I think I just figured out the Apple pull that you guys were talking about in the morning yesterday. With Android you have so many options when it comes to tweaking your device the way you want. Yesterday I had a lot of fun with it and probably used about 5 different icon packs, wallpapers, configurations just to try things out and by the end of the day, I was tired by it and suddenly had the feeling that with the iPhone, I would just set my configuration and not think about it. Suddenly I felt the pull and even started looking for deals.

So I think I figured this whole thing out on a psychological level. As humans, the feeling of being locked in and having things chosen for you provides a feeling of comfort. Yes, the brand has something to do with it too of course but my overwhelming feeling was one of being overwhelmed by the end of the day and feeling like I just need to calm down. The ironic part of all of it is that you can do the same thing on Android. Set your configuration and stick with it.

So this is why I think so many people that switch struggle over the first couple of months. They're given choice and their brain is wired to resist it.
For me the Apple pull comes down to one thing and for some it's a negative but I just love it. That is Face ID!

Why the Pixel got rid of it ill never know and why Samsung hasn't implemented it yet God only knows.

That's interesting and I just be an odd duck. I don't miss FaceID at all. In fact, the only thing I really miss is that they handle live activities much better. Otherwise there's about 20 things that Samsung clearly does better for me.

I don’t think it’s that deep. It’s what @aggie99 mentioned, about the ecosystem. And the lock-in features (iMessage, AirDrop and FaceTime) that Apple provides the user. And once the user buys the iPhone… then get some AirPods, next up.. Apple Watch. The iPhone becomes the hub… the more you feed into that hub, it’s tough to break away from.

And most folks don’t like change, that’s where the comfort level comes in… it is what it is.

I think that's part of it too for sure.

I don't really care about iMessage, Airdrop, or FaceTime though. Or the ecosystem really. I think it's more of the comfortability of "this is how Apple does it" and now I have all of these options and it can be overwhelming some days.

I'm going to try to not change any configurations, icons, wallpapers, etc and just enjoy the way the device works for a few days.

Personally, I rather have the options than be without them. It’s one of those situations where… the added features are the selling points. If you don’t take advantage of them.. then what’s the purpose of choosing Android.

And to add… I don’t do too much configurations as of late, I’ve settled in on my setup. I’d change icons or wallpapers every week or so. But configurations are kept the same, for the most part.

Yeah, part of it might be the fact that I'm still getting used to what will be comfortable long term. I still haven't fully finalized my decision on what music service I want to go with either, which complicates things a little bit.

Yeah, I think you are still going through the phases… determining how you plan to go about things. I’ve been on the Android side for about 5 years now.

But I thought you settled on Apple Music due to the UI?

Yeah I was all set on it until I was in the car and wanted to voice command to play a playlist. Spotify and YT Music just handle that so much better. I do have the family plan for Apple music, just because my daughter still uses it religiously and I don't want to take it away from her. So I'm more looking for a secondary service and going back and forth between Spotify and YouTube Music.

Bingo 100% with you, my phone set up, stays pretty much set across my Android devices and I hardly ever tweak them other than wallpaper and icons, but I don’t change the icons daily. Better to have it and not needed than to need it and not have it. My iPhone is solid, but I pick up the android side 80% of the time I mean, how can I want to pick up the iPhone when I have a foldable with much more real estate and better multitasking? It’s not even close.

Whats ironic for me, considering what you said, is that I don't continuously keep customizeing an Android phone when I get one like some people do.

I set it up initially how I like it, and then I keep it like that and dont do any further customizations.

So, you never switch your wallpaper... ever?

Nine months I've been on Android now, S24 and S25. Still I got this today, phone was supposed to come today as well but courier has delay and it should come tomorrow. Knowing myself I'll be visiting the apple store this coming weekend to pick up a watch. I know I'm weak ;)

I commented on it earlier, but you should consider z2u for Spotify premium. It doesn't auto renew and you'd need to re-buy another account after 12 months + transfer all of your playlists, which is a pain. For $25 a year you can't go wrong. I used Google Pay for a one-time payment, from what I've read the site is legitimate. Keep Apple Music as well.

That's right! So I just buy it on that site and then does it transfer to my existing Spotify account?

I haven't done it, but you can transfer all of your content from your current account to the new account that is provided to you. From then on, you log into Spotify using the new account login. You can't transfer the email sign in address or change the password on the account that is given to you in order to login under your own email / credentials, if that makes sense. Sounds shady I know, but there's no billing or private info of yours on this new account and the seller I bought from is legit.

For me it's just I find one thing that I wish the Samsung would handle like the iPhone or the iPhone would handle like the Samsung and I end up missing the other. I *know* the S25U is the superior, more versatile device but there are things I like about the iPhone more as well. And iMessage, can't forget that factor lol. For me it is the services more than the device.

Apple went a long way with customization in iOS 18. I actually like it alot now to be honest but I still prefer the S25U overall as a device. Really loving everything about it.

Yep ecosystem and services 100 percent. When smartphones have essentially peaked in design and performance that is the key differentiator.

I haven't been following but now that is has been out, how are people feeling about the cameras compared to Pixel and iPhone?
Most versatile and capable of the most brilliant shots: S25U
Most consistent and reliable and still the best for video: 16 Pro Max
Best at quickly focusing on and capturing moving objects indoor without blur: Pixel
Best for astrophotography: Still the Pixel for me (bonus points for the 9 Pro Fold not needing a tripod)

To me it's almost like picking your best child. I don't necessarily have a favorite, they all have their good and not so good traits. They all perform very well in night mode which is key for me and Samsung has closed the gap as far having motion blur with kids and pets. Looking forward to taking the S25U to Maui next week for some pics.

That's interesting! I'll check it out. I will say that Spotify does seem the most compatible with Samsung as well as the Alexa devices in my house, and it works great with Gemini. I'll probably still have Apple Music installed since I have the family plan AND I heard Apple deletes your library if you cancel your Apple Music account after a certain amount of time. Seriously, F them for doing that too.
