In particular, we’re looking at the first benchmarks for the Exynos 5433 version of the Note 4. Note that this is the version that will be distributed mostly in Asia, while Western markets and the United States will get the Snapdragon 805 Note 4 model.

I don't understand why they do this. What is the point in shipping two different versions of the same smartphone model that have different processors to different geographical regions?

Last time, if I remember, it interfered with the LTE band in USA.

----------

That is why they are different processors.

Samsung's own Exynos processor is much better than the Qualcomm chip. I do not know why they don't ship the same processor each flagship phone. It's funny how the Note 2 supported North America LTE with that Exynos chip.

Kinda strange, I mean, Apple can ship phones worldwide with the same SoC and they don't appear to have an issue with LTE interference. Heck Samsung's even making some of those SoCs.

to support USA LTE bands they need a qualcomm radio chip and qualcom won't support a qualcom radio chip paired with a non-qualcom CPU, unless you're apple

I don't expect significant improvement w the snapdragon version of the note 4. Benchmarks for both Note's should be similar.

The Snapdragon 805 is a nice processor, and the Note 4 is a nice phone. Benchmarks will be pretty similar. Can we just accept that both Android and Apple flagships are at the point of being totally awesome?

Both have to win for consumers to win.

What I don't understand is why Samsung announced the note 4 a week before Apple annonced the 6 plus. Then Samsung will release the note 4 almost a month after the 6 plus. I wonder how many millions of people bought the 6 plus instead of the note 4? I'm one of them.

Well, Samsung's "making" of the SoC's just comes down to foundry duties -- Samsung has no input in the design of A-series processors; Apple gives them the lithography and Samsung manufactures it (famously, Samsung wasn't even aware that the A7 they were manufacturing last year was 64-bit).

My guess is that because Qualcomm is already making the LTE modems for Samsung's phones, they've already done the work to figure out how to make their SoC's avoid interfering with them.

Snapdragon 805 might be a nice processor but it could be like the Snapdragon 600 of this generation caught in-between the 800/801 and 810 which looks to arrive next year. SD600 was rarely used only found in the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One (M7), and a few others. The SD600 was caught in-between the S4 Pro and 800. The SD805 looks to be used by Note 4 and Nexus X as most flagships have been released already using the 801. Companies like Sony and others will likely skip the 805 and go directly to 810. By CES, expect the 810 phones to be announced.

One of the upsides is the Adreno 420, which is quite powerful from what I've read and seen in using the phone. People who are not interested in the Note series might want to seriously consider waiting for 810 series phones. However, as someone who has enjoyed using the Note series it would mean waiting another year to get a phone with a better chipset at this point.

People who want to wait will wait for the best phone

I'm one of those people.

Trouble is you could carry on waiting for the best thing which is just around the corner. I'm sure the note 4 will be plenty fast enough for anything we throw at it.

There's no point in waiting. People who are waiting for the Snapdragon 810 next year will see Qualcomm announce the 820 (or whatever is next) and the cycle of waiting will start all over again. Just upgrade and enjoy.

Yep. And at this point I think we can assume that any new real flagship phone will be fast enough for anything we can really throw at them.

Seems that Note 4 is not as good as iPhone 6

In the world of android, the note won't be average, ever. It's always going to be at least top of the line, for the next 8 months it will be premium.

Yes but remember guys this famous line I've read for years:

Its not about the specs or the benchmarks, its about the experience.

That would be nice, if it weren't for the fact that a common refrain of Fandroids is they like to beat people over the head with their spec sheets. In their world, The Snapdragon 805 beats everyone, and especially anything with a fruit logo on it, because OMG TWO MORE CORES AND LOOK AT THE GIGAHERTZZZZZ!!!!!1111one.

Once again, this was the case, that Android-centric blogs and forums were talking about how the Note 4 would smoke the iPhone 6 because the spec sheet looked more impressive. This debunks it.

If anything, I think every time you get Android zealots drooling over the specs and calling their device superior, a real world test like this should be done. Yes, both phablets are great for what they do. If one phablet works for you over the other, then buy that one and enjoy it. Don't try to justify your decision based on gigahertz or gigabytes, or you will lose the argument one way or another.... and it only makes it worse that the argument is pointless to begin with. The only person you should have to justify your purchase with is yourself.

Okay, couple of questions:

Why are they comparing the iphone 6 and not the 6+ to the Note 4? Would it be because the 6 only has a 750p screen with over a million fewer pixels to push compared to the 6+? Gotta wonder how the 6+ would score on the 3D benchmarks. Would 'average' be an apt description? We don't know cause they didn't post those scores.

This..

The iPhone 6 and the note 4 aren't even in the same market

6plus is the appropriate comparison
