I love this device. I've been doing all my usual writing design works with the stylus instead.

Man, this thread makes me want to learn how to draw. Brilliant & inspiring work here, well done!
Give it a go at an Apple Store! I used to draw a lot as a teen but just stopped doing it. I couldn't even work with a Wacom tablet. But the IPad and Pencil combo is just so right, so natural. It feels realistic but with the additional help of the computer with erasing, undoing, etc. It really helps!

Just out of curiosity, from a specifically art-creation standpoint, have most people remained on iOS 9 or updated to iOS 10?

I know the latest procreate updates are iOS 10 only, but the Apple Pencil's low latency was a big selling point and I'd really hate to compromise.

I use Procreate to draw and on latest iOS 10. I don't have any problems and that issue you mentioned doesn't bother me.
Latest Procreate update for iOS 10 isn't "must have" thing to me either, but good to have and convenient.

I'm still on ios9 and really don't see the need to update the operating system or Procreate. In my opinion, I really don't see anything useful from ios10 and the update to procreate is meh at best. I have a feeling that Procreate is going to suffer from feature bloat leaving it sluggish.

I don't think I'm going to upgrade until an IPad with 8gb of ram is released. I just don't see the need with these useless features that get lumped into the yearly updates. Force touch? Really? How about 8gb of ram? How about built in color management? How about releasing an iPad that allows me to completely fulfill a professional task without the aid of my desktop workstation. Unfortunately, all were going to get is the removal of the headphone jack and the opportunity to spend hard earned money on peripherals that do the job of the tech that was previously included for free.

I love the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I just don't have faith in Tim cook, he will eventually try to monetize the features that were included for free. It's only a matter of time.

After several months of working on other projects I've finally decided to finish this piece. It was originally conceptualized 23 years ago for a mural at my art school and rendered in art markers on rag paper. In 1998, after the mural was replaced, I replicated the mural using acrylic paint on canvas. Fast forward 18 years and I find myself repainting this piece.

Here is a detail to wet your appetite. Thanks.

Did you find the straight lines/points and circles tricky in procreate?
Looks kind of 'vector-y' (in a good way :) )

Here is my latest piece, Madonna and Child. She was initially painted in Procreate and then vectorized in Illustrator.

At first but over time I not only got better but I developed techniques that suited my style. Basically, I just draw the line past the point of intersection and then cut it back with the eraser tool. Layers are a big plus when using this technique. The more layers the better.

Great work! Have you checked out Autodesk graphic on the iPad Pro? It draws in vector. I haven't tried it yet but the vids look awesome.

Thanks for the props!

I have used Graphic but it's more of an illustrator clone where design is the focus instead of painting.

Adobe Ideas was an awesome app (until Adobe killed it). This was a vector app but it was designed to be used as a painting app. There were no Bézier curves to manipulate, just brush tools that worked as one would expect them to work.

It's a shame that Adobe deemed it necessary to neuter an app (through App Store updates) that artists paid for.

This thread should be pinned!

Saw some people making some pretty nice drawings in a shop the other day. I hope they managed to send it to themselves afterwards!

Title: EBN (Emergency Broadcast Network) - Redux
Medium: Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, iPad Pro, Apple Pencil
Size: 10 inches x 10 inches, 300 dpi

This piece was conceptualized over 20 years ago when I was a student in art school (RMCAD). EBN started out as a marker drawing (1992), then a 16 foot x 16 foot mural (1993), then a 24 inch x 24 inch acrylic painting (1998) and finally culminating in a digital painting that utilized nearly every technique and trick I've picked up over the years (2016-17).

EBN was redrawn in Procreate with Apple Pencil. However, Adobe Illustrator was heavily used throughout the process due to the graphic design techniques in the composition . EBN is a hybrid between Procreate and Illustrator with each application lending it's own unique look to the end result. This latest version of EBN took nearly 200 hours of painstaking creation. There truly was no stone left unturned.

The piece is intended to be printed at a size of 4 feet x 4 feet but once it's finished being vectorized in Illustrator I'll be able to print it at any size I want without loss of quality. Additionally, the color may change just a bit once I start to color correct the piece in Illustrator. It won't be drastic but several areas need to be addressed.

Finally, this piece could be considered a self portrait and chronicles several aspects of my life, both past and present.

I'm both terrified and terrifically impressed.
She definitely, needs fostering in Art, and guidance to her niche Dad

This is hard as I am so used to doing drawings on paper, and the APencil's tip is not rubbery like I thought it would be... I'm glad i got a glass cover, as I'm sure after a few days of use my screen would have been scratched.

Can't happen, it's a fiber tip
