I'm more than happy with my iPhone. Tried using a Blackberry last year for a few months and went right back to my iPhone. I'll be in line waiting this summer for the next iPhone as well. To me, no other phone compares, even with it's few short comings

Wait, so you don't need multitasking? Are some of you people serious or just arguing for the sake of arguing?

Who wouldn't want multitasking on their phone??????????????? You never got a text message while you're reading the news or surfing the internet?

It's not only Pandora...it's every single app on my phone. Can't read the news, can't surf the web, can't do anything if I get a text.

If multi-tasking is the only flaw in the iPhone, and all you have to do is jailbreak... well, that sounds awesome to me. Most phones that don't have a feature you want, you're stuck without it, for the life of the phone. Jailbreaking doesn't ruin the phone, or do any harm to the phone.

It seems like you are the one "arguing for the sake of arguing."

Thank You For Making Me See The Light. I Jailbroke The Badboy And Backgrounder Is Awesome!!!!

I Happy

See how easy this was? The forum would be much easier if people actually listened to the advice given.

RC51 is a nice bike. I used to ride a Black/Blue Suzuki Gsx-R 750 05'

You mean like this?

Battery Life Kills it for me

I have a BB Bold 9700 and a 3GS - and the BB does multitasking, is much better at email and texting, phoning, is speedier browsing on the go (although browser navigation is poor by comparison) and gets a much better signal everywhere and has an amazing battery life. The 3GS has better games and apps and is a better iPod. BUT, the real iPhone killer is the battery life - it's truly awful - if you're using it for 3 hours a day, you need to charge intra day - which is hopeless.

I wonder how much of the demand for "multitasking" is actually a demand for true simultaneous processing rather than enabling switching between apps quickly and in a way that the state of a given app is not destroyed if one switches to another app (e.g. Safari).

Multitasking is not an issue for me and I think Apple should have other priorities (syncing to-do items from iCal, user profiles for network settings, Flash, etc.). Having said that, if battery life is the only reason why Apple is shying away from multitasking, then why not (1) give the users the option of allowing multitasking and (2) offer a model of the iPhone with a larger, better or swappable battery?

im actually considering the same thing...bold 9700...this battery is really on my nerve lately.....all i hear is how great the battery is on the bold...

really apple turn EVERY thing off so you can get a day out of your battery ????

like many have said the iphone is great for web & games but the bb can do much more..

im just afraid of them announcing a new one soon ... lol

I've read a few posts regarding battery life and it's BS. The reason why the iPhone's battery life seems less is because you can do more than other phones such as graphically intensive games. The 3GS's battery life is on par with every other smartphone out there.

The A4 chip, since it runs at the same speed (1.0ghz) as the Nexus One, could only have been so as to increase battery life. Otherwise the performance is on par with every other mobile chip. With this new chip there is no reason for Apple, at the very least, to withhold multitasking on the next-gen iPhone.

hmmm....wonder why my 2 year old curve could get 2 days out of the battery (with playing games, surfn the web, emails on the spot, text, facebook) and barely a day on the iphone.. listen im a huge apple fan, thats all i sell at work....but this battery is no way near what it should be...

i dont play games on my iphone...just facebook emails and texts...yesterday i had to charge it twice...

to tell people you must shut every thing off just to get a day is crazy...

they def need to improve this on the next version....

...I don't get why some people take Apple as their own creation that hurts their pride when someone says something about it. Actually...that goes with a lot of things these days, people find a favorite something, suddenly everything about it is perfect, etc. Like the people who feel "good riddance! to you because you're dropping the great iphone!" So what? They're a big person, they can make decisions alllll by themselves. Leave those kind of gay comments out. Good for you that you devote your life to supporting something you have no part in whatsoever and never will.

Yes, I like Apple. They make good stuff. But I'm not going to ignore the fact that the iphone is becoming slowly outdated, with its terrible camera, lack of multitasking, quite brick-like design, etc. It was an amazing piece of technology. But it needs some good updates as does everything, because new technologies are truly exceeding it now. If it weren't for the App store, how many people would honestly still be using an iphone? I feel the App Store carries 70% of the phone's success.

And more than likely, Apple knows they have to update it, and multitasking may be in the near future. You have to remember, Apple is like everyone else. They initially release a base product. Then they milk it, and your wallet, by making slight additions periodically.

As for a suggestion to the OP, look into quite a few of the new android devices, some are pretty impressive. Just don't get a windows phone...just...don't. lol. Terrible experiences. Another interesting phone is that new Samsung with the 8.0 camera. It looked nice...have to test it out though.

The last time I checked (yesterday afternoon), the OP decided to JB and get Backgrounder. Doesn't anyone read more than just the first post of a thread anymore?

Obviously not. That's why 112 people reply with the same answer to any question.

Agree - would like Apple to focus less on controlling the user experience and let me decide what is important to me. Like multitasking over batter life.

Hi, I'm totally new to iPhone and was 100% with you all the way in your argument........ then you JB'd............ Now that's not actually a problem 'cos I wanna do the same. But seeing that you were dead against it and then turned, can you please tell me how you did it, which software you used and if you've had any issues over the last month?. I know there are many hack threads on here, but I really don't have a clue where to start, which is best way, which still allows me to sync with iTunes etc etc.......

Thanks

^Maybe start with the stickied threads. Those are the ones the mods deem the most important to look through, so there's gotta be something good in there, right?

If you are not willing to jailbreak then maybe you should just put some good music on your iPhone then you can listen to music and respond to texts etc. Maybe you should not be so hung up on Pandora.

I agree with you, I will be using my iPhone as a work phone. (I Don't know or like that deal about JB or Rooting your phone I like the generic version. Just like I wouldn't buy a car and then chip tune it specially since i got it through my fathers work)
Until I get multitasking and flash support, the other few cons I can live with like not having widgets, divx or customizable homescreens. It will be the perfect work phone, where all the power of the phone is directed to what i need to focus on.

The iPhone is still honestly the best overall smartphone. Yes the Nexus One has better hardware and and some nicer features I will say, but Apples software and app store imo is better then Google's (for now)

I really believe that Apple is working hard on a serious upgrade for the next iPhone. With product releases about one year apart, they have to really come up with something in order to keep a lot of iPhone users especially with Google going to all four major networks and the Windows 7 Series coming out this Holiday.

My honestly belief is that Apple has some great things coming for iPhone 4 and the OS this summer. If you have an iPhone, I would wait out a couple to see what iPhone 4 has before shopping around for other phones.

i agree with all of this except that i dont think apple will deliver on the key issues this summer. Multitasking and managing notifications/widgets wont be addressed properly, and if that is the case, i persoanlly wud seriously be considering android.

call me silly but ....
when I do end up using my iphone to listen to music, I just tend to use it as an ipod :D and whilst that's buzzing along, I can pretty much check my email, facebook, whatsapp and every other mundane thing I like to do on the little black box....not quite getting this whole pandora thing....but then I'm in the UK and we dont have it
