It hasn’t been implemented —yet.
There’s no official word whether it will or not.
Supposedly Apple is “rethinking” how to proceed.

iOS 15 compared to iOS 14 sucks anyway so there’s no reason currently to make the jump into hell.
That's good news--well, at least for the time being :)
Really? I thought iOS has matured enough for there to not be such complaints anymore. What issues do you face with iOS 15?
I am not in a hurry, but just the other day I was thinking of finally "upgrading." Btw, that's mostly because of the security updates.
Maybe, I'll hold off for now.

Yes, it is. It is yet another step in that direction.

It isn’t as you say you could construe it as a step in that direction but its still not what you’re pretending it to be.
It’s like if the UK elect Sir Kier Starmer as PM yes it’s a step towards communism but it’s really really nowhere near the same thing.

You don't need to convince me. If you're happy with your phone being scanned, good for you.

I think lots of people don't understand what CSAM entails, and there is also a group that don't care.
and because both of those groups also won't protest against it, it can more easily be implemented.

I think if people would better understand what CSAM really is, there would be more of an uproar :)

Citation?

Go back to the CSAM arguments we had on this forum.
Go back to the letter sent to Apple from the EFF and other tech / privacy groups.
Go back to the requests by States looking into how to use this.
Then go back to Apple’s response.
Then go back to the pro-Apple arguments.

I am not going to rehash all this again.

Biggest one for S&G - “The Government is not looking to leverage CSAM scanning on device” while they were asking Apple about that specific thing. More than one Government.

I got it. There really isnt a citation and only some conspiracy theories. Only some loose arguments thrown together.

I am a new apple customer, recently joining from samsung and windows, now own iphone 12 and MBA M1. A number of factors made me move to apple, but two of the biggest ones are reliability and privacy.

And now the CSAM. I feel like i made the wrong move switching to apple.

Should I leave apple because of this CSAM thing?
unless you have something to hide you don't need to worry.
People Complaining about is makes someone wonder if they have to hide something like they are having such pictures that are targets by the CSAM

Of course the Brits and Australians are already too inundated with their Orwellian realities to care. All your heads of state (the “Royals”) are nonces by the way 😂

Making a statement of fact and then say “we have covered this before” is not a valid MR argument.

Actually it is.
I am not about to summarize (potentially in detail) because you do not want to go back and reread the appropriate threads in this forum.

Here are a few for your reading pleasure:

Nine of this addresses the original points in the list that governments have been asking about this for nefarious use.
