Consider they probably paid cash only around $900 after trade-ins and deals, they make a profit. I only paid $831 before taxes after my trade in of the Fold 2.
Well, that's not really a profit because you aren't taking into account the value on the phone you are trading in that you are losing. If you trade a fold 2, pay $900, and sell the Fold 3 for $1250 you are most certainly losing money.

Anybody else get the regular Watch 4? I upgraded from the Watch 3 (more akin to the new "classic"). The software is much much better. So far I like it.
I went from the Watch 3 to the (slightly) downsized Watch 4 (44mm) and I love the thinner and lighter design compared to the Watch 3. So much more comfortable on my wrist.

I do miss the rotating bezel but, compromise for the more compact design.

My only petty complaint is the included watch faces are kinda junk compared to the Gear S3 and the Watch 3 I previously had. So much window dressing with no usable data on the screen. Hate them. And even one of the ones I like on the Play Store requires Google Fit and the data isn’t usable on Samsung Health. So it’s a little fragmented which is annoying.

Really miss the Galaxy watch face store.

Overall though I’m pretty happy with it though this is my first full day using it.

Well if one has noticeable scratches on their display, they would have an extremely hard time selling it. Samsung is probably the only outlet to get a a good trade in deal without the device being in mint condition.

Just checked Swappa because I was curious of what people were selling new Fold 3s for there....$1250!

That's an incredible amount of depreciation.
Yeah, $1280 for a factory sealed 256GB unlocked model. That’s only $80 more than an equally equipped 12 Pro Max.

Not gonna lie, had my finger over the buy button for longer than I should’ve. ;)

Seems Chrome and Google Maps (2 of my more used apps) drain this thing with no remorse.
I try to avoid using Chrome as much as possible. I use Samsung Internet for the Fold.. has more features compared to Chrome. Perhaps, you like using Chrome for cross-platform purposes. But why not go with Microsoft Edge? It’s cross-platform and it’s not power-intensive.

I don't know why anyone would ever use Chrome when Samsung Browser is a million times better than it. Hate it on desktop, hate it on mobile.

Yes, I use it for crossover purposes, but also because I'm not familiar with many other browsers. I've been all things Safari until about a month ago. However, I agree and will give Edge a greater try. I've played with it a bit on my laptop and was pretty impressed overall–I'm just not used to it. Most online reviews have been positive. Will make it my main today and see how it goes.

I use Chrome on all my devices it’s just synced nicely …not enough battery drain to keep me away …and wow on them Swappa prices Bc I would not sell there even with my $750 price on the ZF3 plus getting Rakuten and Discover cash backs on top in future …

Samsung resale prices have never been great, but if they're diving that much you are pretty much locked into buying phones from them using trade ins unless you want to just eat the depreciation cost.

Yeah, I picked up a Mini-PC about two weeks ago… installed Windows 11 on it. Been using Edge over Chrome, I like it more. I even have Edge beta on both the iPad and Fold, but I primarily use Safari on the iPad and Samsung Browser on the Fold.

And it’s understandable you want cross-platform support… it can be cumbersome trying to manage which website you visited on a browser. All the browsers I use... have the same favorites across the board, but I use Google Keep in an effort to save an article if needed since it’s cross platform.

My Watch3 depreciated so hard I almost couldn't believe it. Paid well over $400 for it in January and I just traded it in for $135. I couldn't get much more for it if I tried. It doesn't help that shortly after I bought it new, Samsung dropped the price on it by nearly $200. Oh well!

Yup. I already know.. that’s why I’m monitoring the price. I bought mine from Best Buy full retail.. no discounts or trade in applied to my purchase. There’s already open boxes available right now in my area… I could return this one and get an open box, but meh. I rather wait for Best Buy or Amazon have one on sale.. to see about getting a reimbursement.

We have no idea how these sellers obtained their trade ins devices or condition etc

Given that most F3's released are in countries with still 14/28 days returns these guys must be making a profit else they would simple ask for a return/refund

These are opportunist for sure

In real terms of ownership (out of pocket) its a wash between Apple vs Samsung and very much country specific

Although US generally has better 2nd hand value for their Iphones than most, many other factors favor Samsung and so balances out.

You also have to take into account employee incentives for buying the Z Fold 3... they received an incredible discount.

Yeah, but I don't see the point in selling the Z Fold 3... its not on the level of PS5 and Series X scarcity.

He missed something major, arguably what should have been the single most important durability test, the actual inner screen and not the screen protector. I think anyone would be much more comfortable knowing they could safely go back to Samsung and simply get a new screen protector installed instead of an entirely new screen. At least on my Fold 2 the screen without the screen protector felt MUCH more durable and scratch resistant.

I think he's going to make a continued video on it.

Not surprised but it's not something upu buy with the intent to sell within a year or two. I'd keep it until it couldn't get more updates.

Big reason I switched to Apple was this exact problem. Android drops too quickly.

Been using a 12 pro max/AW5 for 6 months. Generally happy and everything works ok, things started to get a little stale and same old same old and now have the upgrade itch.

Fold3 was announced and it intrigued me. Got one ordered and it arrived today as well as a watch4 classic.

(Not a noob to android), set it up just how i like it and wow the screen does blow you away. The front screen i find a little too narrow for my fat thumbs but using the main screen is a Joy.

you can feel the screen crease with your finger which was a little off putting at first but this soon goes away.

first day today and battery got battered with all the setting up of apps etc but I can see how people are little worried about it.

the under screen camera hides it self very well and not bothered me one bit.

for the way I use my phone I think the fold3 Isn’t very practical for me. I’m too used to whipping a phone out of my front pocket , unlock and get on with it. If the front screen was a little wider then it would be even better, ie use the front for on the go and use big screen when you have more time and want to do more in-depth work.

folded size is also a little bit of a concern. im using it naked right now but once there is a case on it, it will simply be too bulky for my liking.

i then played with the iPhone and instantly can see how dated it looks lol.

I think il try the S21 ultra next to see if that is better for me, a better camera and battery On par with the iPhones.

the watch4 classic is a joy to use though. Really like it and will be keeping it.

just my 2p worth, I’m glad i tried it, technology has certainly risen to the next level.
I love my Fold3 but the S21 Ultra is the absolute best phone out right now in my opinion. You won't regret getting it. I'll likely keep both. I love the ZF3 and it will be my daily because of its versatility but the S21 Ultra is easily my favorite device Ive had. It will be my weekend warrior.

Obviously not true as I’ve seen some that say battery life is more or less fine for what it is (Michael Fisher specifically). Not amazing but fine, depending on how you use it, kinda like any other phone. Sure the battery is a bit small-ish considering the device, no denying that. But your constant hyperbolic bashing of anything Samsung is very disturbing. I don’t know how they hurt you in the past but please, just go to the nearest person you can find and get a hug. It’ll all be ok in the end. Big, bad Samsung won’t hurt you anymore. I promise.

But I’ll see for myself and my use-case when I get mine in a couple weeks.

This may be true but until Samsung Browser gets compatibility with MacOS with bookmark/password synchronisation.. until then I'm out.

Google Chrome is perfect the above and for people in fingers in different OS pots. I can use Chrome on my M1 MacBook Air and continue with the same activity on my S21 Ultra Chrome mobile. That functionality is keeping me on Chrome for now.

Also for the record Chrome is improving all the time. There's even an Apple silicon version.
