Apple marketing at its best. Pencil is nice! Wobbly tip is taking getting used to.
Called the Haywood Mall store in Greenville, SC. Spoke with the manager and she told me there were none in stock. Went to the store anyways... guess what? Got one. The rep told me it was one of the last ones. Didnt say how many were left. Kinda odd that stores are telling people that none are in stock... yet there are.
I've called or stopped by the Roseville, CA Galleria Mall store every day since launch and every time have been told they have received no Smart Keyboards or Pencils. Not a single one for such a busy store. Grr. This not just gadget lust... I truly need the pencil for a project I'm working on that needs to be done this week. Sucks that I'm having to go back to pencil and paper, the workflow is so much more tedious that it would be with a Pro and Pencil.
I went to the Leawood store at 10:00 and there were none in stock, so I went to the Plaza store, and they had both the pencil and keyboard. I got one of each...but of course I didn't have the IPP yet.
I kept checking the Apple Store App for the Pro, and inventory showed up in Leawood, so I ordered my Pro from there.

They had 9 on the shelves an hour ago. I wouldn't doubt it if they had more in the back. Most of the employees there didn't know they had them on the shelves!How many at Century City LA??
I reserved one through the business team earlier this morning, but there were still several left on the shelves at Bellevue Square when I picked up mine about thirty minutes ago!

You have to ask them to transfer you to the store...you're actually talking to someone in a call center otherwise.
I just picked the Pencil up 30 minutes ago at the Park Meadows store in Colorado. There were 4 Pencils remaining on the shelf when I left. It appears they are filtering into quite a few retail locations across the country.

That's definitely what I am doing..calling is no good..I am talking to a person at the actual store..and getting zero actual help other than an immediate no without even checking.

just called again (sorry thats all il can do at the moment) and got a different cat. he said they were sold out. i asked him to look and he checks the freaking apple store app. shows they are out. i say someone just stated there were 9 there. he says they were all sold then as he does not see any.
this is my first ever apple product and this process trying to get an accessory is the cats pants...

I picked up two pencils at West 14th Street NYC today. They may still have some.
So this morning was my first experience calling an Apple Store and was surprised when I ended up at a corporate call center. I had asked to be transferred to the store and I was told they didn't have that ability.
So I figured I was doing something wrong, since you all were saying you were calling the stores! I checked google and apparently when the automated voice starts asking what you want you just say "manager" and it sends you to the local store. I did try that and it worked
Picked one up at the Union Square store in San Francisco about an hour ago. Just happened to walk by and decided to pop in. Gonna cancel my web order now!
Just tell the automated system to speak to a manager and it will get you to someone in the store.
