I appreciate your input. I think for my needs (right now), a more portable size is worth more to me than the larger canvas space and higher resolution.I can't tell you which size to buy, I personally have a 12.9" IPad Pro, but I couldn't imagine going down to a 9.7" IPad Pro. That's just me though, I like having the extra screen real estate to do my drawings on. I use a reference image for most of my work and the 9.7" would be way too cramped when using the side by side windows together on that smaller Ipad size. Go with what you feel works best for you though.
Oh, you don't have to convince me. When I was a teenager I got a Commodore Amiga 1000 and got my start with digital painting using DeluxePaint on that computer. In later years, I was using a Windows computer and Paint Shop Pro (I would have loved a color Mac and Adobe software, but the price was too steep). It was with Paint Shop Pro that I started to play around with vector art and really enjoyed that. I ended up using that to create the layouts/art for websites I worked on.I did want to address what you said about your daughter and her feelings of working digitally instead of the regular mediums used by art students. While those are all good too, I can say as someone who comes from both a drafting and art background, that digital makes things so much better and faster.
My daughter bought me some color pencils one Xmas, and I feel bad that I never used them (she later put them to use herself), but once I went digital (many, many years ago), it was hard for me to ever go back to not having an easy undo feature.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I already subscribed to Adobe Cloud (student version for my daughter - but so far I've been making use of it more than she has - if/when she starts using it regularly and we bump into eachother with the one license, I guess I'll have to pony up for the $50/month plan myself - ugh). To be honest, it's been several months since I really sat down and made use of the apps again, so I've forgotten some of what they can do. I'll bug you some more once I've reacquainted myself with the Adobe apps. Thanks! There are some really great resources dotted about online for working with vectors, and I think to really understand the medium and be able to get the most from it I'd definitely recommend getting to grips with adobe illustrator or a similar desktop app, that being said my workflow is pretty similar on illustrator as on adobe draw (illustration wise). I posted this video a while back to answer a similar question about my workflow in adobe draw as it does a much better job of explaining things than I would. Hope you find it helpful!
So Best Buy has the iPad Pro models on sale again today. $499 for the iPad Pro 9.7" 32GB. I already mentioned my preference for a smaller size, but I'm curious what everyone's take here is on storage space. I'm inclined to go with the 32GB model to keep cost down (going up to 128GB is another $100), especially since I need to spend $100 on the Pencil. With Adobe Cloud, you get a certain amount of cloud storage included, anyway. I think other apps also support cloud storage (e.g., iCloud, Dropbox, etc.). So can I get by with 32GB?
