That is debatable. Apple has not had to remove hundreds of apps from it's App store due to malware.

Apps do not represent the OS!!

Just because apple verifies the apps doesn't mean the os is safer, the market place is yes. But thats it.

This is the exact reason I could never make the Note my main device.

Please do note (lol?) that this thread is to get things going for apple and the consumers toward an iphone which will be 4.7-5.3 inches. A true mobile computer as appose to a smart phone. It is the post-pc era correct??

Or did they mean that the post pc era is one where they strip down a OS and sell the necessaties as Apps :D lol

Apps are part and parcel of the OS. You want to separate them, ok by me, but it's still a security issue directly associated with Droid. You have to take more time with droid to verify what you are getting.

the OS is not the problem here...it is just as safe.

The USER is the problem that makes the OS vulnerable. Its the user that has to provide the safetiness...same goes with iOS and OSX. the user can install a virus.

That's complete BS. The fact that iOS only allows signed apps from the App Store makes it safer than Android.

the user can install a virus.

There are no viruses for Android or iOS or OS X, so I'm not sure what you are getting at here. And, obviously, iOS would be the best protected from a virus if one were to be released.

Let me start by stating that I am an Apple fanboy, owning many thousands of £'s of Apple products both in the office and on my home LAN. Hell I have even created a load of Apple tutorial and review vids!

I trialled the Samsung Galaxy Note today and I was simply blown away. Yes it is a large device - but it is so usable! The display is fantastic and I found the OS very intuitive and functional.

Im sorry Apple but this is what I have been longing for -I don't think I can wait for the next gen iPhone just in the hope that they ditch the tiny screen.

Be prepared to keep your receipt actually. If you are running on LTE, don't expect more than a few hours use before your battery dies. The screen is great but you need to set it to auto brightness if you don't want your battery dead in an hour. Having to dim the screen takes most the joy out if it of course. The size of it is still nice though but photos and text are not as sharp as it is on the iPhone.

There are tons of tutorials out there to tell people how to generate fake certificates to get an app installed on an iPhone using iTunes which is not even in the app store. That is without even a jailbreak. Just have to research....

That's how one of my friends tests his control projects apps on his iPhone. He is not willing to shell out $99 to Apple to load whatever he wants on his device that he owns, so he generates a fake certificate and the app installs without a hitch.

LOL!! you crack me up.

Did you get all this info form a slogan?

You can install any malware, virus etc. into ANY OS, if your the user or super user in some cases, it can be done. Regardless if its windows, iOS, OSX, Android, FreeBSD etc.

Worldwide Smartphone Sales to End Users:
http://www.androidauthority.com/android-market-share-q4-2011-gartner-53988/
http://www.alwaysonmessage.com/2011...3-of-2011-up-42-percent-from-q3-2010-gartner/
Android Market Share
Q3 2011: 52.5
Q4 2011: 50.9

iOS Market Share
Q3 2011: 15.0
Q4 2011: 23.8

Ah, you're talking about sales. One quarter of sales are not indicative of the total market share. I take your point, but I think its moot in the face of my larger point that Android is still more successful than iOS with its larger overall screen sizes.

I guess we'll see what happens when iPhone 5 is announced.

Maybe you should tell him to go to the XDA developer forums, and get some great info on how to properly use the phone and get the settings tweaked so he doesn't have the problems you did. Just because you couldn't figure it out, that doesn't mean that many others couldn't either. One would think that after owning the "7 Android" phones you claimed to own, that you would know how to use it correctly, and if Android sucked that bad, maybe you wouldn't have bought another one?

Talk about a fanboi!!! geez.

dude, I know every trick in the book to conserve battery life. Bottom line is rooting and running a custom ROM is the only way to truly get good battery life from an Android phone. I have been there and done that too many times though. The sad thing is that you even have to tweak all these settings and baby your phone just to get a days use out of it. You know what I have to do with my 4s to get great battery life? Nothing! I don't have to keep my wifi off, my screen brightness way down, close out apps after I use them or hack my phone to instal a custom interface just to get good battery life. It's a joke people have to do that.

All I have to say is apple better come out with multiple size for next one or else I will take my business to Sammy

I know they won't care but I cannot take this 3.5 inch screen anymore

There's no reason for them to insist on one size when clearly people want different size. Love iOS and their hardware but others are catching up

With ics and hardware that's just keep getting better, apple better watch out

By insisting they know everything about whats best for customer, they have become tentative.

When ford gave people car there was no competition

There are plenty now

Just in the early March, Samsung said to have sold 2 millions Galaxy Note in the first 4 months.

How is it possible for Samsung to sell other 3 millions units in March against 2 millions of the first 4 months???

http://www.bgr.com/2012/03/01/samsung-galaxy-note-sales-top-2-million-worldwide/
Easy... the phone wasn't released in the U.S until the end of Feb.
The Super Bowl ad obviously worked. ;)

Obviously the phone is a bigger hit in the U.S. than the EU where it was originally released.

Its funny to look at, but this phone was all over the place in a recent trip to Vegas. Lots of people didn't mind pulling it out in a bar or walking around talking into this monster phone.

I saw the screen at a local store, and yes it looks great.

lol what a biased rubbish narrow minded story.

It means more design copycatting instead of ingenuity and creation
Please oh wise one tell me where is the ingenuity and creation in phones today if they all resemble iphones!

What an idiot, the galaxy note is within itself genuine and creative! .... tss stupid article

All I can say is wow. I really like my note and it works perfectly for me. I know several people who have one and they like them too. How does one actually get information on how many of the five million sold are being returned?
I realize that this is probably a niche product and that many prefer a smaller device that is easier to use with one hand .
What gets me is all the clearly false issues being posted by those whew are just so blinded by the apple light .
The main reason I switched from my iPhone its the screen size and I didn't expect a huge screened phone to get the same battery life as my iPhone. That's why I carry a spare battery in my wallet.
Android I'd definitely a bit more complicated than ios but once you learn it, it can work beautifully and works beautifully with my other apple products.
