No offense but you have to be a complete and total idiot to not buy a screen protector for your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

I've had my first gen iPhone for over 2 years. I've thrown it into walls, lost it onto concrete, dropped it on asphalt, lost it from a moving car onto asphalt, kept it in my pocket with metal keys etc etc. Just from walking in the streets I've probably lost it over 10 times alone, face down in the asphalt (either slipped from my pocket or my slippery hands!)

Seriously, I treated it like ****. The aluminium back has some bulks, fading color and a lot of scratches, but the screen never got any scratches. Not a single one.

I know Ive been lucky, but it really seems the iPhone glass will break into pieces before it gets scratches. FWIW, I've seen much more iPhones with crushed screens than scratches. So from my experience these thin extra films doesnt make much sense. Some kind of protection on the back does, however - although if buying an iPad I know I would miss that direct contact with the cold, delicious aluminium :D (yeah, I have a MBP and I LOVE the feel)

The glass doesn't feel the same with them- even an InvisibleShield. For me the feel and responsiveness of the screen outweigh the possibility of getting a scratch.

agree x1000

The glass screen feels so good without a screen protector. I've been too accustomed with screen protectors on my iPhones I never really got a chance to use one without one till now. It's so much better especially if your into drawing. The stylus just glides across the screen.

It all depends on the type of user you are. Some people can take care of things others can't.

Every iphone I have had has been passed onto a family member in perfect condition. My wife however, has literally destroyed every iphone she has had, including the current one which is about to have the glass screen fall off the back.

Then how do you explain that my iPhone 3GS (heavily used, and not babied and purchased on launch day) that has never had a screen protector on it is 100% scratch free? Same thing with my iPhone 3G and my original iPhone.

For the very first time (have had iPhones since the initial roll out) I dropped my 3GS iPhone out right out of it's case. Actually, it slipped out because I didn't secure the top of the case. Bam! It landed right on my hardwood floor, screen side down. I was pleasantly surprised to find no damage. Other than that one instance, I've never dropped any of my portable electronic devices.

Anyway, I agree with what you said about some people taking care of things while others don't ;) I know someone like that (not intentional but they're just clumsy) and I cringe when I see them handling something valuable

No offense taken. I don't have on on my watch, car window, house windows, tv, mirrors in my house, glass table tops, iphone, iPad, etc, I just use them and they are fine.

Oh, almost forgot, I don't have plastic slip covers for my sofa either.

I lol'd at this.
