Your post screams 'it is here!' and front and center is a pic looking up the nose of a sullen looking 20-something male.
Did you order him online? How much did he cost? What's the return window?

Sometimes it pays to have a lower end GPU. I have a 2010 27” with Radeon HD 5xxx series GPU and have decided to just stick with High Sierra.
Honestly Monterey runs delightfully on one of those. I have it on my 2010 27" with a Radeon HD 5750 and it runs incredibly wellSometimes it pays to have a lower end GPU. I have a 2010 27” with Radeon HD 5xxx series GPU and have decided to just stick with High Sierra.
I’ve seen some posts about this but a lot mention glitchiness with the custom driver.Honestly Monterey runs delightfully on one of those. I have it on my 2010 27" with a Radeon HD 5750 and it runs incredibly well

There’s a little visual glitchiness on occasion, in particular with things that are transparent, but I’ve made that go away by simply reducing the transparency. Functionally everything has been great though!I’ve seen some posts about this but a lot mention glitchiness with the custom driver.
Do you get glitches and if so what type and how often?
lol, thats me and i'm 19 (almost 20). i got the mac pro complete in box for $100 on ebay, put in a $135 rx 580 that was also complete in box, $13 xeon x5675, $20 for 16gb (4x4gb) ddr3 ecc ram, and an old nvme samsung ssd i had.Your post screams 'it is here!' and front and center is a pic looking up the nose of a sullen looking 20-something male.

These are such fantastic machines - I have one in my office at school that I use every day
My main point was, this is a thread talking about legacy model macs, and you decide to take a pic that makes your face (for better or for worse) the centerpiece of the picture. Not sure what you were going for there.as for the sullen thing, its very rare for me to be in a bad mood, i just dont show much emotion on my face

I haven't been paying attention about external drives, but how is the installation on an external boot drive with a 2010 27" Radeon iMac? I might do that as an experiment, if it's an option. There’s a little visual glitchiness on occasion, in particular with things that are transparent, but I’ve made that go away by simply reducing the transparency. I ran mine off an external SSD for a while to test it out, and it worked as well as any other external boot option. No real issues other than USB2 being slowish, but good enough for testing. Then when I was assured of it working, I just stuck the SSD inside and it's quite peppy!I haven't been paying attention about external drives, but how is the installation on an external boot drive with a 2010 27" Radeon iMac? I have both FireWire and USB 2 options. (Too bad this iMac doesn't have USB 3.)
What about the GPU? Does it have the green dot?i bought a near-perfect condition early 2008 15" macbook pro (macbookpro4,1) for $80 on ebay, complete in box with a brand new battery.
no clue, just seems like the seller upgraded and were selling off their old machine - doesnt appear to have been used much eitherWhat about the GPU? Does it have the green dot?
...but for $80 i am willing to take the gamble as it is my favorite model. if it ends up dying it will cost me probably about $200 to have repaired by dosdude1 which is a price im willing to pay in that case
Sounds like a great find - interested to hear how Monterey and OCLP fares on one of these…no clue, just seems like the seller upgraded and were selling off their old machine - doesnt appear to have been used much either

im trying to decide between mojave or monterey oclp for it, im thinking maybe monterey
ah true, good ideaFor a fraction of that you could buy a logic board with the green dot and swap it over but hopefully you won't have any issues.
i am gonna put in my adata 240gb ssd, so it should be very speedy with itSounds like a great find - interested to hear how Monterey and OCLP fares on one of these…
