Here’s my comparison of the LCD 12.9 M1 (right) VS 13 M4 (left). Definitely warmer than my old iPad but not as bad as others have posted. The lcd was more on the green/blue side. While I have minimal graininess, I do notice the text isn’t as sharp as my 12.9. Wish apple would do a better job keeping a consistent color template.
Text isn’t as sharp due to there being less sub pixels on the OLED M4. Apple remedied this on iPhones by going over 400ppi. They should’ve done the same on the new pros (at least 326 like the mini). It would’ve nearly eliminated the “grain” that lots of people notice as well in the medium grey tones.

IMO this is steaming pile for what they’re charging. Kept my M2! Saved lots!

so is the takeaway that OLED screens are purposefully warmer or is the takeaway that some OLED screens are actually calibrated to the old white point?
The takeaway is that apples QC on these displays is total garbage at a 20% premium. Some are super yellow, some have more noticeable grain than others. All to shave off 1mm. This feels like the butterfly keyboard BS all over again. It’ll get fixed in a couple generations.

My M4 13" Pro looks great to me - glad I moved on to it from my M1 12.9. I don't see it as a "steaming pile".

I had the chance to test four different IPad Pro‘s today in the Store. 2/4 had a yellow/green tint which was very notable off angle (Green) and looking spot on (yellow). If you go to Settings or just load Safari „google.com“ it was visible. Compared side by side the screen also seem a bit dull and not as bright when compared to a flawless IPad Pro which didnt have this problem. Unfortunately there seem to be different screens used in the production at the moment. I hope the issue resolves in a month or two. Reminds me when the new OLED IPhones were released, similar issue.

I also compared the older iPad Pro 13” M2 (LED) left with the Ipad Pro 13” M4 (OLED) right and the whites were already yellow during the setup. I don’t mind an OLED Screen being warm, but it was definitely more than that. To achieve a clear white was not possible unfortunately.

true tone is on by default in setup so that’s what you’re seeing most likely.

Warmer is more color accurate. I have my LG OLED TVs on Warm 30-50. You guys are used to used to very cool, inaccurate color. Train your eyes to get used to warmer colors.

It doesn’t help if the iPad is not able to display white Color accurately.

I picked up another 13" yesterday and very happy with it, it isn't yellow like my first one, it matches my 11" and my 15 pro max.
Yes there are many good displays available. Guess i will wait and try again. But it‘s frustrating that Apple doesn’t have much control over this. At least, not in the first 3 months of production.

Yep, I posted pics of my original 11 inch m4 early in this thread. Since then I picked up a second a few weeks later, which also had the yellow tinged screen retuned both. Recently picked up a 3rd unit and finally happy with the screen. Proper whites without green yellow tinge, third time was the charm for me.

Hello, I am experiencing the same problem with my iPad M4 that I recently purchased in France. It appears very yellow compared to the iPad M2. Could someone possibly take a photo of an iPad M4 and M2 side by side with proper or similar colorimetry? I have just made a request to Apple to inform them that their screens have really poor colorimetry. I have tried tint filters to mitigate this, but I find that the whites now appear too blue. Could you show me ipad pro m4 with same colorimetry with the m2 pro

The number of subpixels is the same as for LCD, three RGB subpixels per pixel. It doesn't have PenTile or similar. What makes the text less sharp is that the subpixels are differently sized and the font rendering hasn't been adapted to that, and also the grainyness of dark grays.

That's close to impossible because cameras all have their own white point (or determine one based on heuristics). Also, the display you view the photo on will have its own white point. The only way to truly assess your display is to buy or rent a colorimeter like the i1 Display Pro and measure it.

I’ve noticed that the M4 pro (nano) is much warmer by comparison to the 5th gen iPad Pro. The old IPad is very similar in color to the XDR Pro display. Even with b&w images tend to be more silvery on the old Pro and more yellow on the new one. I guess it’s the luck of the draw. I remember every new iPhone seemed to have a different white balance.

Have you noticed a difference in color with your IPad Pro?
I notice no difference between two screen in controlled environment. The reflection may cause a lot of difference in color.

So coming in very late here but here is my recent experience. Bought a 256gb cellular Ipad pro M4 13Inch on Monday. Noticed this yellow tint in the screen, or warmer tint however you want to call it, after 2 days i went to the apple store and compared it to all the Ipad pro m4 that i could find. In the picture i attached you can see clearly the difference even with daylight. I then got the ipad replaced and the new one had the exact same tint. Now i am wondering if my store got a bad badge or if it is generally on this specific model(256gb Cellular 13). Now i am not really sure how to proceed if i should try to refund it and get it from another store or if i should switch the model to for example 1tb?
So if you guys figured this problem out by now any advice would be appreciated.

That’s patently false, screens don’t reflect light , they emit light. The new OLED pros are definitely warmer across the board to varying degrees and they have varying degrees of “grain” when brightness is below 50%.

First of all, the m4 ipads are just more yellow than their LCD counterparts. I've seen this in all the apple stores around my home.

Secondly, did you turn off true tone / night shfit and have the screen brightness at exactly the same? I can't tell from your picture and iphones tend to overexaggerate tints.
