I get the appeal of having both in one, trust me. But having a better phone and a better tablet for the same price seems like too good of a value to pass up in comparison.

With that said, if the trade-in deals are really good I'll give it another look.

Yeah I don't disagree with your reasoning at all, but I look at it the opposite way where the convenience is more important. Don't get me wrong, it's exorbitant any way you look at it. But having a tablet fold into my pocket is something I've been waiting for a long time to come true. I haven't been this excited since the first iPad and the first Samsung windows tablet. The tech, durability, pricing, etc may not be here today, but there is no doubt that this is a complete game changer.

Sadly, My wife has zero interest in tech. She gets a new phone when something physically breaks on her last one and she's an iPhone gal...not a chance she'd want anything different.

It's alright...I'll just live vicariously through all of you.
My Mrs is the same but she loves the flip after initial shock of whats wrong with my old phone its only 3 years old

I just had to pry her old 2015 MB 12" off her even though it was dying after 45 mins of use, gave her a new Samsung Book S with 18-20 hours battery life not a grumble insight :)

Apparently Samsung will be giving up to $800 for trade ins. I guess that makes it more palatable depending on what devices they ask for. If I can get around $700 for my S20 and there are other pre-order bonuses then maybe this becomes a better deal.

$800 is for a Fold 1 from what I understand, but they are being very generous. They are giving me $400 for my pixel 3 XL. I think $600 is probably what they are at with a current flagship. They are also offering a $50 credit for pre ordering, but I'm not sure if this is just for their store or actually money off.

The question is... Will the Fold 2 get cheaper in the next coming months like it usually happens with Samsung?

Was that the case with the Fold 1?

I could consider paying 1.000€ for this in the future, but I guess it won't get that low ever, since that is the price of the S20 and Note 20 lineup already.

Wouldn't pay 1.000€ for any other phone, but this device does feel like something futuristic.

I tried the Z Flip in a store a while back and didn't like the line in the middle of the screen. It's called the crease I believe? Future foldables need to minimize this because it's quite noticeable.
That;s not strictly true as many of the bundles diminish although the Fold 1 had buds in the box, but most others, early adopters get the best deals if you value the freebies and the trade-ins

Yeah Samsung in particular always has really good deals for pre order. Typically they have some sort of BOGO, but they are being quite generous in their trade in prices. Even Verizon isn't too shabby, $550 off with new line and trade in. I wouldn't mind a BOGO though and sell one of them.

Yep I just got a free 50" TV with my Note and a free soundbar with my G9 monitor, sell them off plus trade in my Fold 1 and its cost me almost nothing (ish) LOL

Those offers aren't available in all countries. Here in Spain I saw some deals for the Note 20, but they aren't as common over here.

I gotta be honest here, Im basically just trying to convince myself not to order it, lol. And the more videos I watch, the more its failing. Its just so rare for something to come along in the smartphone market that is completely different and exciting. So Im with you, I will most likely pre-order. The big thing for me will be the trade-in prices. I'll look around to see which makes the most sense.

Now that im considering this the big questions for me are...

How many good quality cases will be available for such a niche device? And how much bulk will they add to an already bulky device?

Also Im a little worried typing on it will be weird when unfolded.

I feel like the Fold 1 case market is really weak. Maybe 2.0 will mean more and better cases.

Also I don't know of any Fold battery cases. Something to keep in mind. If someone can't get enough juice to last them though a heavy day of use you are SOL besides an external charger.

I used to always use a split keyboard on my iPad Mini. Confident that option is on this device in Settings.

They did announce an official leather case and another case that sort of looks like carbon fiber, they looked pretty svelte.

The V1 came with a free case and the optional leather but V2 has more options

if you are really a road warrior then adjusting to use the front screen more will significantly increase your battery endurance

Going to have to pass on the Fold 2. I can afford it, but my buyers remorse will eat me alive. I'll just be happy getting the Tab S7+ and the keyboard cover.

Someone on Reddit who talked to Samsung reps said there is no case nor buds included this year.

I mean that's really not a great compromise. Hopefully this thing will last most people a full day of use.

Bingo. You can't deny how exciting this device is. Unlike the iPhones coming this fall.

Man I forgot about wireless Dex, I am super excited for this. It's also interesting to note Microsoft's work on the dual windows stuff, it solidifies my belief that they are hardware agnostic (including the Duo) for their push of a multi window paradigm for productivity. In other words the Duo isn't going to have any software advantages because of it's dual screens.

Purchased it. Got the 45mm watch / buds live bundle with the phone for 60% off. Cost about 2100 (will sell my s20 ultra manually instead of trade in) for phone, watch, buds live. Used a student discount + $100 off for cancel trick.

Well, my order is officially placed. The trade-in deals are not good. But I should still be able to get ~$700 for my S20 Plus on Swappa which reduces the cost. Still, I would have expected better add-ons and trade in offers from Samung.

I was able to use a student discount but I didnt see the $50 credit anywhere. Anyway, Im supposed to get it on Sept 21st. Lets see if I cancel before then or keep it.

Cancel trick?

Place order, then cancel and a popup will ask why , and you say "Found cheaper elsewhere" and choose best buy or amazon and then it offers you $100 off if you dont cancel.

A new very quick hands on video, comparing old and new. I love the more square design. Amazing device.

Another one, showing advance features.

Damn, wish I saw this post 15 min. ago, just placed my order.

Still a good deal IMO, with the bundle, tradein (S20), student discount, and $15 store credit I had save up, the phone, watch, and buds live came out to $1,600.

Got my pre-order in.

Unlocked mystic black with gold hinge. Est. time 5 weeks. I'll wait.

I received the pre-order notification email (I signed up for the reserve list) and sealed the deal on the Samsung Shop app.

It was actually quite the seamless experience.

I got a discount somehow so the phone was $1849.53, plus $50 instant credit for accessories. I wasn't sure if I could claim it later (I wanted to get the carbon fiber looking stand case, but it wasn't listed as an option) so I opted for the UV disinfecting contraption. It cost $49.99 so it ended up being free. They only offered $350 for my mint Galaxy S10 512GB so I didn't trade in; I can make much more on Craigslist. Didn't see the $100 trick until after I ordered. It's ok.

They offered Samsung financing but it was asking me questions to qualify and I didn't feel like it so I just paid on my credit card through Samsung Pay. It was very seamless overall. I declined the Samsung protect $11.99/mo plan and also declined the "Trade in your phone after 20 months and we'll buy it back for $1000". Total cost out the door was just over $2,000. Here we go! Am I the only one?

Wow just got an email for pre order, on top of $400 for my pixel 3xl and the $50 credit they are offering the Galaxy Watch 3 and the new earbuds for $250, don't know if I can resist since I'm switching over from the Apple ecosystem.

Anyone see a way to put in a G Watch 3 in Titanium? I'm sure it will be more expensive, but if they apply a discount I'm in.

Anyone know if the unlocked has the same bands as Verizon? I'd rather get the unlocked one for faster updates.
