Who's watching the Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow morning?

Definitely watching. I'm also VERY interested in what's in store for the Galaxy Watch 4. From the rumors I've been hearing, it seems like the monotony of Tizen will finally change. And that's been long overdue.

Also wonder if they will introduce a 2 gen of Buds Live. Buds Live is my favorite buds I've used, and I've tried so many. So any improved version I would jump on.

Sounds like the Fold 3 will be $1799. Also, Samsung worked with Google and other popular app makers to optimize apps for the Fold. Most of Googles apps as well as Facebook, Twitter, Teams, Office.

I believe they did a preview of WearOS 3 a couple months back or maybe it was last month.. can’t remember. I’m more interested in 3rd party dev support… specifically Apple Music support. I wonder how the remote control feature will work when playing various audio apps.

Rumors are that $1799 is the price tag, but has their been any official Samsung listing showing it? I’ll be tuned it for OneUI 3.1.1… looking to see what they do with enhancements to columnView UI, supposedly we will be able to change it.

Samsung is looking to remove their own Messaging app in favor of Google’s app, I’ve already transition over to Google Messaging app when they introduced the 2 column layout for the Fold.

Not official, but theres a leaker on twitter @TheGalox_ thats always been spot on with Samsung leaks. If you check it out, hes leaking a ton right now.

Also saying that the hinge and rails are upgraded as well as the vibration motors. Theres also a hands on video floating around. Whats weird is that in some videos the under display camera is almost invisible and in others you can clearly see it.

I may not be able to watch it live but I am interested in seeing the highlights later. The Fold 3 is too rich for my blood but good to see new things being done.

Yeah, Sakitech posted the video on his channel and it’s on the Fold reddit thread too. 4MP UDC shouldn’t have been implemented, imo. I’ve never had an issue with the Fold 2 camera impeding the content I’m looking at, I think they could have waited to improve on the tech.

Given the 1st generation Fold had a iPhone-like notch… 2nd generation hole-punch camera was an improvement, upgrade it to a 12MP… 4K (60fps), that should of been the direction for the 3rd generation Fold. Tbh, the UDC is a step back.

Agree regarding the UDC. It innovating for the sake of it rather than for a purpose. That tech just doesnt seem ready yet. Honestly, I would rather they get rid of the inner display camera all together. You still have front and back cameras. Thats enough.

My thoughts exactly! I NEVER used the inner display camera… with selfies I use main (back) camera and use the front display for the view finder.

I do understand that the inner display camera might be needed for video calling, but I think the front camera can be used for that purpose. Two cameras is more than enough… three cameras is overkill for this device. It’s one of those things where it’s one of those spec sheet wars that Samsung is known for… “oh look we have 3 cameras.”

Man, it's just hard to swallow that price tag when the Cameras aren't as good or better than the S21 Ultra.
If you choosing the Fold… having the latest and greatest camera tech isn’t what they are known for. You buying into the screen-tech innovation… at least that’s my thought process. Because eventually… that rollover display might end up being a product of Samsung.

Yeah probably. Camera tech is pretty much my #1 deal on smartphones, but the fold technology really is great.

When do pre orders start?
According to the Verge it starts today.

Preorders for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 start today and it’s available in three colors: black, green, and silver. The flagship foldable will go on sale August 27th alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Buds 2, and two new smartwatches that Samsung also introduced today.
And I just went through the website… it is available for preorder.

I went through the website.. unable to login. And on the Shop Samsung app.. the Fold 3 is not listed. I’m trying to get a gauge on how much the trade in for the Fold 2.

And I’m looking at the Samsung stream to get some information on OneUI 3.1.1, because most of the YT content creators are only speaking of the hardware.

Just peeped the new Pin-TaskBar feature.. that looks sweet. Probably the only feature I’m anxious to try out. Hoping that OneUI 3.1.1 will show up next month, but that’s wishful thinking on my part. However, I do wonder will they include it for other Galaxy devices or is it Fold exclusive.

And Samsung better not.. have it only for the Fold 3.

Its up now. The trade ins suck IMO. You get $800 for the Fold 2. The S21 Ultra only get $650.

Well Samsung, I'm out. Trade ins arent good enough to make it worth a try. Bring on the Pixel 6 Pro.

Samsung should partner with skinny jean brands for the Z Flip 3. That's the perfect use case.

I just checked it out for fun, and yeah, it's almost like they set it up so you have to trade in multiple devices. They should be giving at least $1,000 for the Fold 2 and S21 Ultra.

I did have hopes s pen would be in the phone so the fact it’s not really means this isn’t a note replacement.

Mewhosetheboss video shows the great and the bad about the phone.

I also tried to pre-order. Got to the end but order just wouldn't go through yet. Trade in was $800, which is slightly disappointing. I was expecting closer to $1K.

The good thing is, I don't think they care much for scratches. As the options are cracked screen or not cracked.

I will say the software looks way better which was my biggest complaint with the Fold 2. Seems like they worked a lot with other companies to get the popular apps optimized for the folding display.

Also, while trade-in values suck, the preorder promo is $200 plus $100 if you pre-reserved or whatever they call it. So, Essentially $1500 before trade in.

No word on what new features they have for Samsung Dex… didn’t even make the presentation. But yeah, excited to see what 3rd party devs do with the foldable display.

I’m only excited to see what Google does with the camera, the Pixel 6 Pro camera is going to do some amazing things.

I didn’t see any freebies. Was you able to get a free watch or the S-Pen?
