With the 2016 iphone, one should not be concerned about major issues since it's basically an improvement over the 2015. The 2017 on the other hand is a different matter.

Waiting a few weeks is not going to do much. I imagine there will be significant issues with the 2017 that won't be limited to software. Look at the iPhone 6. People who have this device still have issues with the screen. While those with the 6+ do not. However, one's best bet is to buy the 2017 model close to Xmas time and definitely get Apple Care or get the 2018 model.

Waiting a few weeks will let the perspective buyers know if there are any obvious issues.

Which iPhone 6 issue are you specifically mentioning here? I have a 6 which I pre ordered and got delivered on the very first day and it's still running like a champ, without any issues.

I got both of my 6es at launch and they're still fine. My launch day 5S, on the other hand, had the battery defect that affected phones made in the first ~ three months of production, and my launch day 5 had the touch button defect that plagued early phones.

I agree with the other post above about the iPhone 7 not being too likely to have issues, since it's essentially a gen 3 iPhone 6.

This is why I was suggesting to wait for a few weeks. That will enlighten us all if there's any inherent issues that will help the buyers to make an informed decision.

Not really. Especially the antenna redesign that's rumoured to be implemented in the next iPhone. Also removal of the headphone jack and a potential second speaker means things will be moved around quite a bit, not to forget the dual camera system. All of this will mean a lot of changes.

Just because the outer shell doesn't look significantly different doesn't mean there are not a lot of changes. Waiting for a few weeks is still my humble suggestion.

Wait for 7, potential waterproof, 256G for 7+, bigger battery, lighter, narrower, of course thinner, in additional to faster CPU, and potential 3G memory for 7+.

It is only 9 month away.

One thing I dislike about how Apple go from 6+ to 6s+, and in some degree from 6 to 6s is it is both heavier and thicker. Slightly but noticeable if you handle both or own 6/6+.
Will the battery definitely be bigger? I am so fed up of the battery life on iPhones :-(

Logically speaking: yes, the battery life *should* be alot better. Bigger battery + more efficient processor. No increase in screen resolution. I don't see why it couldn't have the same battery life as the iPhone SE. If so, that's the biggest reason for me to want a 7. I am unsure if the 7 will get optical image stabilization, which would be really balsy for apple since it's standard on so many phones now. It's not even a luxury anymore. Loss of a headphone jack is user hostile to me. No reason for it. I like to listen to music through headphones while charging the phone at the same time. Now I need bluetooth to do it or buy some ugly adapter? So strange. Bluetooth headphones never even works right, or if it does, the volume level blasts when it turns on, etc. Just doesn't work and it's not worth it to me. It's also one more thing to charge. Limited selection. There's like 1 positive and 10 negatives to removing the headphone jack. It's why I am likely not going to go for the iPhone 7.

What if Apple introduces wireless proximity charging?!

wireless charging that doesn't take all day? YES sign me UP.

If MIT is to be believed, they have a battery that is double the capacity in the same physical space. So battery life could double because that battery will be ready to ship next year. Knowing Apple, they'll probably halve the battery size and keep the battery life the same.

These two things: that MIT battery and wireless charging, are two gamechangers.

I don't know what the proximity means, but wireless charging would be cool. I have a wireless charging pad in my
truck but can't use it with my iPhone.
This is a brand new wireless charging technology that doesn't require your phone to be placed on anything. It is truly wireless.

Apple has recently been granted a patent to use an iMac as the wireless charge hub and as long as your phone is nearby, it will automatically start charging. No need of putting it on top of something.

According to the apple, the new iPhone 7 will be released on 7th September, 2016. Waiting for the new iPhone 7 release. The screen size of iPhone 7 is a bit large than the iPhone 6. People can buy the premium phone starting from September 16, 2016.

Hold on, where did you get the info about the screen size being a bit bigger than the 6?!

T-Mo has a sweet upgrade deal for those who still have the iPhone 6. Basically you pay $100 to get 6S or $200 to get the 6S Plus while trading in the 6. The only caveat is that the memory on the trade in doesn't matter - so 64GB version still gets the same trade in value as 16GB. In order to get the same storage, I would have to pay extra $100.

So, is it worth paying $300 and getting the 6S Plus with an iPhone 6 trade?

I was wondering about how one charges AND listens to music if the same port is being used. Is that not a seriously flawed theory or is there a way around it?

A few weeks isn't going to show up anything other than something like "bend-gate." If you really want to see if there are hardware issues, you may need to wait two or three months. I didn't go back and check, but I think both the 5 and 5S issues took many months to surface. On the other hand, at some point, you just need to make a decision and deal with it...

Not specifically on your device. I mean wait and keep an eye on the forum. People will start bringing up issues soon enough.
