I have a problem with my ssubx 512 ssd. It seems to not be running at the full speed. When i look in the system config, it says that the pci controller and the ssd is only running at x1 Link Width. Isn't it supposed to be x4?? How do i get it to run at the full Link Width??

Move it away from slot 2, maybe?

Actually it is in Slot 4 on a Sintech card. Still only x1. But now i realize all my pci cards including my USB 3.0 card are only link width x1.

I'm running a normal Intel 2.5 inch SSD on slot 2 as my OS. It is also only getting x1 link width.

I'm about to purchase a 2012 12x3.5ghz mac pro and looking at these pcie SSDs, its a jungle out there.
Could anyone advise what the fastest solution is that would allow me to triple boot into linux and windows?
Are there some solutions that wont do this or has everything been sorted out on the driver front these days?

Remove the USB card (BTW, most of these are electrically and physically x1) and see what it will change. You may want to reset PRAM as well. Sometimes it helps for wrong link width reporting in ASP.

I reset the PRAM many times lol, but i haven't tried to remove the USB card yet! I will give it a shot! Thanks!

I can't find any for sale, and the second hand price of them has skyrocketed on eBay etc.

Is there any alternative or have we simply missed the boat for finding an AHCI SM951 bootable on our Mac Pros?

I wish the NVMe could work... I have the PCIe card...

Hi!

I ordered 2 pcs just before the prices went up, i asked here on the forum if they stopped producing but got the reply that they were still in production. However i think that is incorrect. I think that they are aout of stock everywhere because they are no longer produced. But that is just my toughts.

I took the advice they were still in production seriously, otherwise i would have ordered many of them before they went out. That was a stupid decision. Wish i bought them all ;)

Now the $100 128Gb blades are all out..

Slot 2 slows it down with the Lycom card.

mee too, think i got the last ones.. or they have more in stock now?
They used to have good prices, but now the AHCI models are showing as out of stock. Other outlets are similarly reporting "end of life/discontinued" and no stock, which is why the price on eBay has gone way up. Right now, there is still high demand. Eventually, people will find what they need, compromise, or just move on, so that prices will eventually come down. It does suck from the standpoint that Samsung was declaring these as in mass production right up until they time they were all sold.

hello
I was thinking (reading the forum) that i can't boot from an ssd NVME on a mac pro 2009. is that true?
thanks
sorry for my english
