No, I do not want to jailbreak my phone....the phone wasn't intended to be jailbroken. This was the only solution offered which seems half @ssed. I shouldn't have to modify my phone just to bring it inline with the rest of the phones on the market.

Don't worry, multitasking is a basic essential for today's phones and something apple had to deliver in. Jb is an option and was what I used until I had to replace my 3gs and was stuck with 3.1.3.

I'm sure all of the sarcastic responses also posted in similar tone to original suggestions for 3rd party apps, copy and paste, mms, video, 3g along with any other standard smart or basic feature that apple failed on and eventually added.

You don't have to jailbreak, you can just get another phone. At this point these are the only two possibilities.

I must have a unique iPhone.

I can listen to my iTunes while I text, browse the web, etc. all on my iPhone.

Sounds like multitasking to me.

Thanks! After reading a few posts here it seems that the "apple fanboys" are so brainwashed that they see the iPhone as a godly creation without flaws. Why are these people afraid of change? If it wasn't for people like myself complaining about features, apple wouldn't have a need to upgrade the phone. The more people complain the more likely apple will do something.

Try listening to Pandora and texting....revert back with results.

Nobody said the iPhone was without flaws.

So the machine doesn't have what you want. The cupholders in my car aren't exactly the way I want them to be, either. If I wanted to, I could always go buy something else! Nobody is holding a gun to your head and telling you that you MUST BUY an iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't have what you want- go buy something else.

I don't have (or need) Pandora.

If your complaint is that a third party app can't do what a native app can, I think you're going to find a lot of deaf ears.

you're comparing apples to oranges.....multitasking is pretty important in today's fast paced world.

your cup holder comparison is pretty irrelevant. if you want a true comparison it's more like a car not having blinkers and you have to stick your hand out the window every time you are making a turn.

Complaining about multitasking at this point in time seems pointless. It's almost certainly coming in the next iphone update and I doubt complaining will make Steve Jobs release it extra early just for you.

Patience is a virtue! June/July isn't that far......

Not everyone has the same needs as you.

Wait, so you don't need multitasking? Are some of you people serious or just arguing for the sake of arguing?

Who wouldn't want multitasking on their phone??????????????? You never got a text message while you're reading the news or surfing the internet?

Read my original post please....I am pretty patient. ;-)

So being able to listen to Pandora while you text message fits YOUR definition of "pretty important." Not mine.

Again - this is a free market economy. Nobody is forcing you to buy / use an iPhone. If there is another device out there that has the features you desire, go get it. I don't think the iPhone ever marketed itself as holding a monopoly on being THE machine for EVERYONE.

Really? I think it is entirely valid. There are other vehicles out there with features that I like more than the car I ultimately purchased. I don't complain that the car I purchased didn't have those features. I had the option of purchasing a different vehicle if I wanted to it.

You want to buy a different device. Go for it!

It's not only Pandora...it's every single app on my phone. Can't read the news, can't surf the web, can't do anything if I get a text.

I never said I didn't want it, I said I don't really need it.

For example, I don't use Pandora or other similar apps because I like to listen to my own music and the iPod plays in the background so it's not a problem for me.

If I get a text while I'm browsing I hit reply, write my reply, and go back to web browsing. I don't see what's so hard about that.

That being said I do think Apple should add multitasking but I personally don't need it. The thing is this debate is getting a bit tired. We've seen these complaints over and over again. If you want Apple to add multitasking you can write it on the feedback form I linked a few posts back. Arguing about it here isn't the way to get it.

I am really getting tired of my iPhone as well, Apple hasn't changed the interface since it was first released. It is really getting boring, and I've been looking around trying to find another phone. I might just sell my iPhone, and get an iPod touch, and an Android Phone.

My original post said that if Apple doesn't add multitasking to the new phone, I will get rid of the iphone - that's all.

If these complaints about multitasking are coming up over and over then hopefully realizes what people want.

Yeah that.

I'm not sure what this "multitasking" the OP is talking about will do differently. It's not like you can leave the text message program on the same screen as Safari - just not enough screen real estate there.

It's alright I'm with you. I love apple but if they drop the ball on the update then I would choose something else (maybe), or at the least would understand someone switching.

With that said, I think they're aware that there are certain things they MUSTMUSTMUST put in their next update to match the rest, and multitasking is one of them. Then they'll probably add extra crap because catchup isn't apple's thing so they will need something to push a bit ahead.

I think they're aware of all of it. We'll see, exciting times.

These complaint have existed since the first iPhone came out. They will add multitasking if they want to add multitasking. Plus just last year they totally bashed phones that have multitasking because they said Push Notifications are more battery efficient.

I agree, can't wait until the new phone just to see what features it will have.

I think people just get tired of this "I want" crap. It's too bad the phone doesn't do what you want, if there is one the does go get it, why do you think anyone here gives a rats @$$ about your "fast paced life on Wall St."?

You said the iPhone is superior in everything else but can't multi-task, so your way to fix this is to get a phone that is inferior in everything but you can do all those inferior things at the same time. Sounds like Wall St. logic.

No matter what I love my iPhone even now that my 3GS was repaired by Apple and I was forced into using 3.1.3 so no JB for me anymore, just a stock phone and personally it works fine for me. I was going to swap my 3GS with my sons 3G bc I can still JB his but I am used to using the stock phone now, although it is not perfect it is far superior to a lot of others on the market.
