good trade in value for the iPhone 15 PM compared to what I could sell it for, that could help. Best Buy is offering me $540 but not even sure I can trade my T-Mobile iPhone to Best Buy since they only allow you to check the options of Verizon and AT&T.

Not completely out on Google Pixel or a Foldable. Just having a tough time making a decision because Android has so many options. I also don't want to get in a cycle of having a Pixel for 6 months and then switching to Samsung...wash, rinse, repeat.
This is part of why I think you will end up regretting a change.

You are going to have issues on Android devices as well. None are perfect or even close to it. Would have been a good idea to maybe change your sim from your iPhone while you had your pixel and put the iPhone in a drawer and see if you are drawn back to the iPhone. I'm on day 3 now without using my iPhone and I'm not going to lie, it's pulling me back. 😄

Most likely. And probably a big part of that is familiarity and repetition on how we go about our mobile activity.

the iPhone was just a new camera button added (which everyone seems to hate).

as a keen photographer for oh far too many years, I cheered out loud when I read about the camera button on the new iphone. Even more when they talked about press half way to lock af/ae which is how I use my DSLRs.

Then I used it :/ everytime I try and use it I feel like I'm having to hold the phone in a weird position and trying to press the button results in camera shake.

Probably just a user error and I should've given it more time but yeah, I was dissappointed in it.

You were just holding it wrong. :D

It definitely seemed overhyped. Apple need to do something other than add new buttons. What you most looking forward too with the S25 line up?

Cameras, from what the rumours are saying they are only improving the ultrawide, by bumping it up to 50mp. But what about the main camera?
Maybe a complete redesign of the camera placement.

Reduce the bezels or eliminate them entirely.

Make improvements to the display, maybe more energy efficient.

more S-Pen features.

Improve face recognition, Face ID on iPhone is a lot better.

more colour options - the rumoured ones this year are very muted. What happened to the red, purple of old.

Also not removing the Bluetooth in the s-pen, that's a down grade if it also removes air gestures.
Apple slimmed their bezels right down for the 16PM and at least initially people were having touch issues (there’s a thread in the iPhone section)

I don’t know for sure but many suspected the touch settings were causing it due to new bezels and the registering of false touches

But didn't they reduce the bezels on the iPad, or at least the iPad Pro without any issues 🤔

The leaks continue.

I'm pretty sure the Now Bar will equal or possibly surpass live activities. Sure it's new and it'll need to be open to all developers to be a success but I don't think it'll be an issue going forward.

Developers will always be the problem on Android. Look at Lock Screen widgets on Samsung. Basically only Samsung apps.

Now bar could be great but developers I could see letting it down. It won’t ever be as good as live activities sadly but it has great potential

It will be tempting if they mention any kind of enhancement to capture moving objects like kids and dogs.

Yes, that's where the S24 Ultra falls down a bit, capturing kids, pets and moving objects is just better on the iPhone.

yeah it's hard to argue with that sadly. I do think though that it's proving such a useful thing on the iphone, perhaps it'll get put into stock android and then I guess uptake by 3rd party devs would be better.

Either way yep agreed, it's a bit of a hope rather than a definite at the moment. Still, I'm encouraged that they've noticed that it's a gap they need to fill and have implemented something.

Is that even after changing the setting to fire the shutter on click rather than release etc?

The Quick Tap Shutter setting? if so then yea it's still not as good as on the iPhone (at least the 15 Pro Max).

interesting... do you think it's a lag between you pressing the button and it taking the photo? or more than it chooses a slow shutter speed so you're getting blurry photos?

I would say that it's shutter lag, which has never been an issue on iPhone. At least I've never experienced it.

ok so picture being taken noticeably after you've hit the button?

That really did go away for me with the quick shutter but I admit I haven't done any proper testing for a good few months.

I take photos nearly every weekend, sometimes of nature and other times when I see my best friend and her 4 year old son. We also have a dog at home and I take lots of photos.
The issue I've found for me, is the iPhone seems to focus and take the picture faster than my S24 Ultra. I've had many a blurry photo from my S24 Ultra when taking pictures of the dog or my best friends son.

That being said, I do like taking my S24 Ultra out with me in nature too, I like taking further away photos with it. I tend to use both phones and take both out with me. BUT if I'm at home or going around to my best friends, I tend to just take my iPhone now a days because I know it's going to be better for taking pics of moving kids and so on.

What is this option you speak of? lol.
yes... it aint about shutter lag, it is about samsung processing, they prioritise longer exposure, probably because they need more light for ok photo? have no idea, sb who knows about photography more than me could elaborate...
