That’s very weird, since I updated to the rc I didn’t encounter it. Try rebooting the device after updating and see how this goes.

Weird indeed. Rebooting and even resetting all settings did nothing. It still replicates with the swiping down/entering text /locking and unlocking, after which it bugs out.

Is this what you mean by swiping down/entering text /locking and unlocking? Because is used to cause the issue for me but not anymore.

I mean these are universal steps to replicate the issue, which I try on every update.

In the working state, you swipe down to open Spotlight, then enter some text, immediately lock the device and unlock it, then swipe down again and you should see a blank screen, instead of a rich one with suggestions. So you can't replicate it now? Because I can, and it's even weirder ?

I understand, I tried to attach a video but it doesn’t seem to work. Anyway the problem is still happening on my iPad even after updating it to 15.1 LOL. So you are not alone.

Guys, my new iPhone 13 pro max arrived. Clean as it can be. Created new email and iCloud account, set everything up, finally got to the home screen. No apps were installed, not even opening a single app. Just went straight to the swiping down/locking-unlocking test to see if the issue is there. It wasn't! For a few minutes... It freaking started disappearing again just after a few attempts! I have no words for it, how is it possible for a brand new phone with everything clean and a new iCloud account? Just my old phone number I used on the previous iPhone was used to activate by code (no SIM installed yet), and connected to the same home WIFI. This is beyond me now. So disappointed :(

I have some news - after some investigation, I found that the disappearing Siri suggestions are connected to the passcode/face id system.

If you turn off your passcode completely or set it to not request the code for quite some time, so you don't have to really activate your phone by passcode - you will have the Siri suggestions working and you won't be able to replicate it with the known steps (typing, locking/unlocking)

SO as long as you have your passcode and you unlock your device with passcode OR FaceID (which acts there same here), you'll be able to replicate the issue right the moment after unlocking. Which doesn't not happen if the passcode is disabled.

Can anyone try it on their devices to confirm or deny this?

Siri suggestions was working fine since I went for a vacation 9 months ago. Last month i did a location and privacy reset and guess what…. Suggestions started to vanish like before!

That sucks. Have you tried disabling a passcode to see if it fixes the issue?

Strangely enough the bug is pestering my iPhone exclusively. iPad is OK. Btw I am on 14.7.1 right now and it’s getting a bit better since Siri suggestions are appearing more often than usual.

I know people that experience this bug on iPad too. So weird.

Are you still on ios 14 and still have this bug?

Yes, I am still on iOS 14 on both iPhone and iPad. Surprisingly enough I think the bug is gone on my iPhone. Still can’t believe and even bit worried about upcoming transition to newly bought iPhone 13 ?

That’s nice!

Though I’m not suggesting you do this, but have you tried by chance force replicating this bug with the text enter, screen lock/unlock procedure?

You mean
1. Swipe down
2. Type some text in Siri suggestion search bar
3. Turn off screen
4. Turn it back
5. Check if Siri suggestions working properly?

If I got you right on this then I just did it and it still works just fine ☺️
Can’t believe though because it’s been already so many painful months/years without this handy feature

Here’s a video replicating the bug.

Hello, i had the exact same problem, tried everything even a clean restore and erase all content and data but nothing worked. I then copied all data from my wife’s iPhone 13 pro to my phone because her phone did not have the glitch. To my surprise the glitch was gone after her data on my phone. Then again i rest all content and settings and the glitch came back. So what worked for me was that i copied my few months old iPhone 12 pro max data from icloud, i was sure at the time i did not have the glitch. After that backup my siri suggestions are working perfectly fine without any glitch. The technique of pop down type random and lock iPhone has been checked many times as well. The problem is gone 100%. Just make sure you restore from old icloud backup when you were sure the problem was not there. Just for reference my device is iPhone 13 Pro Max from USA region.

Great to hear! Unfortunately I can’t test it because it only shows I have some very recent backups of my phone. Is there a specific way to access very old backups in iCloud?

And the second thing - TWO brand new phones were having this issue just outta box. No iCloud, no third party apps, nothing. Failed with lock/unlock procedure being completely 100% fresh. ??‍♂️

Yes thats the unbelievable part because i rest my iPhone 13 pro max to factory settings without any data in it and the problem was there when i did thr unlock procedure. Maybe some bug with the new 13 series but when people restore from old backups from previous phones the bug is gone. Mind boggling. And no i dont know if you can go with much older backups. I luckily had my last 4 backups on icloud only 1 was from my 12 pro max which did the job for me.

At least for me, this started on 11 Pro Max on ios 14 Beta 1. After that, it is present on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Multiple new devices. Weird!

I wish I could access some backup prior to installing the Beta on my iPhone 11 Pro Max though.

Strange, hope Apple does recognise the issue and fix it as soon as possible. I mean we pay almost $1300 and get these annoying bugs. Hope you find a suitable backup somewhere when you didn’t have the issue and will fix the problem hopefully.
