Well I got my Pencil from Best Buy delivered via UPS today. I saw a tweet today from someone who knows two people that have already lost their pencils. How the hell do you lose a $99 pencil? I'm sorry but if I'm spending $99 on something I'm going to make damn sure I don't lose it. No kiddies will have unsupervised access to it and I bought a cheap zippered case at a local arts and craft store where I will be storing the pencil when not using it.

I'm in agreement with you. Like I said they started getting away with keeping people waiting for the new devices and they still selll a Bajilion of them so next time they push the envelope harder.

I suspect they feed limited quantities through certain stores just to help generate that much mor hype.
I doubt it. At this point Apple doesn't need hype to sell a product. They are losing obvious up sells as some people will conclude they don't really need the Pencil. More likely this is the part that ran into production issues that Apple decided were not enough to hold up the release of the big ticket item.

I went to Etsy and ordered a sleeve with a pocket for the pencil from Bholsa. She also has standalone sleeves and will custom design sleeves and cases.

I wish Apple would've delayed the pencil until there were sufficient quantities to stock in the store or ship in a couple of days vs. 4-5 weeks.

I noticed the Pencil sticks to the magnets in the iPad cover/case. Obviously it's not a strong connection as that's not what the magnets are for but if the iPad is on your desk or coffee table and you want a place to rest the Pencil its strong enough. Even if it was stronger I'm not sure I'd trust the pencil staying attached if it was shoved in a backpack or something. I have heard of people losing their Surface Pens which makes me wonder how strong it's magnets are.

PSA: I was able to get a Dec. 1, 2015, in-store pickup at Walmart. Y'all might want to give it a try--expedited shipping was available for early next week, too.

Hey thanks a lot for the heads up. I was able to choose between instore pickup on 12/3 or shipped by 12/5. I opted for the shipping. So 12/5 sure beats my Apple order estimating 12/24. Thank you for saving me a couple of weeks and Happy Thanksgiving!

While you guys in the States seem to be able to pick them up quite quickly now, not the same in the UK. Still only Apple stores selling, despite the product being available on the John Lewis and Argos websites, and advertised in-store in Currys.

Went to the Apple store, Bluewater today - none in stock, no info on whether they're getting larger deliveries. In fact the guy told me they'd had a few on launch day, but none since - which is a total lie as I've had confirmation of deliveries (rapidly sold) by other staff including their Business Team. He suggested I order online "for store pick-up, then when we get stock it'll be paid for and you can come and collect". Didn't seem to understand that the Apple Pencil isn't available for store pick-up on the UK site...

Guess I'm going to be waiting till December 22nd for my Pencil (ordered two weeks ago) - most disappointing

-----------------

Update - Take that back - Apple Pencil now available for order, click and collect on John Lewis website - http://www.johnlewis.com/store/appl...e/p2295270?navAction=jump&_requestid=27571903 - finally picking mine up Saturday :):D

Apple store in Tyson's has the smart keyboard in stock. I just grabbed one. If they tell you they don't have any, have them check the stock. They clearly don't know they have them in stock today.

Can you brief me in on what asking for the business team does? I just got an iPad Pro and looking for a pencil.

If your company has an account or is listed you can get a discount and deal with the business team. Instead of calling the store I have his direct line. The iPad pro was sold out when I decided to buy it. Left a message and was called when it arrived.

Dutch APR A-Mac got a few Pencils in stock today, I'm picking up my reserved one on Sunday.

Still weird that my order from Apple was said to be delivered between December 30th and January 6th and this APR got them earlier. Well, getting it in November seems to be some real luck then.

Was in London for two days, no pencils in Oxford street store, went into Cambridge today, asked if any pencils were in, was told no but an order was expected in the afternoon, went into John Lewis and bought the iPad pro for £30 off, went back into the Cambridge Apple Store and picked up a pencil, happy days!!!

Basically I own a company and used that to open a business account in the Apple Store and reserved the Pencil via their business team.
