I have nothing against the Galaxy Note, but when I see this, you gotta know it looks funny. I mean, you "have" to know people are laughing at you, unless you shop at big and tall stores, I guess.

Image

Exactly what looks stupid or funny? Are you that worried about what you look like making a phone call?
I don't think there are too many Note owners like myself that wish that Apple made a larger screened phone. I for one would have never switched, but did just for the screen size, and after years of reading info on this forum about how much Android sucked, I discovered that my Note is an excellent phone. Go figure.
Sometimes opinions based on person experience carry a bit more weight.
Remember Blackberry? Things can and do change sometimes. pile is on top now, and may just stay there, but I can't imagine they wouldn't like to retain iPhone users that jump ship to another platform. Each potential iPhone user is a potential Mac or iPad sale too.

Where bunnies are welcome.
Sure,

I will use it today and post a screen shot. Why would I lie about that? Yesterday I started the day at 80% and had 47 phone calls. Had 4 what's app messages, 12 texts and 37 emails. Turned on at 4:00am and went to bed at 9:00pm with 6% left. I will let you do the math on that yourself. With 100% battery it pretty easy to make it through the day.

I don't understand why you think this response refutes what mbell wrote to you. The fact is you didn't "use" the phone for 16 hours. Actual "use" depends on what you're actually doing for that 16 hours. Try "using" it while doing some of the more battery draining apps in the phone (like browsing ,maps, etc.).

Haters gonna hate....... When Apple sells millions of iphone you never question shipped or sold but now you wanna get hurt when tables turn and samsung has success.............

Because Apple actually provides the numbers necessary to determine the difference between shipped and sold (channel inventory).

Apple are you listening?

This is were its at! ... these sizes need to become more efficient and they will be the future.

Changed topic to Sells since it has been confirmed.

New product in market...achieving good figures IMO

First of all with ALL of the competition, I don't expect Apple to remain the only guerrilla in the smart phone/tablet market place, but it certainly looks like it will be a major player for at least the near future, maybe longer. Their products have been dead on for meeting consumer needs and wants. Everyone else is and has been playing catch up. It really is amazing. While geeks enjoy the freedom of the messing with the Android, millions of others enjoy the convenience and safety of the Apple IOS environment. Seri is amazing. I've played with it on my wife's iPhone and the convenience of not having to type messages very nice. :) Does Android currently have this ability?

Regarding the Samsung Galaxie Note, I see a trade off between a tablet size and a phone. I'm hoping the next iPhone is bigger, but as big as a Samsung Galaxie, it might be a little too big to be sticking in your pocket. But if they thought this is what people want in their phones, I could see Apple going there easily at least something that is larger than the 4S.

Would you like me to post a screen shot? I would LOVE to see proof of you getting 16 hours of use with your Note. Thats maybe using it for TWO hours and it sitting on standby for the other 14  Post a screen shot of your battery usage...

I haven't charged my note in over two days. Over 3+ hours of screen time. Tons of texting, about a hour or do of phone time, YouTube videos etc. The Notes 2500 mAh is a hell of a beast. Some days I go three days without a charge.

Here's the graphs and all.

At 13 percent I'm at work and that'll get me through the entire work day. Toss it on the charger before I go back to bed. Then be good for another 2 to 3 days.

20% screen time on nearly 50 hours is closer to 10 hours of screen on usage. ;)
Looks like you have used close to 5 hours of talk time in there as well.
Impressive.

Isn't the percent the amount of power that item used? Not percent of time?

I can have my Xoom on all day as a wifi hotspot be down to 70 percent and use the tablet for an hour or too and screen is still at the top of the list.

Aka in 8 hours Android OS used 30% battery with screen not even making the list. Then have the screen on for 2 hours using the tablet and it's at the top.

What about web browsing? What about playing games? What about streaming movies? You know, the stuff people would actually buy this thing for...If all you are doing is calling, texts and emails, you can get any phone on the market, you don't need to spend $300 and carry around a 5.3 inch super phone. Once you start doing the things I mentioned above, watch your battery go bye bye fast.

First off, you didn't post a shot that shows actual usage time. Second, you are just on 4G, which to AT&T is basically 3G for everyone else. Of course you will see better battery life. You aren't on 4G LTE...

Usage on the battery display is time based, not power based.

There are other tools you can use to see consumption based on power.
I believe System Tuner has one.

When I saw it at Future Shop, I thought the device obscene in size. I have very small hands.

But upon reflection, realizing what it's purpose is, I say competition is good! I like seeing new things on the market.

I for one, do hope that Apple puts out a 4" screen at minimum for it's next version of iPhone.

My bad and relax, 4G over here in the is HSPA which is about 6 to 9 Mbps in my area. I only get 4G LTE at my 2nd office (in Hollywood). The 3G in my area is pretty terrible... ran several tests before on 3G and only got like 1.5 Mbps down and hardly nothing up.

So about 5 hours screen time before I toss it on the charger which I thought was pretty good.

