Man, a case on this form factor would take away the slick hands-on feel of the thing & satisfaction you get from folding/unfolding the device. I understand the need to protect such an expensive phone, but if ever there was a device you wanted the tactile feel of, it’d be this one.
Least with a skin you would still have that

So will smart switch move everything over so I don't need to download all my apps again?

I'm doing my manually. I last used Android 6 years ago so I'll have some apps that will carry over. And I have probably 80% of my current contacts saved in Google Contacts.

saw the video that goes with the skins that put me off far too convoluted for me
Honestly it's pretty simple. Also it's just the back plate. No sides. I wouldn't bother with the camera skin.

The less bulk added to this enormous device, the better IMO.

Delivered, but I'm stuck at work...sigh. My wife just sent me a picture to tease me.

Anyone considering the Dbrand skins they are not making the Teardown ones, those are the ones that look like the inside of the phone. https://dbrand.com/shop/special-edition/teardown If interested write to them begging for them to make it!! I think that skin would look crazy good on the Fold2.

Some initial thoughts on the Fold 2 so far.
Not negatives or positives just my observations

It takes a lot of force to open an close the phone. To me it is unnatural to use this much force...but will get used to it :)

I find that despite the external screen size....I am able to do a lot of things without having to unfold the phone.
The internal display is gorgeous.

The phone is very fast and quick.
Not all apps have been optimised to use the internal display yet. That should happen over time though

The phone is heavy...but not too heavy imho
It fits quite nice in my front pockets on my shorts and jeans :)

The speakers are great!

When unfolded this is a big phone. But surprisingly I can hold it with my left and use it with my right hand. Then I always use my phone 2 handed so the Fold2 is no different for my uses anyway.

The FPS is fast...no issues so far.
The Facial recognition is also very fast. Although not as secure as Face Unlock (Google) or FaceID (Apple)

I did not like the split screen keyboard but always use Gboard any way :)

Too early to gage battery life but it seems to be above average. I have been using it alot and at 80% i have 1.5 SOT

Haven't tested out the camera yet.

Edit:
This thing is a fingerprint magnet! Not brave enough to remove the default display protection.
The Spigen case i want won't be available until late October!

It's not a good sign that you still have the cancel button. I saw on reddit that some people in the uk that ordered unlocked version had gotten emails/texts from Samsung that said their orders had been delayed. I don't remember how long the delay was for.
Yup. Still showing the same thing, disappointed, I'm thinking it will still be another couple of weeks. Jealous of those getting it early.

Just got mine. Setting it up now.

First hands on thoughts...

- feels very premium and well built. Feels like a $2k phone.
- heavy, but not in a bad way.
- feels like it'll take a while to learn how to use the new form factor
- I'm nervous as hell holding it because I have no case or anything.
- inside screen protector is hazy and takes away from how good that display is.

When you say “hazy”, is it like an anti-glare screen protector effect?

Apparently Samsung can remove that screen protector?

Take it with a grain of salt because I never use screen protectors on my phones other than iPhones because they seem to scratch so easily. But you can definitely see some haziness especially on lighter backgrounds. Its hard to describe.

Also, I dont notice too much friction with the screen protector. It feels fine to use.

One thing I notice thats a litte jarring is the front display feels laggy due to the refresh rate being lower than the main screen. But Im sure its fine for whats essentially the secondary screen. Also, its really, really skinny.

I am not sure yet to be honest. It will take some getting used to as far as work flow goes.

Same. Obviously I just got mine, but Im not blown away like I thought I would be. Maybe that changes when I starting multitasking more. The hardware is beautiful but the software feels like typically One UI with a couple small add-ons for the Fold.
