Awww. Those are the two stores closest to my house. That is what I get for being a good daughter and going to visit my mom today instead of searching for a pencil.
The employee at city creek told me he had just sold the last one, so I blame you for the journey I will have to take tomorrow..
Kenwood store in Cincinnati, OH was out at 6:00 pm when I went but I did get a keyboard 
. Funny thing was the special I asked told be to check online and reserve in store pick up. I told her the online store doesn't allow that. She said that's because they were out. I said no it's not even an option. I even pulled up the online store on my phone and could even see the Keyboard in my hand that wasn't paid for was availible.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I went to UTC as soon as I read this post, around 2:40pm, and was able to pick up a Pencil and Smart Keyboard!
I'm a business customer. They actually called me and said I was in luck and that they had pencils in stock. He asked me how many I wanted, and I said two. I plan on keeping both, not selling. I always like to have a backup stylus for my tablets.
I got one at The Grove in Los Angeles, at about 4pm. They got a late shipment in today. The redshirt wouldn't tell me how many they still had in the back room (the pencils weren't on the retail shelves yet), but they said they had a "limited supply," as of 4pm-ish. Call before you endanger lives with your Mad Max driving and ask to speak to a manager, to see if they're still in stock.
Well I was late to the party so Fashion Place Apple Store in Utah had some but all are gone. I wish Apple would just send 20 to each store, (10 for online and 10 for in store) and limit one per customer until they're more readily available. I'm just going to order online and maybe I'll get to use it before Jan.
Talking to the manager at the store in Vancouver also leads to misinformation... They don't have any in stock (probably true). I asked him to check the other locations and he said that's not possible for them to do at all technically (even though someone did it yesterday for me). And then he said "well, just place a reserve and pick up order online". I told him that wasn't possible in Canada, though he insisted it was. BTW, it's not possible. The hunt continues north of the border...
I called the San Jose Valley Fair mall. They had pencils at noon. But I had a meeting at 1pm and there was no way I was going to make it back. So I had to sit through a 2.5 hour meeting.
Result: I missed my change to get a pencil. I asked them if they can hold, they said first come first serve. I will remember this....

They had like 9-12 Pencils on the shelf. I took the only Smart Keyboard they had on display but I wouldn't be surprised if they had more in the back.
Aww man I should have headed over after work. I called that location and the guy said they did have some in stock although not very many. He wouldn't tell me how many, although I told him it would take me like 20 min to get there and I wanted to know whether or not I should make the trip. He said that they were going pretty quickly so he did not recommend it. He told me to check back tomorrow.
