This looks really, really nice. I'm interested in the Galaxy Fold line for the long-term future, no doubt, but will be waiting until at least the Fold 3, provided this generation is received well by users. This is obviously the future of the premium smartphone market so no need to rush. This is a form factor that likely has 10 or so years ahead of it.

When I look at what they did with this (only) second gen design, all I can think is THIS is why you never jump on the first version of a product. This looks so much better by comparison.

Well, looks like we have price and preorder info for the US. At that price, still a bit too steep for what amounts to my secondary device. Hell, that's still pretty damn expensive for a primary device. Looking forward to experiences of those of you who do pull the trigger.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 will launch on September 18th for $1,999.99

It's a primary device for me, why would I carry around a phone AND this? I do agree it's real expensive, but hey it's cutting edge. I'm getting $400 for my old Pixel 3XL which is just sitting in a drawer, plus they are offering $50 credit for preorders, that's only $100 more than the top iPhone 11 pro max.

So is it settled that the inside screen is native resolution and 120Hz? Sure seems like it! :D

Oh, I'm not passing any judgement on those who chose to dive in, just that I'm not leaving the iPhone behind as MY primary, so if I bought one, it would be for my secondary phone (a Pixel 4 XL at the moment) and $2K ventures into the 'wife will kill me instead of rolling her eyes' territory. ;)

I will pre-order via AT&T. I am so extremely curious as to how much I will or will not like it. Can always return if desired. I would lease it for a year and then see how the Fold 3 compares. The Fold 2 is truly exciting. Can’t say the same about the 2020 iPhones.

Ahh lol, I hear ya. My Pixel 3XL is my "secondary" phone, but the only thing it does is collect dust in my drawer lol. I suppose my iphone 11 pro max will now be my "secondary" phone as I scramble to figure out how to control my kids Screen Time on their ipads. Last full time Android phone I had was the Note 7 so I'm really not sure if this is going to work.

$2000? No thanks.

The phone looks great but for that price I could get a flagship smartphone and a top of the line tablet like an IIP or Galaxy Tab S7 Plus.

That's actually a really good idea. My wife is really hard core Apple though and refuses to get off iOS, her last stint was the Note 7 and with the whole exploding phone fiasco I think she's done for life with Samsung/Android. It's ok, she's vulnerable to jewelry.

Good luck fitting both of those into your front pocket!

I get the appeal of having both in one, trust me. But having a better phone and a better tablet for the same price seems like too good of a value to pass up in comparison.

With that said, if the trade-in deals are really good I'll give it another look.

2.000$ is the same price the Fold 1 had right?

I think Samsung right now is in a great position. They are making the best phones, with a lot of variety and new form factors, like Fold 2 or Z Flip. S20 and Note 20 line are also very high end with best in class designs.

Then you have their mid-range lineup with phones like the A71 which I personally own and think is excellent for a mid-range.

Samsung has the most exciting phones right now, and their software is better than ever.

I hated Samsung years ago, but they are killing it in the last 2 years.

The question is... Will the Fold 2 get cheaper in the next coming months like it usually happens with Samsung?

Was that the case with the Fold 1?

I could consider paying 1.000€ for this in the future, but I guess it won't get that low ever, since that is the price of the S20 and Note 20 lineup already.

Wouldn't pay 1.000€ for any other phone, but this device does feel like something futuristic.

I tried the Z Flip in a store a while back and didn't like the line in the middle of the screen. It's called the crease I believe? Future foldables need to minimize this because it's quite noticeable.

Apparently Samsung will be giving up to $800 for trade ins. I guess that makes it more palatable depending on what devices they ask for. If I can get around $700 for my S20 and there are other pre-order bonuses then maybe this becomes a better deal.

Yeah, that's where I'm at, as long as I can get $700 ($650 plus the $50 preorder credit), I'll be getting one. Already cancelled my Note 20 ultra order since I wasn't even really looking forward to getting it.

I'm so glad the Fold 2 is this good, as I've always had the Fold 3 set to be my first foldable. I've said it from the start, foldables are the future, and the manufacture that takes first real steps into that future, gets my money. I can't imagine how anyone that considers themselves a tech junkie, can't appreciate and reward the manufactures that bear the costs to pioneer new form factors. The manufactures that sit at the sidelines, waiting for others to improve the tech, are like the retailers that only match prices, only after another retailer already took the time to deal a lower price with you. No thanks.
