funny thing is the S5 is only 0.1 inch smaller than the orginal Note 1 and that was when it was seen as HUGE.

Amazing how things change.

Same thought here. In the US, Verizon's got a "Buy A Galaxy S5, Get One Free" deal going on, which seems pretty crazy for a flagship phone launch. They must know they have more phones than customers, but I guess it's hard to say if that's because Samsung produced a ton of them, or if the demand is really that low.

I wouldn't read too much into the bogo offer, Verizon has the same offer for the HTC One also.

The S5 isn't all that impressive really. I feel like if somebody is in the market for a Samsung device their best option is the Note 3. If they want a more manageable size then the One M8, iPhone 5s, Moto X, and Nexus 5 are great options. The S series just doesn't impress now that the Note is quite manageable in size and offers MUCH more bang for your buck.

Personally prefer smaller size

Me too, but the pen is still missing.

I checked the original Note and it would fit in a front shirt pocket, barely exceeding the top edge, so it seemed fine. But I did not check it in a back pants pocket, so now I think it must be too big.

The S5 is quite smaller, but maybe not short enough (I have not checked), but if it were wider than it is it should be no problem.

Wow really? I had the original note. However I think the aspect ratio on the original note was different 16:10 which made it a lot wider.

Yeah I think the corners are very much different even the note 2 that my dad has is noticable in terms of the build to my note 3.

Fair enough but I'd rather have stock android than the pen

The note just doesn't appeal to me, doubt I'm the only one :)

If you don’t use it, one of the features that are great to have. Sometimes you don’t know when you will need it.

It really depends on what you are looking for. The camera on the M8 doesn't impress from what I've read and the camera on the Moto X is utter garbage (based on my own experience).

Think these bogo offers have more to do with T-Mobile stealing customers away and the fact that Verizon sucks and people are now seeing their slimy tactics.

(Verizon are the ones that bought a huge chunk of 700mhz spectrum in 2008 and assured the govt they wouldn't deny using them. Well, they have been and now they are trying to use the A and B blocks of the spectrum to blackmail the govt into allowing it to buy much more valuable higher freq spectrum bands currently owned by cable companies.
This is the same company that had been denying Nexus 7 LTE buyers Sim cards for 6 months, while they sold their own branded crappy knock off. This is the same company that denied users access to Google Wallet for over a year because they were developing a competing product. And this is the same company that is now preventing certain features on the S5 from working.)

Verizon is a very underhanded company and hopefully people don't fall for their BOGO tactics.

I had the M8 for a few days, and the camera certainly isn't impressive by any means. The uFocus bokeh effect (when it actually works) outputs some impressive shots though.

I have yet to hear a friend who is excited about the Galaxy S5... Plenty of friends are excited about the iPhone 6, whereas the majority of my friends who have GS4 or Note3 are already satisfied with their current phones.

You returned it? You seem to return a lot of phones no? (One Max...)

The One Max just wasn't manageable, like at all. And I don't actually "return" them. I just sell them on Swappa or eBay for current going price aha.

You are the second or third regular poster to return the M8 on this forum.

On a unrelated note, people love to jump at news stories about early sales. I'd be shocked if the S5 didn't sell well. Amazing screen. Weak competition.

I think the S5 might become the best selling phone Samsung has.....that is until the N4 is released in the fall......

Absolutely agree on the first part but there is no way the Note 4 will outsell it. Hasn't the Note 3 sold something like 10+ million? Those are great numbers compared to just about any other Android device...except the Galaxy S4. ;)

The Note's are excellent devices but don't have the widespread appeal due to their size and I don't see that changing.

The S5 will sell like hotcakes even though it's a total snorefest. And I returned the M8 because I knew I'd be wanting to switch to T-Mo for the $30 plan and the Verizon model isn't compatible with T-Mo's LTE bands, so I'm just going to wait for prices to come down a bit and snag one again on prepaid :)

I don't have the numbers, but i'm pretty sure that the Note 3 has sold a heck of a lot more than 10 million. Some blog site had #s, but i can't remember where?
