This might be a dumb question but if I saved shsh blobs for my phone on my computer, can I also save my girlfriend's blobs on the same computer? I'm on AT&T and she's with Verizon so I know that I would have to download the appropriate 6.1 ipsw for her phone. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to screw anything up by doing this.

That's fine.

Each device blob file that is saved is different and specific for that specific phone or iOS device, so save as many blobs for as many devices you want on the same computer.

That's what I figured but I just wanted to be sure. I'll be able to tell which blobs belong to which phone based on the name, correct?

I was able to get shsh blob and saved to Cydia but when querying back from Cydia to verify, it showed a popup with blank textbox.

are anyone able to verify your shsh from cydia?

Yes, I think the servers are getting slammed. Check back later on, and save them locally for now.

I posted this last night but I think it got buried and no one saw my question. If anyone could help, that would be great.

Quick question.....

I have saved my shsh's via RedSn0w. When I go to verify the shsh, I am able to see and select the .shsh file in the finder window and then verify they are indeed saved on Cydia. However, when I try to go find the .shsh file on my hard drive, outside of RedSn0w, it is nowhere to be found.

It should be located under Library>Application Support>RedSn0w>SHSH. When I go to the Application Support folder, there is not a subfolder for RedSn0w. Im confused. I just want to make sure my shsh file is saved on my computer as well as Cydia.

Sorry, Im new to jailbreaking and just trying to figure this all out. Thanks

use spotlight

I have any there is no shsh or .shsh files anywhere.

Here is a screen shot. This is when I click on "verify" in Redsn0w. As you can see, searching in spotlight yields no results. I don't get it.

There is "/Library/Application Support" and there is also "~/Library/Application Support". Have you looked in both?

If the software installed 'for all users' it will be in the former. If it installed for a single user only, it will be in the latter (hence the use of the '~' symbol).

I am the only user on my computer. Where do I have to go to see that other file. I can't find the directory with the ~ symbol anywhere in the finder.

Silly question probably but...

Just triple checking this because I am still trying to wrap my head around SHSH blobs and their role...

So I upgraded my AT&T iP5 to 6.1 this morning via iTunes (not OTA).

Now I am downloading the appropriate ipsw file from iClarified and THAT is what I need to save the SHSH blobs from??

Or do I need to do a re-restore from the actual ipsw file I just now downloaded??

Sorry...just a little  over here.

You're good.
You can just use tinyumbrella to pull your shsh blobs if you're not comfortable with redsnow.
Run TU, plug in your iphone and click save shsh.
Done.

Using the '~' symbol is just a shortcut for your home directory. Without using '~' you'd type "/Users/USERNAME/Library".

While Finder is active, hit "cmd-shift-g" and then type "~/Library" (or, /Users/USERNAME/Library) to see your home folder library... and leave out the '~' to see the 'other' library (sorry if that sounds confusing, I can't think of a better way of saying it at the moment!)...

Thoroughly confused

So I downloaded TinyUmbrella and attached my iPhone 4S to my computer at work. I have never downloaded TinyUmbrella to this computer before.

As you can see from the accompanying screenshot, apparently the SHSH blobs for my phone running 5.1.1 have already been saved. Saved where? On the phone? They are not on this computer. BTW, I'm currently running 6.0.1.

If I click the Save SHSH button in TinyUmbrella now, will the 5.1.1 SHSH be overwritten? Does the presence of 5.1.1 SHSH mean I can jailbreak my iPhone if I download the 5.1.1 ipsw and use redsnOw or absinthe?

As you can tell, I am thoroughly confused.

Click on the Advanced tab. It should show you the location of the shsh directory. Navigate to that, and you should see the blobs.

BL.

Thanks for your reply. I found the.shsh directory and there's a file called 14764404010-iphone4,1-5.1.1.shsh and it is 6KB in size, along with two folders called .cache and .known devices.

Now what? Is the phone jailbreak-able at this point back to 5.1.1? Thanks for your reply.

When on the tiny umbrella website I see 3 download links?? Which one? Is it the 'Download iphone recovery' link?

Apologies found it. For those asking the same question as me, its on the right hand side of the screen.

How can you guys be so sure a Jailbreak is coming this Sunday???

How can you guys be so sure a Jailbreak is coming this Sunday??? What if it is a hoax and these Evad3rs are just bs? What if it is not a great idea to update to ios 6.1? Why don't we all wait until Sunday and see what we have to do? I still remember Dec 22nd...

The Evad3rs are real. They have released jailbreaks in the past.

They're the leaders of the jailbreak community. When they speak, we listen.

ok, but why not wait until a real jb is released and then update? what is the benefit of doing it earlier? will apple have a patch the next day?