Lets just all agree that the Iphone battery lasts longer because of the very small 3.5" screen . That makes perfect sense to all of us. Does it last twice as long? No it does not. So, with that said, can you carry a spare battery in your wallet for those times you are not near a charger and run out of juice on the iPhone? No you can not. So, with that said, is the battery issue really worth arguing, since most users of cellphones other than the iPhone have the ability to carry a spare battery? I guess not.
I love Apple products, and have a house full of them, but saying that the reason not to use another phone is because of battery life might be valid if it were not for the ability of all those other phone users being able to carry spare batteries with them for those times when needed.
Why must all posts about any successful Android device be met with so much hate and at many times, misleading and totally false information? Many here actually use both Apple and Android, and are happy with both of them.
This is a forum for those people who are passionate about their cell phones to write about them, but they need to realize that there are many quality devices out there, and their device isn't necessarily the "best" simply because they prefer it.

ok, so the LTE and internet is what kills battery life then.

Yea, sorry. I expect a device to last me more than 3 hours of use without having to carry around spare batteries, thats ridiculous.

Not sure why you keep saying 3 hours. Thats just plain false, as most of us know. Obviously you have some personal agenda, and spewing your hatred for anything other than Apple is clearly evident by your posts.
Someone takes the time to post a screen picture showing his situation, and thats not good enough either. I think that most of those who switched from iPhones to the Note would agree that they get about 90% of the battery life with the note as they got with the iPhone.
Thats the price you pay for a larger screen and having 4g LTE available. Would anyone really expect a screen that is double the size in viewing area to get the same battery life? I knew when I bought the Note that the battery life was going to be less, but I accepted that because for me the large display made it worth it. Factor in the ability to carry a spare battery, and it was more than a non issue, it is actually an advantage to the devices that have the ability to have batteries swapped out.
You aren't convincing anyone here except yourself.

The note is quite an impressive phone. Even so, that it's really making some hardcore Apple fans switch over. I just don't think people wanna wait till fall for a new phone that may be in line with the S2 but with a better "user experience". The note has taken the Apple blinders off some people and I suspect the S3 will do the same.

No dude, its not. I am talking about usage time, not the time its sitting there doing nothing. People claiming great battery life with it are only doing some texts and emails. A moderate to heavy user doing things like web, games, streaming Netflix, calls and all that real world stuff is only going to get around 3 hours usage on this thing. As I said, my iPhone was still at 51% battery after 4hrs and 30mins of actual use. You really want to carry around extra batteries with an already huge phone? Where are you carrying this stuff? I don't carry a man bag.

I get 6 hours usage out of my iPhone from texting, phone calls, very light web browsing and Facebook.

Sometimes more sometimes less.

aefc7d3e-fc85-603e.jpg

Using Netflix and gaming I obviously get much less.

So regardless I'm charging everyday. So someone gets 4 - 5 hours vs my 6 doing the same thing. And someone else gets 3 hours vs my 3 1/2 to 4 with gaming and watching movies well holy crap big flippin deal.

Mbell, sure I browse a ton and stream, and play games, but I can't stream and play games 10 hours a day while I'm at work. I play games mostly on my XBox and Playstation. I browse mostly on my new iPad, and I stream mostly on my 70" TV using apple TV. I don't want any phone on the market. I want what is new. In a month I will try another phone. My 4s is with me 75% of the time, but I like trying new stuff.

What about web browsing? What about playing games? What about streaming movies? ----------

When my average phone call length is 5 to 7 minutes. That is approx 4 hours of phone use. Phone calls chew up battery life. I'm not looking to argue with the two of you. What I use the phone for gives me a great days use out of it without charging. My 4s has to be plugged in at 6pm when I do the same things. I'm not bashing any phone, I am simply telling you the Note lasts longer in my daily uses than the 4s.
I would like to meet the person who actually uses his phone for 16 hours straight, 100% never stopping, just full out 16 hours of streaming, and game playing. No breaks just full go.

I don't understand why you think this response refutes what mbell wrote to you. The fact is you didn't "use" the phone for 16 hours. MBell,

Are you an iPhone fan or an Android fan, or do you still have a razr flip phone? Your all over the place in this thread and the one I listed below.

"Before I return my iPhone 4s...
Just wanted to see if I was missing something. First, ringtones. I really have to download it to my phone, email it, download it on my computer, drop it into iTunes and then sync my phone? Just to add a custom ringtone? Do I really need a separate dialer app just to be able to see my contacts as I start to dial? Downloaded Dialveteca which works ok but then when I enter a number, I have no ability to add a new contact from it. Anything all in one? No alternative keyboards? I also can't stand having to work around putting the address of a place into my telenav app since I can't get voice guided directions from safari"

"I shouldn't have to hack my phone just to add a custom ringtone. I suppose this is why I have always resisted having an iPhone although I own every other Apple product. Got spoiled with Android I guess. Any jailbreaks for 5.1 yet"

I need a phone to be a phone

Small, handy and inconspicuous

Some of these android handsets and this hybrid are just far too big for me. The galaxy s is the biggest a mobile should be for me. Even the s2 is pushing it and the note is massive.
